James, you're looking like a happy man, almost more relaxed and animated than we've ever seen before - and that's despite the weather, and lack of views!
Absolutely brilliant James well done! I did these a few weeks ago and I managed Ben Challum too taking me to 102 Out of them all these were the toughest so loved the video 🥰😊
Oh dear! I wonder how you manage to never loose your path under these conditions. The upside of having these experiences at the end of your Munro-journey: you haven’t been discouraged or stressed in the beginning😊. Thank you ever so much for this one, James!
Title and weather made me smile - I just returned from similar on Ladhar Bheinn (last big trip - 281!), weather so bad that ferries got cancelled the days following. Let’s hope it improves in the coming weeks to enjoy your last few !!! 🎉
@@TerminalSump 😂 the weather has been awful.. nice when did you do it? Im just back from Ladhar Bheinn today and the ferry was a bit ropey 😂 your so close? What one is last for you?
@@ScottishMunroJourney Unfortunately the cloud never got over 600m and I got very very wet. I will have to go back, had high hopes for Ladhar Bheinn could tell is was good but logistics and living further south made it hard to avoid the weather! Final Munro is Beinn Na Lap with family, friends and anyone who fancies a celebration. Trying to find a date that works however is difficult and that probably means finishing in the clag 😂
James, thanks for you videos over the last few years. You've been an inspiration and a good source of information for my own journey into the mountains. Hopefully the sun is splitting the sky for no.282....all the best 👍
Can’t wait to see your video up An Teallach. I’m going to do a wild camp up there and fingers crossed for a cloud inversion. It’s absolutely stunning looking towards Sgurr Fiona and the pinnacles
I'm gutted that I haven't made it to Scotland to do any Munros this summer but seeing what the weather has been like in July maybe that's not such a bad thing. Love these videos, keep them coming.
A break in the weather allowed me to attempt Conival and Ben Mor Assynt on Monday with my daughter's fiancé. Conival was in the clag when we arrived at the top but both summits cleared as we made our way between the two. On Ben Mor Assynt we got chatting to two Scottish ladies one of whom only has one summit left to do in the Nevis range, I can't remember its name. We had good views all the way back from there, but this was one arduous hike. For me it was Munro number 5, but being 62 years old and living about half an hour north of Portsmouth, I can't see myself completing all of them.
Well done James - the final countdown is on, i was hoping to join u for Munro #282 but I'm going to be away on holiday for a few days. Hope u get good weather for it. I did those two munros in sweltering heat during June 23 - never again 😊
Good to meet you on Ben More Assynt, @NeilUpfold. My friend’s last Munro to compleat is Sgurr Choinnich Mor at the end of the Grey Corries. Hoping for a better day than some we’ve had this year. Real soaking on Sgurr Mor and the big Affric hills. Don’t when I’ve been quite so wet and cold, so Monday’s improving weather as the day went on was very welcome! Hope you get a good day for your last one, James, and thanks for the videos!
Well Done James!! I did these two HORRID hills recently, and I thought they were some of the toughest I've ever walked. I'm so delighted for you that you are so close to compleating!
Well done James. Especially in those conditions. Looked like a tough hike. Shame you didnt get much views. Looking forward to your next one. Hopefully you'll get the views on your final munro. I still have it off so should be their. Looking forward to it. Take care Alan
Well done pal. Been a terrible year for weather. G£0 £ng£n££r1ng has been relentless. Many aware but many cant/wont see it. Hopefully better winter season ahead. All the best.
Another great film James despite the weather which has been dreadful in South Wales too. You show just how difficult Munros can be yet can still be a brilliant experience. I really hope you get good weather up Ben Cruachan, the views are awesome and the last part of the ascent is a tricky boulder climb. I would have loved to join you on your last Munro but it is a long way from South Wales and I just don`t have the time!
Well your luck has really run out and YES this summer has been poor, not helped by inaccurate or optimistic forecasts. The glimpse of your next hill in good weather looks like you are back to good views. You said in your review it took 6 hours of walking - how much extra time do you spend in making the videos? Thanks for the effort, really appreciate the videos. Geoff.
Hi James, this weather this summer has been pretty miserable hasn't it? Another great video, at least you managed to get a glimpse of some views, even if it was for a very short period of time. Haha Thank you for sharing as always mate.
I attempted these two last Wednesday from the same place but anti clockwise I walked up the zig zag road to the reservoir and got rained off 😢 my wee dog was not happy. I had to turn back and save it for another day 😮😮
James, do you ever get scared ? :) I definitely always scared when hiking solo lol u always seem so confident especially in new areas. I'd like to follow in your footsteps:) shud take me about 30yrs lol M ☘️
Mmmm maybe a smart way of doing those two 🤔 You didn't show much of your descent route , I've still to do these two and they are the closest to me .. I was also looking for a different way to do them.. I recognised the wee Loch south east of the last munro.. then did you sort of double back and down.? I was looking to head for the top of 909m just beyond that wee Loch then head south.. like you anything to avoid the bog that's to the east ... I can see the route you cycled but the whole route on your map would be good.. You did well knocking them out in that weather 👍
I was wondering this too as thinking of heading there tonight for a high camp. On Strava you can see some faint scattered heatmaps heading S, SSE of that lochan that also follow some burn lines. I'm going to scope that out or just double back.
Just done Beinn Challum yesterday, nearly 3 miles through bog, and then clouds and rain sitting at 700 metres, plus a slight 30-40 mph breeze. Don't know how you've done IT, and Bein Chabhair in one day, jeez. Looked what else is in the area, and found these two. Just a quick look at the path on strava, and I knew these would be tough. So you went straight down from Beinn Heasgarnich? How was the descent? The alternative being the 3 miles of bog to the east...
These two seem to get a lot of stick unfortunately for their boggy nature, but it looks like an entertaining climb in this video, despite the weather. I wonder if an ascent from Glen Lyon would be even better though, as both the mountains present craggy faces in that direction- or maybe that's how I think of these mountains as that is the side of the mountain that I am familiar with.
James - I just discovered another channel done in Scotland - and she uses a lightweight drone, that could save you from doing some backtracking as you film your munro climbs: ua-cam.com/video/GoxxV1ncJGU/v-deo.html

Another nice trip. Getting close to the finish line. Look forward to your next outing.

Another classic day on the green southern hills going through bogs in the rain.☔️ brings back memories 😅 almost there with the munros now!

tsk. I see you forgot the sun cream. Preparation is everything haha. What a dismal summer!
@ScottishMunroJourney how are the La Sportiva TX5s treating you?? Would you recommend as a munro boot? cheers and nice videos!
