      Hi fellows! Just to give you a not spo info... Considering the way they adapted this season, most likely will be 10 season to the actual anime moment and maybe 12 in total to the end (manga is showing now the last arc and its just one arc ahead anime). Plus, not only the producers are ready to film the second season just waiting for Netflix OK, but also 6 seasons are already in screenplay ready to make a six years filming. And that would take the half of entire One Piece work. By the infos that I got, when Oda engage this LA idea 4 years ago, they had aalready planning a quick production if this first seasons suceed. Probably because the manga (and anime) will last around 6 or 7 years too then this 6 seasons could closing togetther. But lets see what will happens...

    27:11 Actually, he is speaking from heart in that scene. It is a bit more explained in the anime, but his plan is to inherit Kaya's fortune and *live a peaceful life*. He even faked his death so the marines would stop looking for him. What he is saying about being worried of someone betraying him or slitting his throat, or being constantly haunted, is because he has experienced that himself. So in reality, he is technically trying to warn Luffy before he suffers the same fate

    This is one of the biggest changes the live action made because Garp was revaled to be Luffy's grandpa in episode 314.

      @@spyfire242I've read that they actually talked Oda into this, he and the team has probably designed the plot very careful with Garp being a big deal in the East Blue. It's the best change throughout the show to my opinion since Arlong park arc has as much hype as any previous arc, the show did try to set him up to be the big bad in the finale as well, but adding Garp on top of that as a cross-plot make the plot busy and engaging.

    • @spyfire242
      @spyfire242 9 місяців тому +4

      @@barry8871 It was a pretty bold decision to dedicate so much time to a brand new plot instead of devoting more time to source material when their time was already so limited/condensed. I am only okay with it because we can assume allot of the Garp/Kobe stuff was happening anyway and we just didn't get to see it, and it establishes him as an important character down the line earlier.
      I think the plot is already busy and engaging without the marine stuff, they could have definitely toned it down and dedicated more time to things such as Ussop's backstory but I digress, it is what it is.

    One detail I love that they kept in this from the anime is how Kuro fixes his glasses. He does it with the heel of his palm rather than with his fingers like most people due because of his choice of weapons being those clawed gloves. Also, in regards to Kuina's accident, they don't say what it was in the first season, but basically she fell down some stairs and hit her head on a rock, killing her. I'm not joking, that's actually how she died in the original canon.

    Look back on the things Garp says. Back in Shellstown, when he speaks to the Cadets about going after the pirates to show that there are "consquences for their actions" and in the previous episode when he's playing Go with Koby, he talks about "a firm hand to put them back in their place". All of these now take on a different meaning now that you know he's Luffy's grandpa. It sounds like typical things an old school hardass would say while lecturing their kids or grandkids.

  • @dannybob42
    @dannybob42 9 місяців тому +9

    So for the second part of Syrup Village there were surprises for non-fans and existing fans alike at the very end, I mean we knew but the Garp reveal happens like over 10 arcs later than this, the dog hat he wears was in fact a means to hide his face in the manga because in the 'beta version' of One Piece, Romance Dawn, Luffy's grandpa is on full display, but he's a pirate with the straw hat.
    Oh you gotta learn that Zoro is just built different, dropped down a well is light work, nothing happened.
    A lot of this episode did miss out on some key bits of context; Morgan does indeed believe he killed Kuro of a Thousand Plans, but that's thanks to the missing in (live) action character Django. Kuro liked the fortune and the killing, but not much else as a pirate, he never punched above his weight, so he planned to quit the whole pirate business. Upon laying siege to Morgan's ship, crushing his jaw to the point that he now wears that metal brace, he hypnotized the marines and a crewmember into believing that the crewmember was Kuro as he escaped and let someone else take the fall for him. Additionally Zoro's backstory - which happens after this arc in the manga and anime - does cut out a lot of Kuina's story (we don't learn her surname for a very very long time either, it's kinda important but only if you know why it's important); one of the most key thing is that Zoro never beat Kuina, not once, she beat him 2001 times including their final battle with real swords, but since her father was from an old fashioned upbringing her insecurities of being a girl came from that upbringing. Kuina's death has often been a matter of denial by fans, the reason she died was that she 'fell down the stairs', which can indicate the fragility and cruel irony of life given how she lived to be a swordswoman yet didn't even go down in battle, others think it's a euphemism for suicide, and some don't even think she's dead at all. Finally Kuro's lack of quickly killing major characters comes with a major flaw to his speed, he cannot see where he's going when he's going that fast, so he's really just wildly swiping.
    There are plenty of differences from the manga too of course; Zoro is not stuck down a well but on an oiled up slope, which he does use his sword to escape from. After he defeats the Nyaban brothers he assists Usopp in defeating Django before he can kill Kaya - who was being protected by the three 'Usopp pirates' children holding Django at bay in the meantime. Luffy before that got hit by Django's hypnosis and fell asleep, this being after he beat up a bunch of grunts hypnotized into a rage...because he also got hypnotized into a rage, he ripped the mast off the ship! Nami wakes him up by accidentally stamping on his face where he then confronts Kuro. The ship meanwhile was already called the Going Merry, because Merry - who survived his Kuro encounter to validate Usopp's claims after Kaya pushed him away for trying to get her to safety - designed the ship, Usopp was also always intending on setting off to sea but was surprised to be invited onto Luffy's crew, it's only when he leaves that it's revealed that the townsfolk who chase him away do it routinely to give Usopp attention, and worry where he's gone.
    That being said, limiting the story to just the house and leaning into the horror does work very well, as does Kuro poisoning Kaya. I did personally like Kaya kissing Usopp but ships are all subjective.
    Also you get the classic gag of Zoro getting lost, because the well is LITERALLY outside the house!
    Fun Fact: the music playing when the ship sets off is a rendition of the first anime opening song.

    Episode 8 ends around the 45th episode of the anime. Though there are small plot points that have been brought into the live action from around episode 325 in the anime. I haven’t noticed anything else hidden/mentioned/teased from any further than episode 325. Everything that has been teased is between episode 45-325. So after watching the 8 episodes, you know NOTHING past episode 325. It’s speculated that they would probably do 4 season, of live action before it meets up with anime episode 325.
    However if you make it that far and are still enjoying it, just watch the anime, or better yet to save yourself the time, pick up the “Shonen jump” app, and start reading the manga.

Especially since it's Zoro who makes the promise and she didn't really reciprocate it much but just sullenly went along with it. I think what led many to believe it was suicide is the fact that some humans in One Piece can survive an explosion despite having been in the epicenter of it & etc., so someone, as strong as her, dying by something so ridiculous makes many people doubt that story.

That's why during the fight, his strikes are "normal speed" and he only moves fast to dodge or caught the opponent off-guard. In the anime, a lot more is said about him, his origins and how his powers work, to the point where he does move fast and attacks all over the place on Luffy at one point.

    “How did Zoro survive the fall in a well?”
    Anime logic.
    And also, Captain Kuro with the blades doesn’t have powers; he’s just fast, which is also anime logic.

    In the source material Zoro was even younger in those flashbacks. Kuina had a not insignificant size advantage when this happened being older than him, which reinforced her viewpoint even more.

    Funny you mentioned Aesop's fables, usopp's name is based on it! It's uso(Japanese for 'lie') + Aesop = usopp . This is why his whole schtick is lying and stuff
    Another thing, in the manga, kuina was mentioned to have died from falling down the stairs. "falling down the stairs" is also another term for unaliving yourself in Japanese. Japan is not open with topics about mental health, and any talks about someone who unalived themselves, their family members would say "they fell down the stairs"or something along those lines to hide their 'shame'.
    In the manga as well, I think kuina's speech about the inequality between men n women was better than the live action. The main reason for her outburst is the fact that no matter how strong she is, she is always "put in her place" just for being a woman. In the manga, it was mentioned shes the dojo owner's (long hair guy) daughter, but no matter how strong, she can't inherit the dojo because she's not a man. She was expressing her frustrations to zoro at that moment. It seemed she "fell down the stairs" because she felt hopeless and trapped by her situation and never being able to live out her dreams

    There are a lot of characters I'm looking forward to seeing in this show, but from what I've seen so far, they've done good in terms of casting. The rest of the Straw Hats, the Warlords, the Brother, and the Admirals just to name a few. However, I am worried about two things. One involves a group that Luffy meets a few arcs later than this while looking for the Brother. Considering how the real world is right now, some people might take issue with that group. Long time fans can guess who I'm talking about. Second, there's the rumor that I heard that a major character has been genderbent I guess is the best word, for the show. Kinda weird that they would do that while keeping so close to the appearance of the rest of the characters, well, except for Sham, but that's such a minor character I literally had to look up which one it was. I mean, sure there are some noticable differences, like Usopp's nose, but all-in-all they've kept the looks pretty consistent. Still, I'm gonna withhold judgement until I actually see the character.

    One of the best running jokes is that Zoro has no sense of direction. He gets lost twice in this episode. It's such a thing in the manga/anime that even one of the One Piece video games has the mini map and map screen get pixelated and unreadable qhen you play as Zoro.

    I still don’t get why in some sports where more than pure “muscle strength” plays a role, we still assume/expect a gender bias? I love that Mihawk points that out later too “it’s more than about strength”, because in most cases it is. Meaning: YES, a woman can defeat a man.
    (As past Olympics have shown in some categories too prior to them having a gender separation, woman did defeat man)

    Everyone is giving context to kuina's death but no one is talking about how kuina thinks she can't be the greatest because she's a girl because her dad said that to her after she heard him say he didn't want a woman to inherit the dojo, even if she was his only kid :/ hence there's a big theory that her father killed her but we still don't know anything else about it

    • @devaunbeats
      @devaunbeats 9 місяців тому +1

      She was a kid who fell down the stairs. That theory is just from people who don't want to accept the fact that sometimes people just die due to tragic accidents. What makes it so tragic is because it was such an insignificant death.
      There is 0 evidence or reason to think her dad killed her.

    Btw, this arc with Usopp was not giving full justice to him, they removed the 3 kids that was a group of "Usopp's Pirates" and there was a bit more action with more crew of Black Cat Pirates including a vice-captain named Jango (inspired from Michael Jackson) he just appear in a bounty poster in the series...

    I know women who are much stronger than a lot of men. They just need to not hold back and work hard. Just like a smaller man can be strong despite being small.
    I think that whole “no woman can beat a man” thing comes from a society where women are told their whole lives to be feminine and delicate and rely on men to protect them. It’s stupid.
    In the manga and in the anime it’s mentioned that Kuina fell down the stairs going to get a sharpening stone.
    There was a rumour started that “falling down the stairs” meant she killed herself but that was debunked.
    She literally was killed by Down D Stairs. People are fragile. Just a bad landing if you fall down the stairs can kill you sadly.
    That’s the tragic part of the story. She was finally ready to break the glass ceiling of female swordsmanship and a stupid accident cut it all short.
