- ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2013 Toyota Tundra is Toyota's biggest and most powerful pickup. With a 5.7L V8 engine that puts out 401 lb-ft of torque the Tundra is fast and somewhat thirsty. It is also on the way out because in 2014 Toyota is debuting the next generation of the American built Toyota Tundra. But before we can test the 2014 model we want to test the 2013 Tundra. In a series of three videos we test the current model from 0-60 MPH as well as from 0-60 MPH with out test boat and final we take the current Toyota Tundra off-road.
In this third informative and entertaining video we take the big Toyota off-road into the Colorado Rocky Mountains to see how the Tundra does when the going gets rocky muddy and steep.

Thanks for the comment. We appreciate the feedback. And yes, this is our job. A quick question for you as well. Do you get paid for being a troll? Because you are very good at it.
trd makes a true duel exhaust for the tundra that sounds great
My cousin has a supercharger for his 2010 Platinum and its a blast lol. There's videos on UA-cam of them but you have to drive one to really know the feeling.
3:00 Gun shot!! lol
Yeah this road they use also has a shooting range on it.
Still an awesome truck, I have a 13’ Rock Warrior with 72k on it, sounds amazing with the trd cool air intake!
Should should of gotten the rock warrior package
Roman. you guys should have chosen the rock warrior edition... There would have been nothing to complain about there!
a RAM 1500 is not in the same class as a Tundra, everything in Tundra's class has no locking differential if I'm not mistaken. The frame is better than all the other trucks, you are probably referring to the bed flex (or something like that) video, well the tundra performed better leading in a straight line and it's frame does flex more than others so it isn't damaged.
Yeah.. but I bet it would be really cool with a supercharger, just imagine the acceleration on this beast.
Put TRD dual exhaust on that puppy and you'll love the sound.
I agree even the 6.5 can be a little small. I think they do the 5.5 because otherwise the truck just gets too big and long.
Been waiting for this tundra off road review !
You need a channel called the slow lane jeep
Guys enough with the intro riff throughout the video. Plus I dont think soft touch should be applied everywhere. Sometimes hard plastics are better in certain locations
big truck big fan of Toyota get it clutch fan love the roar of the engine amazing big truck coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool :)
Should of got the rock warrior
Wow, you guys were actually nice this time. That's admirable.
also, speaking of wasted space, i never understood what the point of having a pick-up bed that small was. and I'm not saying that because this is a Toyota, the same goes with every truck. There is no way you will fit a couch into your truck when you need to help a family member move or something. Speaking from experience, I recently helped my cousin move and both of my uncles have pickup trucks: one has a 6.5 ft. bed and one has an 8 ft. bed. Both were extremely useful. Stay away from 5.5ft beds
AWESOME shirt Nathan!
I’m disabled and off-road.
I have to have running boards to get in....
Your welcome to laugh if we pass on the trail
Commenting about the sound of a motor: The common sense tells us that you want a machine to be the most silent possible. That's the art of refinement. Noise is bad. More noise is worse. So, you should applaud the big motors that DON'T sound at all. :) For those of you who like to hear big noise at the exhaust, I think this is just a tradition, that came from the era when it didn't matter the noise, but it expressed the power of an engine, and it gave confidence. We don't need that anymore.
no chin spoiler thats 3in off the ground like those damn chevys
I noticed how you guys went on to praise this truck for durability but then left out the Truck has a fraction of the competition's frame strength. You also forgot to mention that this, aside from the ram 1500 is the only truck in this class to not offer a locking rear differential. Kudos to Toyota for offering a 4.30 rear axle ratio though.
Tundra has the best frame. Its designed to flex. Keeps it from breaking like the competition.
Are you guys going to get your hands on the 2014 4runner as well?
You guys are so cool, thanks for the vids
at the beginning Nathan was about to say The Fast Lane Car
Yes he does.
Truth is... most owners would put running boards on it anyway.
The Tundra is a full sized half ton pickup truck just like the Silverado/Seirra, Ford F150, Nissan Titan and Ram 1500. So yes the Ram is in the same class. And GM offers a autolocking rear diff while Ford and Nissan offer manual operated locking diffs.
Also a test was done to measure the frames strength between the last gen Silverado, the Ford f150 and the Dodge Ram 1500 and the tundra. The Ford got .144 inch of frame flex, the GM got .183, the Ram did .270, the Toyota did a .637, the worst.
Greater frame flex is much better as it provides more flex without being damaged
@@captainmikehagen459 No it makes the body and box flex more which makes it more prone to damage. Which is why they switched to a fully boxed frame. You don't need your frame to flex thats what your suspension is for
No it definitely doesn’t😂
Greater frame flex does torque the body more but if the truck is designed to take it then it results in less damage, besides it’s far easier and cheaper to fix body alignment issues than to replace a bent or cracked frame such as what would occur with the other rust prone trucks you listed
@@captainmikehagen459 Toyotas are just as prone to rust if not more. But if that was the case then why did they switch to a stiffer frame. Why does the entire puck up truck Industry keep switching to stiffer frames
Toyota’s are not more prone to rust, my daily driver is a 2013 Toyota Tundra and I live in an area in which road salts are used frequently and the conditions are very wet and I have never had an issue with rust on my tundra, and I’m constantly thankful for my trucks articulation and ability to flex without being damaged
LOVE Survivor Man! Les is bad-ass!
was it tommy who sat in the back?
Good video guys. Enjoyed it.
Why is the sheet metal being changed on the 2014 model? What did you mean by that?
Where's this trail?
Loving tflt im trying to buy a truck soon.
They should do a mash up with the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier
RUSH!!!!! hell yeah cool vid too!
What trail do y'all drive in Boulder for your reviews?
I have automatic mirrors on my 2004 avalanche
Jake Hillyer good for you
Slow clap 👏
You can get it installed from Toyota and covered under warranty
another awesome video !
i have seen the ike gauntlet why didn't the tundra have it's back winsheild
Does Les Stroud do the harmonica music for you guys? LOL Always reminds me Survivor Man. Good videos guys!
LoL I am being a troll, I wish your videos are more entertaining, keep up the good work. I apologize for me comment, if you are making a living off it, good for you guys
Dat breakover angle.
I've never seen a Tundra come from the factory with a supercharger. Thats dealer installed, if you want it. It isn't an option from the factory and has never been.
great Video
make a video for the FJ cruiser too please !!
whats up with all the bikes passing in the beginning? lol
Great video! But that song... better off using just raw audio.
Do the 2013 armada
Do a video for de the raptor
Have you tested the 4.6 offroad?
Where do they test these trucks at?
I think the running boards are to protect the doors. Because if u go off roading and. Hit a bolder on the door I won't be able to get out
When are you guys getting the Ram Ecodiesel?!?!?!?
2014 4Runner plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz... When it's available of coarse :)
they should put air suspensions
Have gs3 cannot get video through app
Would a 2007 Limited edition tundra 4x4 have the TRD off-road package? I can’t find it anywhere online hoping someone would know!
The trd off road is next to worthless anyway you are better off buying one that doesn't have it for cheaper and upgrading the suspension yourself it will be better and cheaper
カッコイイですね憧れます。
what the name of that trail your on?
does roman own a motorcycle
3:55 cameraman walking behind
But does it have a locking rear diff? Noooooo. Is there even a production truck that could not take that trail?
almost looked like Tommy in the back.
You say running boards I say rock sliders
how come tundras dont come with a locking rear like the tacoma and 4runner ?
no they dont ha show me?
3rdgen4runnerguru Man I been asking myself that for years. I watched the interview with the 2018 Tundra and the Engineer said they hadn't had a demand for it and no plan for a tundra I call bullshit. The only time Toyota had anything close to a locker in the rear end of the Tundra was the 2007 and 2008 model Tundras with the mechanical limited-slip which halfway 2008 they stopped producing and favor of the traction control aided set up that applies the rear brakes to minimize wheel slippage between the two wheels. Which is exactly the opposite what you want when you're in the mud or snow and need tire spin in order to maintain momentum. Unfortunately there are only a few manufacturers of true locking differentials whether it be air, mechanical or electronic for the tundra in the aftermarket.

@@LS_LS_LS_LS they don't. No tundra does.
My dads 04 2500 Silverado has the folding mirrors with the LS trim lol
$10000k cheaper than the ford and it last 4ever
What marketing genius gave the truck an acronym just one vowel short of spelling turd?
At least the truck isn't one and the review/test is fun as well.
Only thing japanese about these trucks is the logo.
Alright alright RAM boys !!! lol
No daman, no supercharger and this is the same truck from last time
Yeah just not at the San Antonio factory.
Who’s just getting this video recommended to them?
Step Rails, Mud flaps and off road don't match
He said "boy." haha I'm surprised the ACLU or some black guy hasn't complained. lol
Quit shoehorning irrelevant political issues into the comments section, Snowflake.
Anyone else laugh about them talking about ground clearance on the tundra.
True, but it only really gets long when you have the "SuperCrew" with 6.5 ft. bed., and the people who buy SuperCrews use their trucks to do the school run and family hauling. Those people buy their trucks just so they can say they have a truck, yet they don't actually use it for what it is and could manage with a Toyota Corolla. I guess that is the only purpose of the 5.5 ft. bed.
You guys are kool! That truck is not! Just the ugliest thing on wheels
do you guys make money doing this because you are not that good at it.
Boy if it wasn't for that next gen I would have never bought a tundra. That front is ugly af. Granted iv seen custom grills that make it look good but my God that standard one is hideous.
in my opinion, tundras look very "fat" with the body and they look like they have a lot of wasted space because of it.
Capable as it may be, that has to be one of the ugliest trucks (in my opinion) that you can get today. I'd give it a burn it.
