Directed here after commenting on your 9019 review. That Sheaffer is indeed a fine looking thing in yellow. This video nicely demonstrates the relative sizes and features of all the Dadao series pens. I’m not sure that the heartbeat nib has any additional functionality but it surely looks good and I even purchased a Century 100 with one of these installed. My X159 has now arrived in gloss black and I’m currently obsessed with it - and my X750’s. It’s a very smooth writer and looks like it ought to cost a lot more. Jinhao is certainly on the right track though, with the 9019 converter system and it’s minimal aesthetic. I can see these being go-to pens for many. I’m probably going to order one in ivory next. I’m a bit ham-fisted, and arthritic so tend to prefer the larger pens. Subscribed! 👍🏻
Thanks very much for your comments -- and my apologies for the tardy reply! No, the heartbeat nib doesn't add any additional functionality, but I was amazed when I tried my first one that it worked perfectly with ink delivery. 😄 However, when removing the feed and nib I saw that the feed channel delivers ink beyond the end of the heartbeat to the straight slit between the tines in any case -- so flow is uninterrupted.
I love the 9019, like the 9016 but this 9013 seems way too small. I also skipped on the Jinhao 82 for the same reason. Sure the color mix and match thing looks fun but I don't enjoy small pens so why bother?
Nice comparison. I have the 9016 and the X159. I am truly surprised at how well these pens write. so even though I don’t really need more pens, I am awaiting new colors and plan to purchase some more to add to my collection
Thank you. What do you mean...you don't need more pens???? LOL I'm glad you came to your senses by the end of your comments. I've imported Jinhao pens for close to 20 years, and they've really upleveled their nibs in the past couple of years. Plus, they keep innovating (heartbeat nibs, extra-large converters, etc.). It's encouraging to see.

The 9013 would be the "Micro-Me." I have 5 transparent 9019s (with the old style #8 nibs). Plenty of spare parts = long life.
That should last you for a *little* while! LOL
theres one more unreleased full matte black -including trim- dadao 9019
Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't know that, but I see there's a listing on Amazon for Piano Black.
@@HisNibs1 saw a pic of it on the jinhao Instagram, it will probably be here in the next months
