    My headcannon is that Walter planned to return the masks and materials back to the school lab, but since they were destroyed in the RV, he just hoped no one would notice

    • @mrtveye6682
      @mrtveye6682 9 місяців тому +3

      I never thought of that, good point.
      My idea was, he would have just replaced the stuff part by part in school over time. There must be a budget for lab equipment for restocking, replacing broken stuff etc. (esp. glassware get's broken in a lab quite often, mostly during washing it, that's when you are not that careful - I worked in a chemistry lab for a few year, so I speak from experience 😅 ).
      If they didn't left the mask in the desert, probably nobody would have noticed that something in the school was missing in the first place.

      @lafelong 9 місяців тому +2

      @@mrtveye6682 I agree... I'm sure that inventory/security of the school lab was not at "Fort Knox level" anyway. Since Walter was in charge of inventory, he could've *easily* made things disappear discreetly.... and if Hank hadn't found the mask, no one would've *ever* known.

    This season was cut short because of the writers strike. The first 2 episodes of next season was supposed to be where this ended

    The name "Heisenburg" comes from a famous physicist named Werner Heisenberg. Anyone who studies chemistry would be very familiar with his work. There are about a dozen famous physicists in history, along with Albert Einstein, who have changed the world of physics forever. It was a clever move on the writer's part to have walt use that name.

      Besides, Heisenbergs most well know work is the "uncertainty principle", and that fits pretty well to the Walt/Heisenberg personality. That made the choice of that specific scientists name even more clever.

      Another connection between Werner Heisenberg and Walter White is that Heisenberg also got cancer (kidney cancer in his case, which he ended up dying from).

    Walt talking to Holly on the video isn’t awkward at all, it’s just deeply emotional because we as the audience know he won’t be around for much of her life but his family doesn’t know, and feeling that deep emotion makes some people uncomfortable if they never learned that it’s okay to have negative emotions or how to process them in a healthy way.

    • @nerdymarriedcouple
      @nerdymarriedcouple  9 місяців тому +8

      pretty silly to imply that because we analyze and react to certain scenes from a fictional tv show a particular way, that means that we are underdeveloped in our ability to process emotions properly. again, as we said in response to your similar comment on a previous video, you act as though we should be reacting a certain way, as you want us to, but we will never fake reactions for views. it was an awkward and uncomfortable moment in the show because the silly and quirky tone of the party suddenly got somber and serious. we do not appreciate passive aggressive statements about our maturity just because we don't fit your idea of what watching a tv show should be like.

      Actually you are partly right. The writers' strike did cause them to cut the season short. Vince gilligan, however, is a perfectionist. Rather than create some bad episodes, he waited until the strike was over.

    As far as the "pseudo" goes, Jesse is referring to pseudoephedrine, which used to be commonly used as a decongestant in stuff like Sudafed It's also a key ingredient in meth production. Eventually, most stores put it behind the counter, and stuff like Sudafed uses another ingredient anyway. Someone buying a bunch of boxes of pills (like Badger had in episode 5) would raise suspicion, hence the "smurfs" Jesse mentioned in the beginning of this episode.

      Sudafed still uses it, Sudafed PE is the alternative, uses phenylephrine instead. And it’s basically useless. Performed similar to placebo in clinical trials. The og Sudafed really works but you’ll have to bring your ID

    I always felt the final Tuco scene here was brilliant. Walt (who is a bit of a snob) thought he could use his "superior intellect" to just sort of waltz his way to success in the drug business. Tuco's craziness showed is doesn't matter how well thought out and rational you think you are there are a lot of crazy wildcards in this business.

    I just watched a science video about how to make thermite, on UA-cam of all places, and was shocked that it was *actually on UA-cam* (for some reason) 🤷‍♂️
    I'm actually hoping that maybe some steps in the process were glossed over for responsibility purposes, but the video did remind me of this _BB_ episode.

    • @mrtveye6682
      @mrtveye6682 9 місяців тому +2

      Thermite is a pretty basic chemical product. It's not really a "secret", you can read about it in probably every chemistry books and lots of publications. So no need to hide something away on YT, everyone who is interested would be able to find out about it anyway without much effort.
      BTW, you can even find several recipes for meth absolutely legally in some scientific publications, advanced organic chemistry books etc., and I just checked, even on Wikipedia. 😀
      Though having a recipe and being able to cook it are two different things. It's not that complicated with the right equipment and a good knowledge of chemistry (Breaking Bad is a little exaggerating Walts "genius" of being able to cook it that pure), but it takes some skills and understanding. That's probably why Breaking Bad never showed the process in detail.

      @mrtveye6682 If i remember correctly, the cast worked closely with the actual DEA. They helped them with making it look real (i think Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul even said in some interview that they actually know the recipe thanks to the DEA help). They supposedly left some bits out because it could inspire some... aspiring cooks lol.

    One thing guys, please don't fall in a trap of seeing Heisenberg as something like a flip switch in Walt's personality/behaviour 😉
    I swear 99% of the viewers treat Walt/Heisenberg almost like Jekyll/Hyde situation. Very surface level interpretation imho. For now I'll stop at that 😅

    • @jxsh03
      @jxsh03 9 місяців тому

      I think it makes it easier for people to distinguish and describe the difference between how Walt acts in the crime world vs how he acts with his family but I agree its definitely not a split personality and also people get ready to see "Heisenberg come out" and Walt is a more complex character than that imo.
