Thank you so much for this workout! I had a severe larynx infection in December-February this year and my voice breaks when reaching the high notes now. I have to concentrate on the note I like to sing and somehow force it out, and even then can't hold it for long... Before I had no problem with this and did reach them nearly effortlessly, with a clear sound. I am so sad it is gone but hope to regain the ability with exercise and singing.
Yeah! When I do these warm-ups before shows, it's crazy high, but then I feel pretty warmed up! Any exercises you think would be helpful in my next set of videos?
SingersGuide hi these are really awesome exercises and they help me alot. But i really have a problem with the vibratos. Could you suggest me any effective exercises to become an expert in vibratos?
Thanks for this warm-up video!! However, the ma, May, Me, Mo Mooooo warm-up is rather very hard to do the higher you go so it might be easier to swich to just pplain 'Aaah as you go higher.Thanks.
I love this warm up! I've used it every morning before I have rehearsal because it's so effective! It's super hard to do in the morning but I'm always warmed up pretty well and ready to sing afterwards!

For friends that are experiencing some weird vocal changes during mid school to high school it is because your voice is changing to more mature voice so you might want to let ur voice go easy for that period of time which is usually about anywhere from 12 to 15? 16? 17? 18????? It depends on ur body how long it takes😅😅😅😊
I WOULD SAY THAT DURING THAT TIME U CAN DRINK SOME SOOTHINGTEAS AND MAYBE( depends on how your throat reacts to sugars and “garbage foods’) eat less sugars and garbage foods.😢😢😢 though I love “GARBAGE FOODS”😅😅
Thank you so much for this warmup! I am using it as I practice for Texas All State Choir auditions :) I have a question, how do you sing the m consonant so high? Do you have a certain trick? When I get that high, I can only sing the vowels haha the m makes it difficult to make a nice sound for me
This is Dianne KOUTRAS , I took about 13 years private lessons From the age of 10 or 11 on . 57 now and I will always sing. Thanks Kristen . I am going to send you a email . I'd like to join (:
Tiffany Allen simply play scales on the piano (i don’t have one so i downloaded on my phone), and start middle and sing each note, going higher and higher until it’s not comfortable for you to do so anymore. same thing going down from middle. generally if your best notes are from the third to the 5th scale, you’re a mezzo!
Hello, I just came across this great video! I have a problem of connecting my chest voice to mixed voice (at around E4-F#4), it always cracks! Do you have any exercises for training transition from chest/head voice to mixed voice? :)
Thank you, when, I sing in concerts in the London theatre I always do this not so high exercises. Well, I am a coloratura Soprano. Could you please make a video that warms up the Coloratura Sopranos? Just to let you know, my vocal range is from F4 to G6. Anyway, if not, that warm-up for Sopranos is very useful. Thank you.
Hey Kristen!! I'm really more of an alto... can I still use this for effective warmups? I feel like as I'm listening to this, I need some guidance on how to hit some of these notes correctly.
Can you do a video on how to not tense up when getting higher?? I do this every time and it sometimes hurts only a little!! Im a Soprano in my choir so i need to break free of this!!
I really want to hit that note! I do everything to sing very high but i still can't. I'm a mezzo soprano, but i can sing higher. Can you tell me what to do to hit that note? I really want to be soprano!
Just about got to the very highest note! About 2 or 3 from the top of the scale, so hopefully that will come. I have read that as well as being a great singer, actor etc, you are also a dancer. That is very interesting because I am a fully trained ballroom and latin American dancer, but I am more adept in the latin side. I am semi pro and an ex-competitor - just thought you would like to know! My grateful thanks again.
That's amazing! Those are some incredibly high note! With all classes cancelled, I've been doing an hour of Zumba inspired dance from home to keep in shape! I have a vide coming this month sharing the results of doing so much cardio! :)
I am a soprano, warming up in order to record the beautiful song Auld Lang Syne, for my next music video. Had a few attempts already but wasn't that happy with them................ so having another go today! Luckily we have a recording studio at home!
Question: when it gets really high, all the sound comes out of my nose. If I try to open my throat more, it’s harder. Is this expected? Are these “whistle tones?”
SingersGuide I'm not the original commenter, but perhaps a video about singing in head vs chest voice and bridging the vocal break? I know I have a lot of trouble with that. Anyway, thank you so much, this video is super helpful!
That's a great suggestion! Definitely something I address in my music studio each week! Easiest tip to work on this: do at least 5 minutes of vocalizing daily and focus on your breath. A lot of times singers can feel they are reaching the break and tensing up, making it even more difficult to adjust into head voice! More tips coming soon! -Kristen
SingersGuide Thank you so much!! I'll definitely use this advice! I'm planning on trying out for a role in a muscial where there are just a few notes I have to use chest voice for and the transition is so awkward. >//< (also wow you responded so quickly and nicely and just aaaaah you are such a cool vocal-coach person)
The chords go I, V, I (Tonic, Subdominant, Tonic) Let me know what other kinds of videos would be helpful! I started this channel when I worked as a singer on cruise ships to make sure I warmed up, but now want to know how to help you guys more! :)
Hi Virginia! I recommend doing these exercises a few times a week - whether it's for a lesson or just practicing at home. I have students who actually do these videos in the shower or while driving. :)
Can I ask something ? I am a soprano and started my lessons for two months now. How high is this ? Because I tend to sing much higher and i feel that it is going low too early
P.S.The last warm-up you did, 'the lip trill, would have been better to do in the beginning as that's another good warm-up to do as you are just starting out, then you can go into the humming ones.
Hi Kaitlyn: I am sorry but I disagree. I think humming is the right way to start. Yes, the lip trills could have come after humming, but I don't think before that. I hope you don't mind my perspective on this subject. James
