Hugo used to have the record of goals in La Liga (38) for many many years. Then CR7 came and equals that record with 7 penalties, Hugo´s record was with just one penalty. The next season Messi put the actual record (50!!!!)
Okay he won 5 top scorer awards for Spain in his time equaled 38 goals in a season which was the joint record at the time. At the time he was considered to be one of the best in work like top 3 at least in his record scoring season each one of his 38 goals was scored on 1 touch finishes so 38 goals with 38 touches. The only reason why he never won a ballon d oro was because at the time you had to be European to win. It might’ve been 6 but he won 5 consecutive la Liga season with being top scorer in 4 of those seasons. He was the word record signing in his time with 2.5 million he costed more than Maradona did and their transfers were only a year a part. His sister was a world class gymnast and he was did gymnastics so that helped him quite a bit. I personally think he is top 10 in all time but people would laugh because his legacy didn’t age like others. I really think fifa has a lot to do with it, him not winning a ballon de oro plus him being Mexican and I don’t wanna be biased because I am Mexician but the stats prove he was nothing short of world class. My friends grandpa played against him and I don’t remember my friends grandpas name but he played for the Wales national team in the 80s and I’m pretty sure he said he played against him before he retired but he said that Hugo sanchez was an absolute world class player the best at the time even with the likes of Maradona. What really gets me at that story is the grandpa was pretty old and didn’t talk much but we talked for hours and would tell stories on how big Hugo sanchez was at the time. I knew he was great but he made him sound like pele. We talked so long my friend aiden left 😂but whenever I said hi to him to be polite I said hi I’m Hugo and his eyes lit up and he asked if I played football and I said yes I do and he asked if I knew of Hugo sanchez and I said I was named after him my names actually Hugo sanchez and we then went on to talk for hours. Top 5 memories in my life.
Here are some cool stats about him he scored 40 goals in 40 games in 1 season he scored 38 la liga goals in one season which was the most ever at the time until Messi and Ronaldo broke the record he won the golden boot once he was top scorer of la liga 5 times he had the most goals in the 80’s decade and if I had to rete him all time he probably is a top 15 striker of all time he is definitely the best Mexican player ever and the best concacaf player ever plus he was named the best non European player twice he would’ve atleast had one ballon dor but at his time the ballon dor was only for europeans

Wasn't nearly as good with the national team as he was with his club teams, though... I'd say Jared Borgetti (2nd all-time leading scorer, and owner of one of the best headers ever) was better than Hugo Sanchez was with Mexico. Chicharito is the leading scorer for Mexico but I don't think he is as good as Hugo and Borgetti were. Best player in Mexico history is either Hugo Sanchez or Rafa Marquez (who was a defender and played the best football of his career for Barcelona).
Van Basten is probably the best striker ever but, he has only 3 bicycle kicks. Van Basten is the absolute master of volleys. Maybe only Klaus Fisher was good like Hugo Sanchez in Bicycle kicks but, there are not video of it on UA-cam.

They are overhead kicks bud not true bicycle kicks,you use one legs action to propel your kicking leg another name or similar strike is a scissor kick,you can do overhead bicycle kicks but some of Hugo's overhead kicks are just plain overhead kicks not true overhead bicycle kicks where your other leg comes up first then drops as your striking leg hits it
