TLDR. The future of Ford trucks is less reliable and more expensive. My F-150 5.0 coyote had a bad VVT solenoid in year 2 P0012 error code. Took to dealer they they solved nothing when the computer was literally telling them what specific part was failing. They did some software nonsense that temporarily cleared the code instead of replacing the $40 solenoid. My check engine and same code reappeared a few days after wasting my time with dealer warranty service. Watched some UA-cam and took a whole day and replaced the part myself. Fixed it and until the day I totaled that truck my replacement of that $40 solenoid fixed all my issues. So yeah screw Ford/dealer for wasting 5 days of my time keeping the truck only to solve nothing under warranty. Bought a Nissan Titan 5.6 V8 when it was time to get a new truck.

@scott7082 This is where experience comes into play. Sadly auto manufacturers don't want to pay, so all the experience technicians are leaving the industry. I wish you guys would bring a dose of reality into your reviews. Electric vehicles have been carrying huge government subsidies which has to be influencing sales numbers. If you really want to relate what the buying public really wants, try and wash some of that out of the analysis. A local Ford dealer here was sitting on 20 used lightnings because the subsidies are waning. What is the true demand for an electric truck?

Hey, I’ll say the same to you as I did to the last person who made this invalid argument. You are wrong, objectively. Here’s why: ford worked with state and local and federal agencies to drum up interest in the model t, there are many documentaries that talk about all the things ford and the local government did to incentivize us to drive the first mass production automobile. People would NOT have adapted had they not had those incentives.
Why is your argument not able to hold nuance and complexity? Why are you all so obsessed with things either being one way or the other when most of life is so far from being that simple? It’s just boring and I know you have more to offer.

While I agree that in a perfect world there would be no rebates, the fact is that tax incentives have been - and will be - used to either subsidize certain items to make it easier for folks to afford or to encourage young technologies to mature. This does not only happen with vehicles. Milk has been heavily subsidized in the US for decades and decades. Property owners insurance along the coast is subsidized - in different ways - by both states and the federal government - to encourage both high-value development and tourism. Pro sports teams have been heavily subsidized in stadium development to promote tourism (and a certain amount of local pride). Pickup trucks (ICE, not EV) in the US are protected from a lot of foreign competition by very high tariffs. The list goes on and on. If we are going to drop these sort of incentives, we should drop them for everything. That, however, would be massively disruptive to a very large number of industries.

The biggest let-down of the 2025 refresh is no ProPower Onboard offering for the hybrid or FX4 offering (would make it a soft-roading boondock camping KING).

If you think gas stations get sketchy EV chargers are worse. Gas pumps are under awnings, have lights, and are in sight of the attendant. DCFCs I have used are usually out of the way behind a gas station or far out in the parking lot. Most of the time there aren't even lights.

It's quick, has a whole lot of torque, MPGs almost unrivaled in a truck world. It does for me everything that I need exceptionally well. If 5% wants to drive electric cars, and other 5% want to only drive diesel trucks then be it, but don't force the rest of us to go one way or another.

Innovation never happens overnight. So, for example, in all likelihood 50 years from now energy cost will go to near zero and transportation will evolve, adapt and change with energy innovations. None of this happens overnight but change will 100% happen. So the sooner America gets on this innovation road and begins to fully embrace it, the better we compete and hopefully lead the world. Don’t find yourself being a flat earth evangelist, just simply learn to envision a little further ahead.

The GM 2.7 Turbo HO can be fuel efficient but it is completely reliant on driving style. Forget about fuel economy in the city with stop and go driving. On rural roads going 35-55 mph this power train really shines… I was able to get 30 mpg average on a 25 mile basis and 27 mpg average on a 50 mile basis. Towing my 5000 lb travel trailer it averages 11-12 mpg. Highway going 70 mph average around 23 mpg. The numbers above are on a stock 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab elevation with the 2.7 Turbo power train.

On the topic of getting people to adopt EVs, a huge stumbling block has always been the high price of an EVs compared to a regular ICE car, and yet our governments(US and Canadian) have slapped up to 100% tariffs onto affordable Chinese imports. WTH???? If seriously concerned about the environment, the apparent reason for the EV push and mandates, its an incredibly hypocritical and confusing move. Im sure a huge part of the population would gladly swap to EVs if they could afford to, especially given the benefits. With this move its very apparent that the whole venture is nothing but a money making scam, Thats a hard pill to swallow even if a guy wants to change.

“Gas prices are the lowest in recent history” is a pretty unhinged statement. If your memory goes back 4 years, ok. They went up like crazy over the last 4 years then contracted back a little bit. It’s not because of people driving EVs. It’s because it’s an election year and the current administration has been pulling from US strategic oil reserves to artificially deflate the prices while they seek reelection and try to hide inflation caused in large part by funding a losing foreign war. I won’t be thanking my neighborhood Tesla driver on that one.

Where I live, there are no charging stations in my neighborhood. All the charging stations are in rich neighborhoods and new residential developments. So I think the problem with buying an EV is you need to live in a house with a garage so you have someplace to charge it. The other problem with electric vehicle acceptance is where you live in the world and the climate you live in. I park on the street, and in the winter, it gets down to -45 degrees Celsius (-49 degrees Fahrenheit). So, I care more about vehicle reliability over the fuel economy.

There is a neighborhood that used to be farmland a few years ago, and now there is a strip mall with about 6-12 chargers in one spot in the middle of the parking lot. There is no big sign saying "EV CHARGING" visible from the street like "Chevron" or any gas station. You just stumble across them by accident. They need better signs, or maybe there is an app that EV owners use to find charging stations.

And another thing... the Audi's are still the second best marquee from Germany. Their RS models blow away their comp: the M's from bmw. Maybe it's the thin air and the diesel fumes?
BTW: the EVa don't work here because they haven't solved the range/time to recharge issue. This entire culture has been indoctrinated to expect to get 400 miles of range from a 10 minute fill up. EVs will not be in demand until Musk can engineer a beeak-thriugh in solar panel efficiency such that a panel on the hood will convert enough energy to keep the car charged.

Fleet owners amortize the value of the whole vehicle fleet, they cannot sell them for much at the end, but this covers the cost of the initial purchase.
Fleet buyers putting in a whole bank of chargers already have the heavy electric supply and large substations nearby to run their sorting and warehouse.
Old residential neighborhoods are going to find the defects in electricity supply the hard way, during extreme heat and cold

I don’t get all the fawning over the EV trucks. Does anybody really think they could hold up when having to endure the day in and day out abuses of real truck stuff. Color me skeptical but I find it hardly likely that an EV truck handle 10-12 hour days 5-6 days a week in construction or mining or agriculture or even the weekend warrior who wants bring his camper or boat more than 50 miles one way. EV’s are kind of the doodle of the truck world they’re ugly, kinda look like a truck, kinda act like a truck but largely useless for real truck stuff.

I can't get into electric trucks. I do like the idea of electric vehicles, but please don't give the environment, as a reason to own one, cause they are no better for the environment. Don't kid yourself. Maybe when batteries get more efficient, they will be better. also, the horrible resale value; like 50% after three years. ouch. I have an electric mower, it's kinda great, not a powerful, but yeah, easy. but not a good comparison to cars. an electric car is more way more complicated than a lawnmower. plus my mower didn't cost nearly $80-100K.
