My Yuneec E Go Cruiser has an electrical failure

  • I admit I have let the E-Go cruiser get a little wet many times before, but I try to avoid water on the surface of any paving I am riding on wherever possible.
Though 2 nights ago, I got caught in a heavy downpour running the E-go Cruiser along with my Golden Retriever Dave.
There was no shelter nearby so we went through a couple of puddles as we bolted for home, some deep enough to splash under the deck. I made it home another 1.5km without a problem but the board would not power on the next day. I removed the power pack and the ECU and dehydrated both the battery pack and the ECU in my food dehydrator at 50degC.
I bought a multimeter to check the battery as the charger was indicating fully charged - and GREEN
Apparently I have 27.2 volts coming from the larger battery connection regardless whether the power switch is on or off.
I get 2.4 volts?? from the back of the on off switch but there is no power at the other end or from the smaller of the 2 battery connections to the ECU, whether the switch is on or off?
Pretty much I know fuck all about electrical so maybe you can help if you watch the video.

    Hi
My one had a same problem, so I had to change the battery for 350£ . It solved it, also had a failure with the part you having an extra (computer unit) it’s been changed by the manufacturer under warranty.
How is it now ? Still not running ?

Did you manage to fix it. Thank you. I'm having the same issue.

Yes I got it going by discharging the battery and testing with a multimeter and found a short in the power inlet plug. Water got in there and created a short. I had to take off the blue shrink wrap on the battery carefully so I could replace it and tape it up again. With the battery discharged I was able to plug in the power and get a red charging light on the power charger and wiggle wires to find the short. All good and going again now.

Hi Ivan, Yes I got it going again, I think the issue was a short from water in the power inlet plug, it eventually sorted itself but took time to dry out. I tape it up now if there is any water on the road to prevent any splash going near the plug and the on off switch and also the USB connection.

Yes i managed to fix it. In the end i found the reason it wasn't powering up was that the power charging inlet was shorting out. I got it wet in a heavy rain shower going through a puddle..
I think everything else was dry after i tried to dry it, but a little water must have remained in the plug in inlet. Eventually I think it dried on its own. If you went through a little puddle without the rubber cap inserted in the power plug inlet maybe you have the same issue. maybe try taking the battery off and putting in a food dryer or oven for a few hours at around 50deg C.
I didn't replace the inlet plug in the end, and it works fine now, i just don't go through any puddles anymore.

Not sure I can help, Im still not sure how I got the Ego Cruiser going again, I think there was a loose connection in the power input plug.
I have upgraded to Evolve Bamboo GTX, next level performance and power, very happy with Evolve

when electric skateboards came out, there were only 2 choices: #Yuneec and Boosted. As I recall, Boosted released 2 weeks after Yuneec. I couldn't decide so I got them both. They are completely different! #Yuneec Aviation has made what you IMAGINED an electric skateboard rides like. Perfect for commuting, riding on sidewalks, running errands. It's reliable, sturdy, and intuitive.
The Boosted was amazing at reaching top speed from a stand still. Fact is, its top speed made me scared, and what's worse is it gives you false confidence. You THINK you're fast enough for the street...but you're not. Too fast for sidewalk, too slow for street. Yuneec is JUST right! Plus, they're the only eboard makers that are not a start up! Do your research lest you've been brainwashed by the hype machine. #Yuneec forever!! (BTW, my 1st board has over 3,000 miles on it!!!!)

I agree, I have over 1000 miles on my board, have replaced one drive belt and no other problems other than shorting out the power switch riding in wet road conditions which was my fault.

@@michaelsmart61 I have since gotten an Ego-2. It's a bit faster, a bit more nimble, has a cool kick-tail, but the ride is a bit less confident than the Cruiser...which is longer and wider. The only reason I've stopped riding the Cruiser is because people see the orange wheels and assume its a Boosted. I don't want people who see me riding all the time to think the reliability comes from a Boosted...which sucks. But the Ego 2 has been awesome so far. You can't go wrong with #Yuneec.

I have a remote and the ego cruiser board works still but I have no charger as it failed. I have a spare motor assembly and spare control board too but I’m an EUC rider now. Do you want a job lot on everything. I can take pics and email for you to look. Where are you? Postage may be an issue?

Hey Michael! I see you have a lot experience with yuneec skateboards. I have it too but I have a lot of problems with it, maybe you can help me. So, when i turn it on it makes a sound (beep), is good. Then I turn on the controler and also turn's it on, the blue light is flashing (three times) and the green light is flashing also (three times). But when I try to accelerate nothing happens, just the controler vibrates one or two times. It looks like everything is working, that are connected but it doesn't work. Do you maybe know what is the problem?
