IT'S FINALLY HERE - ONE Note; There is ONE episode towards the end where I had to use UA-cam's weird AI thing to remove the song for copyright reasons, so if the audio sounds kinda funky there then that's why! Either way thanks for your patience and be sure to check out the Ranking Stickers! sharkrobot.com/products/ls-mark-sticker-set?_pos=3&_sid=51109c4ea&_ss=r
If American Dad has a million fans, then I am one of them. If American Dad has ten fans, then I am one of them. If American Dad has only one fan, then that is me. If American Dad has no fans, that means I'm dead. If the world is against American Dad, then I am against the world.
american dad is 100% the better show. there's definitely a decline IMO but it doesn't get nearly as unbearable as family guy's lows. i hope mark likes it, his opinion will be really interesting as someone who hasn't watched it before
My fiancé and I watch American Dad pretty frequently, and it's the show we leave on most often for background noise, too. Yeah, it has a decline, but the best of the TBS years often make me laugh as hard as the best of FOX. "In Country, Club" and "The Grounch" are both top-tier in my eyes and they're from completely disparate eras.
The decline is mostly just the series embracing the craziness. I'd still say the newer stuff is way better than Family Guy or even Simpsons even tho apparently Simpsons has had some pretty good episodes in it latest 2 seasons
@@gabepollock1641 when I was in high school and then college, my family and I would watch American together all of the time. It brings people together!
For real, especially the newer seasons. They are absurd, but in such a good way. Almost Rick and Morty-esque levels of absurdity humor😂 idk, it just works with how wacky the cast is.
Thw rost thign i could say about the show is that episodes feel like theyre just 2 B stories stuck together. Theyre wacky and funny, but missing that feeling of importance and emotion.
Or when Roger is at Hidekis party and Gary GoGo is gonna be there and Roger is looking all over for him and then finds him and he's like "Oh fr you're Gary GoGo? I thought it was gonna be me."
@@brandonanderson4128or the episode where Francine has a famous painting of her lady bits and when they’re showing the biography of the painter, Hailey said to Roger “I thought he was going to be you” and Roger is like “funnily enough, so did I…”
Something I think has helped American Dad is that as far as the children are concerned, I think Steve and Hailey have WAY more personality than Meg and Chris. So it makes writing plots centered around either of them a lot easier and funnier
all the characters in this are more complex and fleshed out than the family guy characters which makes them more versatile. even between lois and francine the difference is huge, lois was designed as nothing more than the straight man for peter's shenanigans whereas francine has her own quirks talents and interests, you can make episodes where francine is the one getting in shenanigans and stan has to play the role of the straight man, whereas with lois it wouldn't really work because peter is too whacky and stupid for that scenario
Huh wow I never realized this yeah. Hailey and Steve get a lot of episodes that at least has them getting in all manor of crazy stuff. While Meg and Chris don't especially Chris, out of the family he tends to get spotlight episoes less.
I agree. Especially hailey. Hailey has so much depth in her character. Yk what her beliefs are and she can have very good role in each episode unlike Chris and Meg. Even with Steve aswell

"Getting away from the wackiness of the former series for something more grounded, more in line with your average live action sitcom" Ohh Mark if only you knew LMAO
@@wakkaseta8351 Also My Favorite Martian. And Mork and Mindy. And Third Rock from the Sun. And Kang and Kodos. Dang, aliens really are a sitcom staple.
One thing that American Dad has over Family Guy especially is that the Smiths still feel like a family after all this time. They have conflicts for the plot, but it always resolves with them being a family. Meanwhile, everyone in the Griffin house fuckin hates each other. Stan & Francine actually love each other, and aren’t miserable together. Since they were both pretty crazy from the start, the show is able to have both of them be the loose cannon while the other has to be the logical one. And they still manage to have sweet moments together twenty seasons in, instead of relying on the timeless joke of “I hate my wife.”
Agreed! I personally find the Stan and Francine dynamic a hell of a lot funnier than a married couple who hate each other like Peter and Lois. I watch them and just think they should get a divorce. Stan and Francine are so in love that they will do the craziest things for each other, like when they tried to kill Clooney. It's very Gomez and Morticia - esque. There's so much room for stories when you have characters like that
@@fosternova4434Yes, like the episode where Stan goes blind and Francine stops working out😂 I love that they ended this story with "wait, I married you with the idea of you working" and he's like "same, and I can't work if I'm blind to forget your ugliness" and they just go back to how it was😂
I like that every now and then when Stan and Francine are sitting together they have a little pose, like his arm around her or something While Family just has them sitting in stock arms down deadeye poses each time
I feel like Family Guy is a show with normal plots but insane gags, which American Dad has insane plots with normal gags. Like in Family Guy you'll get a random joke of a toilet coming to life which comes out of nowhere, but in American Dad the toilet will come to life and have a casual conversation with the family which is funny, until the toilet gets arrested by the IRS for tax evasion and the family has to ban together with the sentient manifestation of the number 7 to overthrow the government.
Ironicallly, it’s the opposite with animals. FG has talking animals in spades, but very few exist in AD. Klaus and Reginald are essentially the only recurring ones, and both of them have brains of humans.
Look, I get that the any% speedruns of American dad are very popular, but you’re the first one who ran the full completion category in each chapter. That is impressive.
absolutely love how not only do you keep changing the music up but you actually give us the names when they play so frustrating when content crfeators dont mention what songs they use
The after school special means so much to me because of how well it portrays anorexia. The way they portray the mental aspect of an e.d. With Zach is well done, for me, my brain definitely felt like it was verbally hurting me to lose weight. Not to mention the reveal of how Stan is super skinny. After fully recovering from my ed, watching this episode hurts, but I love of how well it represents this ever growing issue
this. people don't realize anorexia is a delusion until it's too late some try to lose weight, some just refuse to eat, and some are too depressed to eat but most anorexics don't know they have a problem until it is too late. I'm part of the lucky few, I have a naturally fast metabolism, and starving myself because of anorexia in high school, caused me to drop from 180 lb to 125 in less than a few months the fact that I'm at least 150 or above now is a saving Grace. but the day I got rid of anorexia was the day I was able to reach 215 lbs. I'm only about 180 now but I feel a hell of a lot healthier and happier I'm 6 ft 2, I need that extra weight otherwise I am anorexic.
Its tragically ironic that eating disorders are dillusions, but we also think dillusion=not real AT ALL even though thats not how it feels on the inside. And neither side of a dillusion can grasp what the other sees
It was so surreal as a kid seeing my dad watch that episode, realizing how much I related to it. The personification always felt so real during my ED, I genuinely felt like it was another person sonetimes. The way they portrayed it was more accurate than most serious ED awareness content I've ever seen
As a huge american dad fan, one of my favorite things about this video is how good of a job you do 'summarizing' the episodes -- and it's not summarizing, it's just contextualizing for the sake of analysis. You've got good intuition for what does and doesn't need to be included for the sake of commentary. Also, your point that american dad is like the simpsons in how the stories end up in places completely unrelated to where they started is a really good observation I never realized.
American dad is unironically my favorite animated sitcom, it scratches an itch that none of the contemporaries seem to scratch. I feel its way underrated and i'm always happy to see it getting some attention
SAAAAMMEEE! American Dad is somehow super popular and underrated at the same time. I have no idea how it works but it seems to be in that middle area where enough people have heard about it but not everyone has. I love when more people give this show a chance!
I very much appreciate how much work Mark puts into these, but I do wonder if watching them in such a condensed way makes it a bit unfair for the later episodes. Like, even if a show is good the whole way through, you can get tired of it if you watch too much of it too quickly. I mostly say that because, while I do think there are some weak or straight up bad episodes, I always thought the quality of the seasons overall never really dipped too far down. It's genuinely shocking to me how much Mark hates or dislikes some of the later season episodes.
i was thinking the same thing. some of my favourite episodes are in the later seasons but i watched most of them as they came out originally rather than binging them
I think that basically applies to most of these marathon videos lol, bingewatching can make or break someone, and it’s clear for Mark that it has made it more annoying with certain shows.
Its probably the nature of having to binge this kind of show and take notes for all of it but i swear some of the takes here seem to come from a place of not actually paying enough attention to have got what went on in the episode.
every single one of his rankings is like this and it’s so annoying. like he for some reason forces himself to watch all of these shows in such a quick succession which leads to burnt out and he always starts being a lot more easily tilted in the later halves 😩
The clip starting at 1:16:45 "Behold, a grown man weeping like a-" *chair smash* "Are you crying?" "OF COURSE I'M CRYING, HE HIT ME WITH A CHAIR!" That whole exchange was one of the first things I ever saw of American Dad in reruns/syndication on cable and it sold me on the show immediately. "OF COURSE I'M CRYING, HE HIT ME WITH A CHAIR" is the perfect mix of dumbfounded and injured.
Never forget that the Hot Tub episode where the family dies was intended to be the series finale and the entire show would have ended with Cee Lo Green just unceremoniously announcing that Stan died
Haha right 😂 It's one of my favorite jokes in the whole series. The way it just abruptly ends was so funny to me. I know it annoyed some people but I wasn't one of them. Hot Water will always be my favorite AD episode ❤
@@Mohamed-dx5ylDunno it's kinda like you wanna have feedback if that makes sense Doing something for like an hour trying to get something is very anti ADHD You sorta go get random hobbies for all of 10 minutes (maybe occasionally do them like a couple times a month) Also we have bad time perception For example This video having new music every minute or two with it being slightly louder at the start allows a lot of alteration. (It's the reason we like UA-cam shorts) E.g. I like doing stuff with a bit of music in the background even if I'm not paying attention to it or having a video in the background. We like having mini obsessions Having like 5 hours of decent background stuff is sooo nice as I don't have to pay attention especially when I actually like American dad I'm like a jack of all trades who forgets he did those things Also I can focus on the most stupid stuff for hours but afterwards just feel sick (the energy from my core is just gone then I just act like way way lazy) even though I assume others can focus for hours with that same energy without feeling off (though this is typically cleaning by moving stuff around the house or searching for some old forms or paper as in something I dislike) I do like using my fingers to undo pens or unscrew screws (Though I do also have autism so may be both combined on some of these points) Hope this helped your random desire to find out
i know i do, i respect mark’s opinion though, i understand how lewis’ batshit insanity might be too much for some, but it’s the right amount of stupid for me
2:36:25 I think we often forget just how monumentally huge Breaking Bad was when it first released. I've heard stories from prisoners in the US who saved up enough money from their prison jobs during incarceration to buy a tiny transparent television which could only display B/W with Mono audio and then inviting all their prison buddies to their cell to watch the latest episodes when they were coming out. Shit was so big even prisoners were trying to watch it.
It really allowed them to have a lot more fun with the writing of the show, without ever having to COMPLETELY sacrifice what it originally set out to do. The political angles could still show up and be part of the story, but turning it down as a concept made the show more accessible, more able to be funny and more able to survive the inevitable onset of seasonal rot, that afflicted Family Guy. It really helps that it made pretty wise decisions, character wise, that gave them unlimited options.
This! There were some great episodes in first seasons, but I did not liked political-stuff and also I did not liked Stan and Haley. So, I stop watching a show. Now I am really happy I gave American Dad a another chance. Both characters are much better now. Also I think Roger was first little bit boring, when he was hiding in Smith house.
One thing I like about american dad is that Stan and francen love eachother with the occasional episode were they fall out as with family guy, they hate eachother with the occasional episode were they like eachother.

How fitting that both Family Guy and American Dad get Mark’s favourite episode from their third season. But seeing American Dad getting a consistent streak of 10 good seasons while Family only got like 5 maximum is quite impressive for being “The Younger Brother.”
I love how Steve getting boobs is when Mark thinks this show gets crazy at first when they go on to kill Santa, time travel, have Roger be responsible for disco, and so much more.
Whats really nice is that Steve having boobs isn't that big of a deal in the show. The true plotline is how he's objectified. Its not "Steve has to explain his boobs to everyone and they think he's weird." That plotline would've been something seen just a decade and a half ago.
Season 14 you legitimately said most of them were mid, or actually good and then at the end you said the whole season was bad haha, I can't read you sometimes Mark
I remember reading how a College Professor had his class watch the Jeff loses his hat part, saying it was a really good representation on someone with OCD losing something.
Genuinely I was waiting for this since Simpsons🙏. American Dad was the show I watched during a really bad depressive state so it has cemented itself in my heart. Hearing you not call it a bad family guy clone in the start was so relieving.
this. I was going through grief, trauma, and anxiety/depression. American Dad genuinely inspired me to neutralize my politics, which very much relieved stress. that I can have a political stance without having to match it. this show helped me unbrainwash my extreme politics at the time; realizing I was either a Haley or a Stan; when I should be a Steve or a Francine (or even a roger) basically, look for the truth (Steve), live in ignorance (Francine), or revel in society's weirdness (Roger) rather than ascribing yourself to weed and liberal politics; or being a pawn of the government and conservative politics.
This is the most random thing to be salty about but the Stan snapping people and pretending they dont exist bit is hilarious to me. Maybe just because of how absolutely petty it is and the idea of someone doing that in real life is so unhinged. Especially since its not just for his family and he starts doing it in public. I dont know, I just think its a hysterical idea. That and I love the delivery of him just saying "Gone!"
I feel what makes American Dad better the Family guy in my opinion is consistency and growth. The jokes are consistently funny but you can see a growth in quality not a decline.
I love these ranking videos but I think an inherent flaw is that comedy series aren't great for binging. A lot of these more mediocre episodes are better watching them in isolation. But I imagine them feeling worse when you're going one after another to get the ranking video out
I disagree. The show started to have a steady decline sometime in the 10th season just before the show moved to TBS. Since then, the show went from a good show, to a bad to show to just a mediocre show. The latter half of the show has consistently flat gags, jokes and storylines and doesn't really feel as inventive as it once did. There will occasionally be a good too great episode that feels reminiscent of the earlier seasons but overall, the show has just become generally mediocre with some redeeming qualities here and there. There isn't really much growth and more a steady decline followed by a plateau.
@@ewetwentythree Hard disagree about the show not being bingeable. I can watch the first 10-ish seasons of American Dad and not feel like the show has gone stale, the only time I ever really feel that's the case is with the latter half of the series.
YAAAAASSS!!!! American Dad is one of the best adult animated shows of all time! Somehow the show is still as sharp and whitty and fun as ever! They always manage to make up fun scenarios and stories for their characters, and they do a lot of movie parodies without ever beating the viewer over the head with it. It's very clear that the crew who works on this show have a real passion for the characters and the world they have built in Langley Falls. No character feels like they are underutilized, as they all get something to do every season. It's amazing how the characters haven't been flanderized even after 20 years on the air. They change and grow over time, but they still feel like THEMSELVES!! And can we talk about the voice actors for a second? They are all SO AMAZING! Wendy Schall, Scott Grimes, Dee Bradley Baker, Rachel McFarlane, and Seth McFarlen all give it their 110% voicing these characters. I couldn't imagine anyone else taking their place. They ARE these characters. I'm so glad you decided to give American Dad another chance. It deserves all the praise and love in the world. This has been my comfort show since I was a teenager and it still is today. Every episode has at least one joke that gets me to laugh out loud. I couldn't imagine my life without American Dad in it, as it was very formative in molding my sense of humor. And the American Dad fandom is one of the best fandoms I've ever been a part of. We all love this show as much as the people who make it for us. ❤ My favorite episode of American Dad is "Hot Water" with a VERY close second place being "Joint Custody."
I feel like the American Dad fanbase is either so quiet or smaller than a lot of fanbases to where they’re kind of hiding in secret and one day you find out you know one. Like a Canadian or something.
I respect the HELL out of LS Mark for doing these. It's one thing to watch through a series and give overall thoughts on it, but to watch, review and rank every episode of a series is no easy feat. And he's done it for so many shows by now. It's truly impressive!
Omg yess Mark you’re ranking American Dad! I left a comment on your Regular Show ranking, hoping you would! Can’t wait to sit down after work, eat dinner, and watch this entire video!
One of my favorite things in the series is showing Stan's childhood and how it made him the man he is. A lot like King of the Hill, they started the characterization early, but developed it a lot more later on. It's both tragic and hilarious.
King of the Hill, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Boondocks need to be a part of this “every episode” series you have man Edit: DO FUTURAMA FOR THE PEOPLE MARK Edit Edit: Beavis and Butthead
Mr. Pibb is called Pibb Xtra now. Those fancy Coke vending machines with all the flavors usually have it. It's pretty much just Coke's version of Dr. Pepper.
It's funny how you dislike Principal Lewis with him being quite liked by many viewers, probably why he has such prominence out of all the secondary characters
I noticed that a lot of the episodes and stuff he doesn't like are heavy on the Americanisms, like principal Lewis. American humor can be really different from those of other countries. Principal Lewis, for example, just isn't funny because he's hurting kids. For us Americans, its beautiful parody. I think its also why for him, American dad peaked while others told him that American Dad never really had a slump.
@@SImrobert2001 It has nothing to do with american humor, it's just that he is so over the top on everything why people even me, a non american, find him funny Mark seems to simply don't like him since he is such a wildcard on an already over the top series
@@hamhelly9115 And from what iv'e seen of other countries, the Americanness is him being over the top. Comedy Shows in other countries aren't so over the top. (at least, not from what I have seen.)
you know the episode of the simpsons where homer becomes a food critic and he starts out nice, gets some success but then starts being extremely snarky all the time? i feel this channel has taken the same path lol ive watched every one of these every episode videos and i think this is the first time i can't finish it because the snide snarkyness is just so grating
I’m pretty sure Seth said he likes voicing American dad more cause of the far less voices and how far removed he is from the writers room and everything, he just gets to go in and have playing Stan and Roger
Despite the clear decline in quality, despite giving up on it by season 18, I still found myself defending it and hoping that the later episodes would be good. I just really love the characters and I'm still invested in them to this day. I want more of them.
As someone who's been waiting for Dan's ranking for a while, I was really happy that not only you shouted him doing that out but that you had him in the vid
For context on why Steve kissed Hailey. Roger was getting back at him for eating his cookie so he burns all Steves childhood and baby photos and tricks him into thinking he’s secretly adopted. This makes Steve go crazy and he kisses Hailey thinking they arent related. Roger then pretends to find his real parents so he dresses him up in a sailor uniform in a blonde wig and takes him to a house with a couple inside. He tells them he’s their son and they are so happy cause their son went missing years ago. While they are hugging Roger jumps out and laughs saying he tricked him. Steve seems upset that he did all that cause of a cookie but he starts laughing with him then they walk away from the couple together laughing
It's still a really weird joke, cause even if they really weren't related Steve and Hayley were still raised as brother and sister. And it kinda says that Steve has always thought about his sister like this even in that episode he was under the assumption they were blood related. Seth's shows really has the younger brother character be a weird perv
“A good episode! …Another pretty good episode! …One of the best finales in awhile! …Must be the worst season yet, it really felt like this season didn’t have any good episodes.” -Mark 75 hours into any one of these binges
I just finished him reviewing Season 14 and was like, oh looks like the show found his feet again and then Mark was like “that shit was bad” and I was like WTF
This video made me realize that if you watch 1 episode of American Dad per day, you'll have 1 episode for every day of the year. And one extra. One for every day on a leap year though.
While there is a general decline with American Dad, there are still great episodes in the newer seasons. I also like that they're going weirder and more surreal. I think the main weakness of the newer seasons is that they're not using their time as well, they're stretching the plots out a bit too much and a lot of times they have rushed endings where the climax is in the last two minutes and they conclude the story in the final 30 seconds when the credits are already rolling.
Yeah, his take on Principal Lewis and Tuttle is definitely where I see the fans having the biggest difference in opinion with him. Although, I definitely agree with him about Billy.
I unironically consider American Dad to be one of the best macfarlane shows, even if he stepped away lmao. It's still the one that consistently makes me laugh or at LEAST smile.
Its definitely impressive that American Dad, while still going on too long, it held up for a lot longer than i expected. I was totally prepared for it to fall off after like 3 seasons.
American dad’s cast is so much wilder than family guy’s that them doing weird and horrible things doesn’t come off as jarring and it allows us to not question things as much
Petition for him to rank every Sesame Street episode just so he has to make a list of over 4500 episodes across over half a century's worth of TV, not even factoring in the various foreign versions. I think that would be the thing that finally breaks him.
Aw come on Principal Lewis is great when he gets going. Officer please, I'm a teacher, a molder of minds and SHOULDER CHECK! Brotha's in the front seat this time
I spent like the last week staying up until 3am every night marathoning every ranking video from Simpsons to this one. Made me really appreciate the work that goes into these a lot more but has also rendered my sleep scheduele ruined and me sleep deprived. Totally worth it 👍
It's so weird that, for most of America Dad's run (haven't finished the video yet), the series never really went down in quality, which is super strange considering how most adult animated series ended up getting worse as time went on.
I have adored B-12 since the first time I’d heard it, BUT i hadn’t realized that it’s literally 3 roll calls and that’s the song. That is some good sh*t
Not knowing this video was coming out I watched the every episode of family guy video the previous few days and can I just say the editing and presentation of this channel has improved so much since then! Not that before it was bad in any way I just appreciate the effort of improving the quality of these videos.
i finally finished all 5 hours in 5 days and i just gotta say… i will watch american dad until the day it ends idc how bad it gets these are my comfort characters
Mark has some WHACK opinions in this video for sure! American Dad in my opinion has remained a very well written and hilarious show with characters that people love! AD will always be my comfort show too ❤
oh 100%. Family Guy is a show that I enjoy watching with Friends and laughing at Peter's goofy antics; the satire is near non-existent compared to the absurdism of the humor. but American Dad is a show that genuinely makes me think; the satire is true and directed toward real items. the jokes come not from the idea of absurdity, but the truth being truly absurd
@@nxtvim2521 Yes indeed and I also like how creative American Dad gets with some plot lines in the later seasons, truly going to some absurd places and I am all for it! Personally I also liked more the cast of American Dad compared to Family Guy, I think Family Guy has some very funny moments and even though the cut away jokes are sometimes "cheap" they can be very well done and funny but American Dad story telling is more coherent and makes you connect with the family and the cast way more. But again nothing against Family Guy, Family Guy is also very enjoyable. I think for me when it comes to adult American cartoons it goes: South Park than American Dad and then Family Guy and others.
@@Official_RetroManiawill if were talking about the modren family guy then yes Amercian dad is much better, but if it's the old family guy then no family guy is better
I feel a lot of the episodes you hated in the later half were due to marathoning the show (which is totally fair). I put it on just in the background most often and a lot of the side plots you said were boring or didn't go anywhere were hilarious to me because of how ridiculous they are. I can see how they'd be annoying when you're looking for the golden moments while watching like 400 episodes of TV in a small time. It definitely changes your perspective lol. I also think you just weren't a fan of a lot of the later characters that I really didn't mind so much or enjoyed. I can see how not enjoying Lewis will really hurt the later seasons as he's pretty prominent I could really tell when you were calling like every episode boring later on. Like if you're just passingly watching the show it doesn't really matter if the plot itself isn't that interesting as long as the gags are funny and they usually are. In fact I feel like the show really revels in how absurd it gets in the later seasons. I feel it was more about any annoyance of not having much to say about an episode rather than the episode itself being bad. I guess that just kind of comes with having to marathon and describe a million episodes of a show. But you're on crack or holding on to nostalgia if you think Family Guy holds a even remotely close of a candle. Family Guy is the daily newspaper comic (think Family Circus) of these shows. That shit BLOWS and has only recently started to get any better. Despite it having fewer episodes than AD it never fails to feel so very phoned in, in comparison. Either way great video! Thanks for the entertainment and shit
Yknow, I use these videos to fall asleep, and I find videos with so much more positive commentary a lot easier to fall asleep to, and I don't know why.

What are you doing here
Am standing with you bro 😂😊
american dad is 100% the better show. there's definitely a decline IMO but it doesn't get nearly as unbearable as family guy's lows. i hope mark likes it, his opinion will be really interesting as someone who hasn't watched it before
My fiancé and I watch American Dad pretty frequently, and it's the show we leave on most often for background noise, too.
Frrr
Yeah I still watch the show and actually find myself enjoying it even after all this time
I think the reason American dad is more loved is that it never really falls into a lull of creativity. There isn’t a line that they won’t cross
"shit its roger isnt it? its gonna be roger"is one of the funniest scenes in american dad
Or when Roger is at Hidekis party and Gary GoGo is gonna be there and Roger is looking all over for him and then finds him and he's like "Oh fr you're Gary GoGo? I thought it was gonna be me."
@@brandonanderson4128or the episode where Francine has a famous painting of her lady bits and when they’re showing the biography of the painter, Hailey said to Roger “I thought he was going to be you” and Roger is like “funnily enough, so did I…”
Roger is actually one of my favourite characters lol so those self aware digs always made me laugh.
“This-this is you, isn’t it? I’m gonna get down there, and it’s gonna be you.”
“… It’s a strong possibility.”
@brandonanderson4128 omg yes😂😂😂 these replies are making me laugh so hard, now I wanna rewatch the show again😂
It’s not even close.
Chris is 1 dimensional and Meg is mid
It’s funny how half the stuff mark calls forgettable is almost always one of the things the fanbase is obsessed with

Steve’s voice actor getting the best songs consistently and always going ham never fails to kill me.
Well if you didn't know Steve's voice actor is actually a proper musician, he has three full albums including one released in 2010.
Fun fact, the voice actor for Steve also played Malarkey in band of brothers
Im very disappointed Mark didn't talk about the song Steve sung in West to Mexico
@@lordjustinian2913I think both Hailey, Stan and Steve are trained singers
I find that during the first few seasons, Steve sings like an impression of R Kelly. I'm glad they knocked that on the head!

There's so much room for stories when you have characters like that
Stan tries to be a good dad. Unfortunately, his methods border on insane.
@@fosternova4434Yes, like the episode where Stan goes blind and Francine stops working out😂 I love that they ended this story with "wait, I married you with the idea of you working" and he's like "same, and I can't work if I'm blind to forget your ugliness" and they just go back to how it was😂
I like that every now and then when Stan and Francine are sitting together they have a little pose, like his arm around her or something
While Family just has them sitting in stock arms down deadeye poses each time
I feel like Family Guy is a show with normal plots but insane gags, which American Dad has insane plots with normal gags.
Bro thinks he's watching Regular Show
Ironicallly, it’s the opposite with animals.
I'm so glad someone made the joke

“is steve ready to walk to school”
“oh debbie…this is MY breakfast”😭😭
The after school special means so much to me because of how well it portrays anorexia. The way they portray the mental aspect of an e.d. With Zach is well done, for me, my brain definitely felt like it was verbally hurting me to lose weight. Not to mention the reveal of how Stan is super skinny. After fully recovering from my ed, watching this episode hurts, but I love of how well it represents this ever growing issue
this. people don't realize anorexia is a delusion until it's too late
some try to lose weight, some just refuse to eat, and some are too depressed to eat
but most anorexics don't know they have a problem until it is too late.
I'm part of the lucky few, I have a naturally fast metabolism, and starving myself because of anorexia in high school, caused me to drop from 180 lb to 125 in less than a few months
the fact that I'm at least 150 or above now is a saving Grace.
but the day I got rid of anorexia was the day I was able to reach 215 lbs. I'm only about 180 now but I feel a hell of a lot healthier and happier
I'm 6 ft 2, I need that extra weight otherwise I am anorexic.
Its tragically ironic that eating disorders are dillusions, but we also think dillusion=not real AT ALL even though thats not how it feels on the inside. And neither side of a dillusion can grasp what the other sees
It's also based for making fun of fat people
It was so surreal as a kid seeing my dad watch that episode, realizing how much I related to it. The personification always felt so real during my ED, I genuinely felt like it was another person sonetimes. The way they portrayed it was more accurate than most serious ED awareness content I've ever seen
That's cool and all but I'm pretty sure they were just trying to make a funny. I could be wrong though
Finally, Irish Dad is back on TV!

You may not like principal Lewis, but at least he didn’t label season 14 as season 19 during the season recap segment
American Dad is a more interesting show than Family Guy.
I’m glad the public has finally come to this realization.
I absolutely agree, I like both shows but American Dad is definitely more interesting and goes to some crazy places, very unique story writing style.
It's also just funnier ngl
If were talking about the modren family guy then yes i agree
Definitely, personally I got more into it easier than Family Guy
He literally says this at the end of the video lol
My thoughts exactly. I dont think later seasons got a totally fair shot because of burnout lol
It's because there's a massive drop in quality after Fox cancelled it.
Its probably the nature of having to binge this kind of show and take notes for all of it but i swear some of the takes here seem to come from a place of not actually paying enough attention to have got what went on in the episode.
every single one of his rankings is like this and it’s so annoying. like he for some reason forces himself to watch all of these shows in such a quick succession which leads to burnt out and he always starts being a lot more easily tilted in the later halves 😩
the "you wasted my time a little bit." joke in the census episode makes me laugh every single time.
Literally every time😂
The clip starting at 1:16:45 "Behold, a grown man weeping like a-" *chair smash* "Are you crying?" "OF COURSE I'M CRYING, HE HIT ME WITH A CHAIR!"
That whole exchange was one of the first things I ever saw of American Dad in reruns/syndication on cable and it sold me on the show immediately.

As an ADHD'er myself, I grew to love long ass video essays, the longer, the better. It's like a small hyperfocus for every new video
@@rainbowpils3404 I dont wanna be mean but whats it like having ADHD? How do you feel? Im very curious
@@Mohamed-dx5ylDunno it's kinda like you wanna have feedback if that makes sense
Doing something for like an hour trying to get something is very anti ADHD
You sorta go get random hobbies for all of 10 minutes (maybe occasionally do them like a couple times a month)
Also we have bad time perception
For example
This video having new music every minute or two with it being slightly louder at the start allows a lot of alteration. (It's the reason we like UA-cam shorts)
E.g. I like doing stuff with a bit of music in the background even if I'm not paying attention to it or having a video in the background.
We like having mini obsessions
Having like 5 hours of decent background stuff is sooo nice as I don't have to pay attention especially when I actually like American dad
I'm like a jack of all trades who forgets he did those things
Also I can focus on the most stupid stuff for hours but afterwards just feel sick (the energy from my core is just gone then I just act like way way lazy) even though I assume others can focus for hours with that same energy without feeling off (though this is typically cleaning by moving stuff around the house or searching for some old forms or paper as in something I dislike)
I do like using my fingers to undo pens or unscrew screws
(Though I do also have autism so may be both combined on some of these points)
Hope this helped your random desire to find out
The fanbase does love Principal Lewis
hes my favorite character
i know i do, i respect mark’s opinion though, i understand how lewis’ batshit insanity might be too much for some, but it’s the right amount of stupid for me

Do they? He’s one of my least favourites
I would be perfectly fine with a Lewis spinoff lol
So now it’s futurama’s turn.
Its always interesting how common you saying "I wish X character had more to do" turns into "Theyre using X character too much"
i think modern day spongebob suffers from this issue, with bubblebass especially

so when is yours going to release, Dan?
2:36:25 I think we often forget just how monumentally huge Breaking Bad was when it first released.
I've heard stories from prisoners in the US who saved up enough money from their prison jobs during incarceration to buy a tiny transparent television which could only display B/W with Mono audio and then inviting all their prison buddies to their cell to watch the latest episodes when they were coming out. Shit was so big even prisoners were trying to watch it.
the prisoners watching it: "hey, i did that too! he just like me fr."

i literally have watched american dad 15 times through in the past two years. its literally my favorite show😭its so stupid i love it
Imo the show's political themes in the earlier seasons being toned down really helped it's longevity
It’s sort of the opposite of a lot of other series which become more heavyhanded with their politics
One thing I like about american dad is that Stan and francen love eachother with the occasional episode were they fall out as with family guy, they hate eachother with the occasional episode were they like eachother.
ok but that's one of the most tired, drawn out and overplayed tropes for both shows. It's something that only works once. Also who tf is Francen

Tbf, "killing santa" is pretty tame all things considered
Like, thats in the top 5 adult animated series christmas plots
Whats really nice is that Steve having boobs isn't that big of a deal in the show. The true plotline is how he's objectified. Its not "Steve has to explain his boobs to everyone and they think he's weird." That plotline would've been something seen just a decade and a half ago.
@@SImrobert2001 its really fun and gender c:
An Irish man reviewing the most American adult cartoon tv show, alright I’m in
Season 14 you legitimately said most of them were mid, or actually good and then at the end you said the whole season was bad haha, I can't read you sometimes Mark
Honestly, the fact that it has continuity at all that they actually act on makes it less annoying than family guy by several degrees
How? Family Guy has continuity too
What's this? LS Mark following up on his word of doing the American Dad video? LS Mark truly do be the GOAT
I remember reading how a College Professor had his class watch the Jeff loses his hat part, saying it was a really good representation on someone with OCD losing something.
That scene of Jeff and Hailey crying in the shower is both hilarious and kinda sweet. Hailey's just as upset about losing the hat as Jeff is 😢
Stop interrupting the pizza tutorial with American Dad
Ikr I took him 6 season to complete the tutorial
Genuinely I was waiting for this since Simpsons🙏. American Dad was the show I watched during a really bad depressive state so it has cemented itself in my heart. Hearing you not call it a bad family guy clone in the start was so relieving.
this. I was going through grief, trauma, and anxiety/depression.
American Dad genuinely inspired me to neutralize my politics, which very much relieved stress. that I can have a political stance without having to match it.
this show helped me unbrainwash my extreme politics at the time; realizing I was either a Haley or a Stan; when I should be a Steve or a Francine (or even a roger)
basically, look for the truth (Steve), live in ignorance (Francine), or revel in society's weirdness (Roger)
rather than ascribing yourself to weed and liberal politics; or being a pawn of the government and conservative politics.
My favorite episode of American Dad is "Hot Water" with a VERY close second place being "Joint Custody."
American Dad when I'm sober.
Family Guy for when not sober.
That's how I choose what to watch lol
FACTSSSS family guy is for the inebriated lmaoo

Family Guy, or at least post season 7 family guy is genuinely so much better to watch high.

It's funny how you dislike Principal Lewis with him being quite liked by many viewers, probably why he has such prominence out of all the secondary characters
AKA basement creep. AKA midnight lace
@SImrobert2001 how is hurting kids an "American thing" ?
@@SImrobert2001 It has nothing to do with american humor, it's just that he is so over the top on everything why people even me, a non american, find him funny
Mark seems to simply don't like him since he is such a wildcard on an already over the top series
@@hamhelly9115 And from what iv'e seen of other countries, the Americanness is him being over the top. Comedy Shows in other countries aren't so over the top. (at least, not from what I have seen.)
you know the episode of the simpsons where homer becomes a food critic and he starts out nice, gets some success but then starts being extremely snarky all the time? i feel this channel has taken the same path lol
ive watched every one of these every episode videos and i think this is the first time i can't finish it because the snide snarkyness is just so grating

i like his videos but he has -10 charisma because of this

I’m pretty sure Seth said he likes voicing American dad more cause of the far less voices and how far removed he is from the writers room and everything, he just gets to go in and have playing Stan and Roger
Despite the clear decline in quality, despite giving up on it by season 18, I still found myself defending it and hoping that the later episodes would be good. I just really love the characters and I'm still invested in them to this day. I want more of them.
You should watch Gold Top Nuts. One of if not the best of recent seasons and the show
The newest season is rlly funny to me
As someone who's been waiting for Dan's ranking for a while, I was really happy that not only you shouted him doing that out but that you had him in the vid
The weird thing is that him kissing her means he was already attracted to her when he thought they were siblings
It's still a really weird joke, cause even if they really weren't related Steve and Hayley were still raised as brother and sister. And it kinda says that Steve has always thought about his sister like this even in that episode he was under the assumption they were blood related. Seth's shows really has the younger brother character be a weird perv

I kinda feel like AD can pretty much do no wrong. Theyve earned the right to get weirder with it and tell stories differently than before.
How does the newer seasons get weirder and more surreal compared to the earlier seasons?

Yeah, his take on Principal Lewis and Tuttle is definitely where I see the fans having the biggest difference in opinion with him. Although, I definitely agree with him about Billy.
Billy sucks and I’m ok with Tuttle but don’t diss Lewis he’s the most powerful person in the AmDad universe smh

the part where he randomly became a food channel and started making pizza was the best part
Nah it’s definitely not been too long as a Long time fan, even if the newer seasons are more hit or miss it’s still a lot of fun

American dad’s cast is so much wilder than family guy’s that them doing weird and horrible things doesn’t come off as jarring and it allows us to not question things as much

LS Mark is like the only person I know of to hate Principle Lewis
I definitely like more American Dad compared to Family Guy (nothing against Family Guy, I love both shows).
Except for when they make Stan unrealistically tolerate Hallies annoyance
I can see how not enjoying Lewis will really hurt the later seasons as he's pretty prominent
I could really tell when you were calling like every episode boring later on.
I think if Mark was a casual viewer of American Dad he would like it a lot more and might appreciate the later seasons more.
