When TFL took the Tacoma on the "Toaster Test" Andre said the "normal" operating transmission temperature of the Tacoma is 220 degrees Fahrenheit. So it's not surprising that the Toyota Tacoma has transmission problems. A transmission can never run too cool. The hotter a trans gets, the faster it causes premature wear (damage) on the internal rubber seals and the aluminum valve bodies. Towing uphill with an aftermarket trans oil cooler, the temperature should stay under 212 Fahrenheit (100 Celsius). At 230 degrees Fahrenheit (110 degrees Celsius) the transmission is too hot. At 248 Fahrenheit (120 Celsius) you should be looking for somewhere to pull over.
Usual guidance for selling a modifed vehicle is that youll get about 1/3rd of what you put into the vehicle back. Modifications are very personal and everyone wants something a little different. Roman, what's better, having a super fuel efficient diesel. Or one that uses MORE fuel? Modern diesel theory lets consume for fuel, urea to save the environment.
Great content as always guys... SO - Having owned a turbo tuning business in Denver, I can tell you that boosting turbos and tuning engines at altitude is often more of a good thing than a bad one. Generally the modern engine management systems are WAY too fuel rich and air low (conservative to anticipate detonation) and dont properly compensate for the 5000-8000 ft ASL around the front range of CO. So, the Denver 100 could have better MPG IF that Ford tune is worth anything. I cant wait to see the results.
I think we do have to acknowledge that there has been at least one cybertruck towing a trailer where the rear end did break off in a similar manner under normal towing conditions.

13:52 I refuse to accept that our only two options are the extremely crappy DEF system OR rolling coal. You can't tell me that with human ingenuity we could not come up with a better solution to this issue.
Its all in the tuning. The problem is when you tune the truck to run lean, which means no coal rolling, it also increases cylinder pressure and temperature and NOx output rises, which is the whole reason for the SCR and DEF. Anything below something like 18 or 20:1 air fuel ratio in a diesel and you start to get soot. Thats why they have a DPF. So they are stuck balancing between the two. Which is why you have both a DPF and DEF/SCR.

@@gnoxycat , the aspects that you mention need to be included in conversation, yes. But while I chose to chime in myself above, I for one do not anticipate the UA-cam comments section getting us very far in our differences in understanding. What I would need to see is an non-biased, in-depth study of the overall emissions created over the life of a typical EV vs a typical ICE vehicle, and I have not seen many of those that appear to me to be either entirely legitimate or thorough enough. The couple of video presentations that seemed to me be the closest echo what I shared initially. I would anticipate that in a country such as Norway with most electricity generation from renewables, or France with a lot of nuclear, that the overall emissions created by an EV would be considerably less, as you contend. But in most other areas of the world I am very skeptical based on what I have read. I would genuinely appreciate if you have any references to share that include more in-depth analyses on the subject, as I would likely enjoy those. It does seem to me that going forward, as the battery technology improves (assuming some things such as the necessary metals remaining sufficiently abundant) and IF most countries are able to move to mostly clean energy, that EVs may likely be the future. But I’m not entirely sure that is all a given. Even Toyota has essentially stated that they are not sold on EVs being the future.

Idk what kinda trucks you have on the roads in Colorado but in Los Angeles you see plenty of old beat up and abused trucks, paint nearly gone, more dents than the surface of the moon and occasional battle scars from fender benders or a bed side impact, yet still working whether it be hauling landscapers equipment, independent mechanics, plumbers, and electricians etc.
As those trucks get older and cycle through the used market some people will probably think huh which of these won’t get bricked.
I'd say, given the pattern you've done in the past with HD pickups, you've had a Ford, and you've had a Ram, why not go Chevy or GMC, granted the Ford you had was gas powered.
I think a Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra with a Allison transmission and a duramax would be a great next truck.
1 def is almost entirely useless, 2 a deleted diesel should not roll coal, all it does is help your diesel run cleaner (not choaking on its own soot), it increases horsepower and torque. And the sale truck in canada doesnt have the same bullshit on it.
You know, you cursed the Tacoma by naming it "Blu-Berry".
Nickolas Corner
I'd not buy a lifted truck used unless it was a factory lift.
I disagree. The four-cylinder is not OK in a truck. It’s your truck for God sake. It needs more. But that’s just my opinion.
Toyota put you in a dangerous situation with a brand new truck, toyota and Toyota alone are responsible for that, if they dont want to be put on blast than build a quality product! I'd love to see how they would have handled it if it was joe blows truck.
But if you are gunna sell it… Let me Know lol
You know why your insurance rates have doubled America? Well, electric cars are so expensive to repair, insurance companies have to increase insurance across the board to cover the cost. Isn’t that awesome?
What do EV repairs have to do with insurance? Why would replacing the windshield or a body panel on my Chevy Bolt cost more than a regular car?
Did the EPA payoff u guys now too?!? 🤣😂🤣
Funny how you guys crab about being bumped in line for a vehicle, or complain that you’re in line and not getting one and yet admit you jump people to get a Tacoma. Only if it is beneficial it’s ok. Got it.
Great video guys nevertheless.
They also promote the companies vehicles. The car manufacturers benefit a lot more than TFL IMO.
They have gotten a lot more brown nose than the early days so they can get flown to vehicle launches & drives.
@@J.Young808 i guess, If your not first your last haha

My f150 fits in my garage.
You got a big garage
@@TFLtalk perhaps, they don't don't build houses like they used to. My house was build in 85.
😂 my f150 doesn't fit. House built in 1973 😢 new big garage being built this year.
@@leechburglights what? My garage isn't that big. Maybe because houses in my area were designed with the washer and dryer in the garage. To me it's a standard 2 car garage, although it is bigger than my buddies which is a newer house.
My Grandpa built the house I live in, in the 1950’s. The carport barely fits a 2017 Tacoma DCSB and 2021 Prius. Grandma’s 1995 Tercel 2-door and 1995 xtra cab Tacoma fit much better.
I’m very sure Roman was having a few yuppie pissy fits with this video time for his retirement .
Roman, if y’all cared about the environment so much, why do yall talk highly of EVs?
EVs don’t hit net neutral before the batteries need to be replaced
Nope, please stop passing along Fox News talking points. The facts are EVs use more energy to build but much less energy over their lifetime. Unlike your phone’s battery EV batteries don’t need to be replaced because they are climate controlled. There are 15-year-old Teslas running around with 90 percent of their battery still usable. These are facts, not opinions or news stories designed to make you watch more or click more.
I drove Uber/Lyft with a BMW 328d diesel and switched to a Model Y. I could go further and it cost me less to operate the diesel (had to charge everyday sometimes 2x, only filled diesel every 7-10 days). Plus the electrical grid can barely support the current load (California asking people not to charge EV’s). My Aunt lived in Studio City, CA last and all around L.A. her whole adult (1968 freshman year at USC) life until she move home to Honolulu in 2013. She was always talking about rolling Brown Outs. My Maternal Grandmother lived in Hollister, CA and mentioned Brown Outs often, she moved to Ft. Collins, CO in 1989.
I am currently in a 2023 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 Access Cab after Lemon Law’ing my Model Y due to the A/C breaking 3 times in the first 6months, the first time was 22 days after I picked it up.
@@TFLtalk funny that you say fox news when it’s not…it’s called doing your own research without any sort of media intervention, fox is just as biased as liberal outlets.
Pretty soon, the EPA will be rained in hopefully eliminated
"Rolling coal" most people dont care about that. Most people care about having a long-lasting, reliable diesel engine. Emission systems take all of that away. So it's not about blowing smoke. And the amount of smoke that a single truck is gonna make isn't going to affect anyone or anything. I like your channel mostly for the other guys on it. But you sound like the biggest snowflake sometimes. And I'd like to know what the difference between the white 12 valve cummins on the channel blowing smoke and a deleted diesel blowing smoke?
Bit of advice for you Roman. Probably not a good idea to endlessly shit on your audience. You are starting to make your channel unwatchable.
There's a channel out there for you.
Who did he shit on?
Roman this has ALWAYS been Toyota. They are NOT as good as every says.
Thumbs down since you can’t see how many you get.
@@brucesmith8486 found the toyota fanboy 😆🙄
A deleted diesel with the right tune isn't gonna make barely any smoke, and its also going to get over 20 mpg. Speaking of rolling coal, my proposal for protecting the environment is outlawing automotive test channels driving up the ike gauntlet endlessly that the manufacturer has already done, outlawing auto testing channels from flying on airplanes that routinely "roll coal" requiring automotive test channels to publish their monthly fuel usage, we need to protect our environment.
PS I do not own a diesel truck, I have never owned a diesel truck and all three of my vehicles have functioning emissions systems.
PPS. This is satire except for my vehicle statement.
The lesson here? Toyota isnt as great as everyone touts.
So you didn't HAVE TO call Toyota. You WANTED to call them.
And they are covering all the issues.
Has any brand released a full redesign without any issues?

@@ravensfootball52 no. But that's not the point.
Drive an electric truck and dont worry about pollution....
😂 more pollution to build an ev
Electric vehicles, in the US anyway, produce as much or more pollution than vehicles with internal combustion engines. The production of the electricity that charges the batteries produces significant pollution as does the mining of the metals that go into the batteries. “EVs produce less pollution” is propaganda.
@@AlowisciousMahoney If you drive a Tesla Model 3 for 30k miles, then set it on fire, recycling nothing. You are still better off than driving a Toyota Camry over 30k miles. You have to mine, refine, transport, pump and burn 100lbs of oil every week to keep that Camry running. It adds up quick!

Even Toyota has essentially stated that they are not sold on EVs being the future.
just get a diesel truck that has no DEF like trucks from the 80s 90s or even 70s and then you do not have to worry about DEF ever.
