but it payed off so hard, he's one of the best characters
The only ones who think it's "slow" are the people who don't appreciate good storytelling, drama, comedy, and acting. I was hooked from the second I saw the pants flying.
It is slow stop it. I love season 1 but even I admit episode 3 4 and 5 were slow. That doesn’t mean we think season 1 sucked because it was quite good but it doesn’t change the fact that season 1 is the worst season of this show. That just shows you how many people put this in their top 5 of all time and some top 3. For me this is my personal number 1 show of all time.

Season 1 is fantastic. The only reason it's considered the slow season is just because the rest of the show is so unbelievably fucking good.

It was a rather unusual and anticlimactic season finale, what happens about 3 episodes later woulda been a great finale, I'm glad AMC didn't pull the plug on this

I'm pretty sure that the original plan was for Jesse to die in that final scene, but they rewrote it when they saw the chemistry (heh) that him and Walt had.
It would be a big mistake if they killed Jesse in this episode
The plan was for him to die in the bits at Tuco's place in season 2 which was originally meant to be season 1, but the writers strike caused it to be delayed and they kept jesse alive because of that
It would have made sense practically for pinkman to die. It’s pretty much a plothole how Jesse & walt’s connection with Tuco’s death doesn’t get them found

First season is a lot of character development. The 2nd season has a few major plot changes, and basically sets up season 3-5. Season 3 is amazing, but 4 and 5 are arguably the best seasons of any show ever filmed. This show is about chemistry, so every character has a major arc, and the plot morphs, but everything and everyone changes because of Walter White, and his decisions. He is the catalyst of the massive changes coming. You also get a handful of really deep characters coming soon. Season 2 introduces you to new characters, and throughout the show, you will get a lot of development on them as well.
I love the first season, it has a few of the best moments of the show, in my opinion. People say that it is slow probably because they don't enjoy dramatic scenes that are mostly just conversations with character building moments. I think some of those scenes (like the intervention scene) are among the best of this show.

youre right the show is hte perfect balance of drama and heartwarming moments, but also comedy and also action. Its just such a well rounded show.
there are "slow" parts in some episodes but on this show the slow bits are still amazing because they give so much backstory and context to whats happening. I never once was bored with any part of the series.

walt is experiencing a form of conversion therapy,that would definitely alter the brain feeling the need to survive alone alters mental chemistry, in that state killing to survive & other acts are easy its just about how badly you dont want to be in a situation, it'll bring out the best survivor in you.
Season 1 develops the characters for us. Once you get to know who they are and where they are coming from, you get more invested in each during the later seasons. 💯
Some people just say season 1 and 2 are slow because after those seasons the show goes from a pretty great show to one of the best in the last decade.
I'm just watching all of these right now. Couldn't ask for a better time. There's a huge snow storm and i can't really go anywhere so this is great!

Um, classified by who? It's clearly not a dark comedy. The show has some funny moments like any good drama does but the humor in those moments is anything but dark. Movies like Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges, or some of the Cohn Brothers stuff, that's dark comedy.

Most people who say the first season was slow also thought that the first season was 9 out of 10 while they were watching it and then just had their minds blown by the later seasons. It's not a spoiler to say there is going to be a lot of new characters and a lot of things happening at the same time and all of it is engaging, entertaining, funny, tragic and thought provoking times a million. I can never make my mind up on my "most favorite show ever", but Breaking Bad is definitely in the running. If you are enjoying the "normal family life" drama of a relatable criminal, you might want to try the Sopranos. Instead of the iron will of a family man who under desperate circumstances finds his life and purpose in the underworld (Walter White), the Sopranos is about a deeply flawed, sensitive, neurotic, crime boss who struggles to balance his "alpha male" mob boss drive with his oversensitivity and the emotional issues resulting from how he was raised. "He never had the makings of a varsity athlete".
People who say it's slow don't appreciate good direction. The "slow" parts are important ones to introduce all facets of their characters.
this is the funniest season out of the show imo. from here... it'll be a terrific, amazing, shocking, sad story until the very end. enjoy the ride girls :)
The thing is season 1 is the worst season of this show. That’s how fucking good this show is. It is a legendary show for a reason because each season the show gets better and better. Season 2 is better than 1 season 3 is better than season 2 season 4 is better than season 3 and the final season is the best season. You already love this show so enjoy the ride because the ride is amazing!

You guys have to react to Black Sails. I think you will really enjoy it. It's only 38 episodes in all. Only 8 the first season. Which is easily the slowest due to a lot of world building.
With that said, I am really enjoying your reaction to BB. It truly only gets better. One of the very few great shows that ends like it deserves to. Similar to Black Sails.

Most Americans have a job with crappie inadequate coverage for anything major and high deductibles. We have the worst health care of any developed country. Healthcare is the number one reason for bankruptcy in this country.
Hospital bills aren't that bad if you're healthy and don't really need to have anything done. Once you start needing multiple doctors to handle background aspects like endocrinologists to evaluate blood results, anesthesiologists to prepare for surgery, obtaining a kidney from an expensive national system designed to evaluate who, among 93,000 people, will get the most recent kidney, experts of all kinds to check for transplant organ viability, dozens of people for lab prep, around-the-clock nurses to manage paperwork and care for the patient, etc., it adds up fast my man.
