    Hey! So I did a new pour! Boy I struggled to level this canvas! But I think I did!
    I’m getting excited for my gallery showing. If this one dries well it’ll be in the wall!
    As always I use equal parts floetrol and paint and water to thin!
    Big shout out to Sara Taylor for her support and mentioning me in her latest video!
    Happy painting!

    I've seen a pour artist slip a piece of box cardboard behind a 'dipping' canvas to level the surface, which worked perfectly. Another pourer laid a carefully folded 'puppy pad' under the centre of a very large canvas; this worked well, too. I've just started pouring, only for my mental health, not to compete with anyone. I've had more failures than successes; 7:3 ratio so far. Paint consistency is my main problem as every established artist has their own version of consistency and many don't reveal their consistency in their vids. I glom onto any nugget of info I can find, however each artist has their own interpretation, so getting it right is very difficult. I have severe hand tremours, which complicates everything no end, too.

    • @dwightpours1261
      @dwightpours1261  3 роки тому

      I typically work with thinned consistency…you get better results snd more cells… Ute you have to use a binder like liquitex pouring medium…it helps keep the paints and pigments intact when you thin with water

    Lightly dampen a brush and shove it up into the corners from the back, flattens them out. I do it on all my canvases. 😘💕🕊

      Hi AK sorry very new to all this could you please explain what you mean?

    • @AK00777
      @AK00777 3 роки тому

      @@francinekeane9900 sure, I can try. Like you already do, you spritz the back to shrink the raw linen but the corners don't get any of that moisture. So I use a thin framed brush, light dampened and push it up into the corners from the back. It tightens and flattens out the corners like the rest of the canvas. Yikes, this was harder to explain than I thought it was going to be. I hope this makes sense.

    No info in your description. An interesting pour too. So did you say if you mixed satin enamel with the AL? Looks like that effect. Those indentation cells when paint is too thin was not a huge issue once you painted your edges. I don't love getting them. Especially if they are ALL you get & you didnt want ANY cells.. but i JUST found your channel & look forward to watching more. If you answered the one question somewhere else point me there!Sorry😶Your additives/ PM besides Floertral ?( not a PM but people use it as one for sure) looks very like a cloud mix effect. Thanks in advance. It -26 out so im gonna watch dome new artists on you tube! Best of Luck et Santé. Nice to meet you!

    For he dented corners..when you spray the back of your canvas to tighten it, lightly spray by moving the canvas so you can spray in the corners...then take your palette knife...I use plastic one ...and put it into the corners to work that water into the canvas. I hope that makes sense...works for me😊

    Love your work! I’m not sure what you were saying about the corners of your canvas, but if they are saggy, I have made supports for canvases out of 1/2 inch rigid insulation board. Cut to fit tightly. They are reusable , so once you get a few sizes made, you can reuse them. They enabled me to resin a fairly large canvas. I understand that you use equal parts Floetrol and paint..... but not an equal part of water, right? I am guessing just a small amount of water?

    I’m really loving the red and black. SO rich!! The question about the Floetrol - the Australian version has an oil wood conditioner in it that causes lots of cells. We can get it here in the states, but it is cost prohibitive, unless that’s the type of art you are going for. Check out Shelee Art. She seems to have made it popular and has it down to a science. Has an online course as well. You can add a tiny bit of Minwax’s Pre-Stain wood conditioner to try it out, but only a few (2-4 depending on volume, kind of like if you were adding silicone) drops into the Floetrol then mix in the paint. You get a lot of cells already by the difference in paint thickness so it may not be worth it to you, but it does turn out very pretty when you master it - which I haven’t... 😉😂

    The cells ate the red and black. The cells made a nice pattern and I was glad you weren’t covering the whole canvas with the colours but a little more left would have been more me. Do you use a cell activator?
    Sorry, I tend to write what I am thinking. I really like this painting and I really like negative space. I cannot pay for a long canvas and not use the length. I do leave space in the width. If we were all the same it would be boring. I think if I didn’t live in Australia I would come to your show. I love different. Thank you.

    Beautiful! The color combo is awesome and you write about that little strip of black being someplace to rest your eye. I was so happy when I saw Sara Taylor's video. When she gave you a shout out I was super proud like" yeah that's my cell guy ! " Yeah I know weird... I'll tell you again I am not a stalker!! Thank you for the info about mixing the white base paint.... Would it be too much to ask is that one part paint one part flotrol one part water? I asked because I have used that same mixture to get cells making a puddle out of paint usually metallics one part paint five parts flotrol and the thinner 1:1:1 mixture on top and then swirled..... But I've never used it as a base. Okay I'm rambling so back to is it one part paint one part flotrol one part water ?

    • @dwightpours1261

      I don’t think it has to be precise. Over time you just know how much. I don’t measure my base coat like I do my puddles.
