I have the 2018 SG Standard. I think it sounds real nice and you can run your hands up and down the neck like grease lighting. And the real beauty of it . it's as light as a feather. And will not wear on your back or shoulder.Great guitar
Those mini humbuckers (in all the Gibson rigs firebird etc.) sounds great not so much hi-gain but clean or tube breakup/crunch nice. The Faded also nice better well its different they all have there own sound , Yet the Standard is a step above I just wonder how much is it just the PUP's on each ? The standard is gorgeous nicest SG (that wasn't Cherry) ive ever seen !
lol I was listening on MF's website and the first thing I thought was wow is that thing out of tune or what Ill go you tube and see comments yours was the 1st one I saw lol
Curious to play one of these. I bought a 2017 standard and like it ok. Honestly, with any new Gibson, you have to understand that it’s not finished when you get it. The frets will not be in all the way, the wiring harness will suck, the bridge saddles will need proper filing, and the tailpiece should be replaced with a locking unit. And that’s if you don’t replace the pickups, which I highly recommend... all in all, these are not great instruments out of the box. Given a little upgrading, intonation, and TLC, however, Gibson still makes the best guitars out there.
For the prices they sell these pieces of wood, they should be immaculate out of the box, no excuses!!! Well, i have a 70´s Tribute SG and for 400$ new, it is a damn great guitar, but for 1000$ and up, there are better instruments than Gibsons.
Out of all of them the SG Standard sounds nicer clean and dirty. The Faded sounds great clean but muffled when dirty. The pickups make the difference....
Your ears must be wrong or your speakers are cheap. The standard sounded the worst of all... even though it should sound better. It's not the pickups. The overdrive he's using sounds like crap. Alnico II 490t/490r in the Faded are versatile and normally sound great.
I've seen your comment on several SG pages.. and I've seen that Jay Turser model... can you confirm the radius on the JT50? I can't seem to find that information on the internet... or what types (alnico or ceramic) of humbuckers it has...
I really really really try to keep things positive, but those are some of the WORST amp tones I have ever heard! It sounds like a broke band playing Seattle in the 90's with bad tubes and caps in their amps.
the 2017 & 2018 'SG' Standards are the BEST 'SG's GIBSON has produced since 1965.....the 2016 'SG' Special Faded T is quite the axe as well.....

Daniel Hartman Same! Got it in Autumn Shade!
Wow,they're all so beautiful....
been looking for a good dual humbucker to go along after i get a telecaster and this helped me make my decision, thanks dude!

The Standard has the same pickups as the faded on 2018
I went guitar shopping with a mate yesterday for an SG, tried an Epiphone, 2018 SG Special and an ESP/Edwards SG..... The Edwards was the winner
couldn't they have tuned the guitar before doing a demo?

I’ll take all three!
Cleans on the Fender would've changed this video completely.
Can you change the kidney knobs for the classic green tulip knobs?
Brian should have been playing, this is only guy that makes a Freidman amp sound bad
Special is good for Blues
@蔡晖 Any guitars are good for any kind of music. It is all up to the person playing it.
Weird that the SG standard sounds the worst. The Special is pretty cool tbh. Didn't expect much and it was cool
Where's Baguette?
Is there a tab to the first 3 riffs on the special? Sounds amazing
use your hears ?
I love the Gibson tribute has the crown on headstock the Specials jrs do not
i think with an orange amp should sound better
Can def hear the difference between the Standard and the others. Not even in the same ball park.
love it
Of all the drives to shops from for a review ... wwwwhy the Muff Pi ?????!
This model exist without Gforce ?!
I would want a SG Gibson but all model are equiped with Gforce system ... -_-
Kuro Gane Yes
Only in 2015 all the range came with G force tuners. 2016 and onwards only the HP (high performance) models have G force.
i like this guy's style, his tats are cool! also awesome player!
You didn't demo the best pickups they put in gibsons the P-90s
With that much distorsion you can plug in anything on the amp it sounds just the same. The usual choice of unsecure musicians.
UnSeCurE
Kinda sounds like something a insecure musician might say. You may want to stop projecting.
Not really, it depends on the style of music. You're insecure for saying that.
Plays on fender amp but no clean tone. Guitars out of tune. This is really a great demo!

Why are you playing it thru the fender combo and not the Friedman behind you
GhostRising he is playing through the Friedman. Look at the fender there’s nothing plugged into it.
Oh lmao
First guitar needs some tuning..
Fuzzy distortion
gibson guitars and amplifiers good to play gibson stratocaster tube amp and gibson hot rod deluxe guitar. Good choices of equipment
Are you drunk?
the special sounds so bad in this video xD
The JAY TURSER..JT50 Custom SG..smokes the Gibson Standard SG..and you herd me right...
I've seen your comment on several SG pages.. and I've seen that Jay Turser model... can you confirm the radius on the JT50? I can't seem to find that information on the internet... or what types (alnico or ceramic) of humbuckers it has...
what an awful dirty tone. Its like something a kid would dial in a bedroom. Terrible.
