This band had so much more then one album in them. Just another heartbreaking example of a band that for whatever reason, didn't make it! They are, unfortunately, on a long list of musicians that would stretch for miles!
@@dustmind338According to their Wiki page: “After a tour was arranged that year, drummer Hewitt critically injured his wrist, forcing them to go on tour using Hewitt's drum playing on a tape machine. Modern Eon dissolved by the end of 1981 while working on demos for a second album, which was never released” And for a drummer as talented and unique as he was, I can completely understand how that would signal the end for this one of a kind band.

You probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown xD
every film trailer in the past 8+ years owes M.E a cheque for the piano at 2:20 they cribbed. I love this as a b-side. Makes sense it wasn't on the album, but has all the hallmarks of a great b-side --- A bands ethos presented, with the chance to reach out and experiment/indulge. This is peppered with a Police spice which i also enjoy. It's always hard to mix these guys into a set, as there's nothing truly like them, only bits and pieces that reflect the times, so leading up to them always works, it's following them that gets tricky. All the more reason to cherish them i suppose. :) Adored.
Hi NJG - well put, yes they're quite an enigma. I also always thought that they simultaneously captured the essence of the postpunk flavour while also standing apart. Such a sumptuous atmosphere, and a good combination of experimental edge and pop/catchy appeal. Just posted a couple of versions/remixes of Cardinal Signs and Splash! on the Modern Eon FB page, you may enjoy - facebook.com/groups/ModernEon/permalink/10163520162895183/
Takes me right back to the summer of 1981, this album was so exciting to hear and just dig into all the amazing sounds, in the Usa I would pray that I would get a chance to see them in concert. but that never happened. so glad I still have the original album.

I believe the drummer was in an accident, injured his wrist and was left unable to play drums. The band never really recovered.
@@mikehalwa7201 how do you know that?

Should have been included on the album. Probably one of their best tracks.

Give em a grand, and stick em in a bubblebath. Yes, a wonderful track. Love it!
@@lightarmoureditions5226 nice 1 mate. Criminal how this lush track never was a hit. Still, we all love it, and that's all that matters.
Brilliant. The second best Liverpool band in the genre behind The Bunnymen.
Their Sound laid the pavement for late 80s early 90s British Indie Scene and many Spanish Rock Bands.
Underrated Jem!👌🏻
Yes yes yes
Good gold years... Post Punk Old School.
