Man, borrow him couple of barrels of your evaporust. It hurts to see, how he drips a few drops of rust remover from tiny canister and smears them on details :-D
No, would've been fine if it was all metal + a thorough clean but oil would've seeped through the plastic components, if you put virgin olive oil inside it, the chemicals would leech into the olive oil, the tip material is brass which in industrial purposes is often mixed with lead to make machining it easier, you wouldn't want your food to be contaminated with lead right?
I love your channel because there is no music. I love to here the sounds in fast speed. You are also very thorough & pay more attention to detail than any other resto channel I subscribe to! As far as things to resto, maybe some more old power tools & car related tools. I really enjoy the car part restos too! Keep up the amazing work. 👍🏼
I have exactly the same oil can, I bought it over 40 years ago! Mine has a Wesco sticker still on the side!. But thanks to your video I managed to get mine working again. Thank you.
I have four of these Wesco oil cans. They are really good. I just handpainted mine different colours to show they are old but well loved. You can still buy new ones.
This is no joke becoming my favorite channel on UA-cam!!! Just the simplicity of no talking, just work and seeing the before and after progression really tickles my fancy. KEEP IT UP MY GUY!!!!
Love the colour , back in the late 80's I rebuilt a MK1 Escort , asked my boss if there was any buckshee paint as we had just changed paint schemes over , mixed up this bright orange up , he thought I was mad , Called it day glow orange , stuck a black vinyl roof then put sun roof in and a set of Rostyle wheels , thought it was the business back then , sold it to buy a mexico , last I heard it was doubled up as a RS 2000 .
Nice! Personally, I would go with a rusty orange - red colour, but this orange mixed with a bit of yellow turned out to look great as well. Love your work!
Looks nice. Great vid. Looking forward to your next vid. I have one of these oil cans but it had the see through re-inforced pipe spout. I dont know how old it was but i left it in our back garden for over 10 years and it has a lovely patina on it. I made it into a desk lamp, weighted the base and switch it on now and again. Mine was working perfectly until I dismantled it. :).
Enjoyed this. I admire your knowledge, skill, and equipment around painting - most of us use either what'is in a shaker can! I'd say "persimmon?" The official oil can color for 2019!
Well done, once again :) Such a nice orange colour! Could you demonstrate the paint spraying process more in detail in your vids to come, please? I'd like to learn how to apply the paint, not too little, not too much.
I wish I had the skill, knowledge, time, equipment, and space to restore things. I think it would be a lot of fun to do a nut and bolt restoration on an old car.
Absolutely awesome channel and I cannot fault your work! Especially when you're restoring car parts :) I may need to send some over in the future to be restored.
You are very underrated! I find these videos oddly satisfying , I happen to stumble on your channel yesterday and I’ve been hooked ever since , keep up the videos 👍🏽 I’ll be restoring my e30 brake calipers now thanks to you and I’ll also be rebuilding my lsd as well 👍🏽
Doesn't bond as well with the metal. Water can wick underneath (or oil in this case) and it will loosen. I have heard that there are better formulas nowadays that are epoxy based and more durable, but we do not use it for anything in the aircraft business. Proper metal prep/etching, primer and top coats are the most dependable in my experience. Thanks for the reply.
I'm really just going off of things I have and have seen on vehicles, engine covers, suspension parts all kinds of things and it seems to hold up very well
Liked before even watching because i just know at this point. Also, how do you decide when to use a sand blaster and when to use the paint remover is it because of the type or metal?
I always assumed those oil cans were just sold all battered up and dirty. I don't think I've ever seen one in that pristine condition, that's really impressive.
4:05 - That etching primer looks just like the DuPont Variprime we used to use years ago. That stuck on metal like stink on a skunk - never had a failure. The nickname for the stuff was "yellow death", can't recall the reason.
Could you maybe make a video explaining stuff about spray-painting? I'm wanting to get into that topic and you seem like you know what you're doing. Great vid btw! really enjoying your content!
I've got my dad's old smaller version of this oil can, it's orange too, you need to get the wesco water slide transfer on it unless you put one on after, ( not being a spotter or anything) Great video, & like others say, why Chuck it away when you can repair it. Also I have a Yamaha SR500 motorcycle painted in ford signal Orange. Nice colour.
Your work is hypnotic. Thank you for not playing background music.
Agreed. Background music shits me.
dubstep intros make me mad...
This is rapidly becoming one of my favourite channels.
Thank you, Sputnic. Glad to have you.
Plus he shows his restorations working.
Totally agree with those that thank you for not playing back ground music.
I immediately close a video if they start using background music.
I am addicted to this channel... cant wait till we get a full “restored bmw” video
Count me in, i'm really curious about the BMW.
+1
Owning two e30s makes me even more curious about the bmw 🤪😎
Watching these videos feels like meditating
Restoring is the best option always
Noice! 30w non-detergent oil is good for most antique machines that need oil, just fyi.
i use whatever oil i can get my hands hold off, old machines dont care what u use lol
I love ur channel tool rescue
U too RestoreIt
O Brasil ama vocês dois
Man, borrow him couple of barrels of your evaporust. It hurts to see, how he drips a few drops of rust remover from tiny canister and smears them on details :-D
You should use it for extra virgin olive oil at dinner.
Haha 🤣 brilliant idea
😂😂
Now that I think about it seems like a fantastic idea since the bottles eventually get oily.
Gotta give you major credit for having a big project going on in the background and still putting out other vids!
Thanks. I just bought one for my daughters' birthday to restore. Much more to it than I initially thought. Looks fun.
He even filled it with oil!. Absolute mad lad.
He's totally filling his e30 dif up with this. One pump at a time.
I love your channel because there is no music. I love to here the sounds in fast speed. You are also very thorough & pay more attention to detail than any other resto channel I subscribe to! I should be in bed but I would not have been able to sleep until I watched this!
Thank you! Superb work!

You did a wonderful job. Perfect color for it too, and it works like you just bought it. Great job!
This is no joke becoming my favorite channel on UA-cam!!! Just the simplicity of no talking, just work and seeing the before and after progression really tickles my fancy. KEEP IT UP MY GUY!!!!
Mitchell! My man! Loads more to come don’t worry! Thank you for your kind words!
I have no idea why that was so compelling but it was, and I loved it.
Excellent work :)
Beautiful! Orange is my favorite color! You have a great shop--everything you need.
Thanks Gary! A lot of this is borrowed and am currently working on getting my own workshop in Spain with all my own tools. It's going to be a big job.
Just restored mine. You can buy copies of the original stcikers for these, they look fantastic
Do you know in which material is the gasket ?

Really nice job! Should last another 100 years.
Please don't change your video style. Keep it up. Love your videos.
You do fantastic work, always a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your videos.
That's a nice restoration. I like the final color. It gives the oiler a nice touch. Keep up the good work. 👍
Great restore Steve, seeing it pump reminded me of younger day's lol

it looks like how to basic. but doing correct things. XD
I absolutely love your videos man! Keep up the good work!

Just amazing work, as always! Glad you make videos of these projects.
Positively beautiful restoration!!!
Beautiful job. Looked like it had just come out of the packaging, but no doubt better quality. 😀

What is better than restoring vintage classic items?👌
Maybe the best channel in youtube. Keep restoring man!

This is a great hobby for sure. Very fun and a very satifing reward. AWESOME! :)
Looks nice!
Absolutely awesome channel and I cannot fault your work! Especially when you're restoring car parts :) I may need to send some over in the future to be restored.
I’d like to see the restoration of an old camp stove (like a Coleman).
Shop tour?
Can just use subtitles to explain what things are. Be sure to add lots of small noises for maximum ASMR haha
I wish my car had a finish as nice as that oil can. I'm not kidding.
Lovely restoration. Very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you Robert.
You are very underrated! I find these videos oddly satisfying , I happen to stumble on your channel yesterday and I’ve been hooked ever since , keep up the videos 👍🏽 I’ll be restoring my e30 brake calipers now thanks to you and I’ll also be rebuilding my lsd as well 👍🏽
Thanks, Wxsh! This is great to hear.
Not sure why I’m here but I’m glad I am!
YIKES !!! If these are now antique what about me ??? I still have two of them which I bought .
I'm done with effects...drones....same old terrible video music...subliminal advertising....egomaniac youtubers! This is the way forward.
Simple one, but very good end result 👌
Should look into powdercoating, for some of the things you restore it would be better than paint
this
Until it starts to turn loose
Usually stronger than paint and holds up longer
Doesn't bond as well with the metal. Water can wick underneath (or oil in this case) and it will loosen. Thanks Joel!

suspension components would be an nice thing to restore
That is some sexy orange color you put on there, beautiful restoration!
Always love watching your videos!
You have some really good auto body stuff
I love the color!!! Nice job, dude!!
this color is so beautiful !

This is basically art
beatifull job man, its look amazing! greatings from brasil
Could you maybe make a video explaining stuff about spray-painting? I'm wanting to get into that topic and you seem like you know what you're doing. Great vid btw! really enjoying your content!
This one must have been easy. It was well oiled to start with.
I still have my fathers. Works pretty good for something as old as it is. must be at least 50 to 60 years old! Maybe older.
I like your maksing technique!
Most old oil cans need a wider bases soldered/epoxied on to keep them from getting knocked over.
as always a very satisfying video!!! by the way, what kind of material you used for the replacement gasket?
Like before watching club cuz I know its gonna be awesome!
Nice vide restoration
Just imagine how fast this fella could fix old stuff with the infinity gauntlet. For example set playback speed 2x.
Very pretty. Given the thinness of the metal, could one have used rust converter instead of a remover, or would it not have made any/much difference?
I'm in love with this channel
I've got my dad's old smaller version of this oil can, it's orange too, you need to get the wesco water slide transfer on it unless you put one on after, ( not being a spotter or anything)
Great video, & like others say, why Chuck it away when you can repair it.
Also I have a Yamaha SR500 motorcycle painted in ford signal Orange. Nice colour.
Jesus.. one of your ads popped up and it was 100x louder than the video
awesome work btw!
Because old is gold..
