Mark Agnesi Talks About The New Firebird

- Опубліковано 28 кві 2019
- Mark Agnesi returns to take you on a tour of the brand new Firebird from Gibson's "Original Collection."
The Gibson Firebird rocks a reverse body and headstock design as originally introduced in 1963 and was Gibson's first neck-through-body design.
The traditional 9-ply mahogany/walnut neck through body construction provides rich, warm tonality and incredible sustain. A slim taper neck with a bound, rosewood fingerboard and acrylic trapezoid fingerboard inlays offers fast and effortless playability.
The Firebird Mini Humbuckers (Rhythm and Lead) impart the unique "brighter and tighter" voice for which the Firebird is known.
Available in 2 classic finishes: Tobacco Sunburst and Cherry.

all EQS at noon with a little bit of reverb. We love u Mark!!! Gibson is lucky to have you
im still hearing "hey its mark agnesi in the back room of normans rare guitars..."
All EQs at noon, just a little bit of reverb.
i bet he accidentally said that a few times while making these videos
i bet he said both a few times hahah
Did he quit norms?
@@chadbaker2224 Yep. He now lives in Nashville and works for Gibson.
Bring back the banjo tuners.
BANJO TUNERS!!! \m/ FUCK yeah!!!
YES
and the Alnico V magnet Firebird pickups
I have a 2016 and while I would like the historical authenticity, I LOVE the Steinberger locking tuners. I added an aftermarket Maestro Vibrola and have never had a tuning issue.
Mine got good after about 10 years
Finally playing with sound of instrument a Gibson video, thank you Mark
Mark you're a mad genius! This just might work!
Gibson and Mark Agnesi go together like
Gin and Tonic
Jack and Coke
Page and Plant
Jagger and Richards
Lennon and McCartney....
great to see these demos, Gibson getting back on track to their classic formulas 🔥🔥🔥#MGGA #KGG keep gibson great
Ammonia and chlorine?
Diarrhoea 💩 and vomiting 🤮?
@@silverpairaducks that made me laugh. At my old job wed test for chlorine leaks with ammonia. It would make smoke if it detected a leak.
@@EPstroker it's called mustard gas
@@silverpairaducks never heard it called that.
I love Firebirds & I’d love to buy one, but Gibson, please bring back the classic beveled headstock... It’s just not the same without it!
Those look awesome. I hope they bring back the beveled headstock and banjo tuners eventually
Just want to say this I'll always follow Norman's Rare Guitars because it's awesome, but Mark Agnesi is the man when it comes to anything guitar . I just subscribed to Gibson Guitar and not just because of how great Gibson Guitars are but because Mark Agnesi is one of the best Guitar heads of all time and he is an enormous asset to the Gibson family. Keep rocking man !
He always does a great job explaining guitars.
Cool Mark. good job!
Love the firebird!
Love firebirds, but please bring back the beveled headstock with steinberger or kluson tuners!
Yeah, I was kind off disappointed they didn't. They could have at least gave us the beveled headstock. Both to keep the classic look and to differentiate itself from the 2019 model. Oh well, maybe next year.
Beveled headstock and banjo tuners!!! \m/ FUCK yeah! Go all the way with it Gibson
Authentic Firebird pickups in this '19? Did I hear right?
@@shitfer I'm not sure about that. Mini humbuckers are not original firebird pickups to my knowledge.
what about a non 9 ply fucking neck calling it a through neck?
Mark is what Gibson needed 👍🤘👍🤘🎸
Every Firebird I have owned or played in a store has had an unbelievable mount of lower string fret buzz.
Same here
How many is that? Also a good nut and a set up will fix this.
Was waiting for Mark to bust out some Cream/Clapton lick, or Allen Collins, or Johnny winter licks.....forgot it's not guitar of the day. Haha
This guy needs to be the face of the company. Excellent demos. Also,
Please make a Reverse Firebird version of this guitar :(
Cody McGrew Do you mean a non-reverse, because this is considered to be the reverse version?
It would be great if you would start making them again!
Jeez Mark is going to sell me every damn guitar in the new collection
love this guy
Mark and the bird. YEAH!!!!!
One underated guitairst that never gets mentioned but should when tlaking of firebird is Vic Vergeat of Toad, amazing tone and insane guitarist!
Cool!
Great to see Mark on UA-cam again.....great guy , “ all EQ’s at noon....and just a little bit of reverb .........
Mini-humbuckers are cool.
Did they say 'just do what you did on guitar of the day' lol. At least you got a new leather jacket Mark, does everybody at Gibson wear Levi's and leather jackets now. I'm happy for you mate, all the Gibsons you can play!
Why do reviewers keep telling us that Firebird's use mini humbuckers without explaining the difference?
Turn the background guitar down while he's talking!
Gcow55 - Please Gibson !!!
While they're at it, the lame old cliche shot of switching to an angle shot while the subject is facing a different camera was a terrible distraction back when it was common. It's even worse ten years later. Stop doing it.
@@MrErdner c'est la vie
I'm confused. Are these Mini Humbuckers with "no holes" covers or the traditional Firebird pickups, because those are two different internal constructions. Or are we looking at a whole new Firebird pickup?
none of the above .High DCR ceramic magnets in the coil (like Traditional FB pickups)
60's Firebird pups were around 6K with Alnico mags.
🤘🏼Mark!!!
Nice video's. But why is Mark always looking in the wrong camera when in close up?
Firebirds don't really have "Mini Humbuckers". They are Firebird humbuckers and are made without pole pieces. Vintage ones also had small steel plates on the inside that mini humbuckers didn't have. All this changed the tone.
You forgot Alnico 5 magnets in the vintage versions, and the new ones have ceramic magnets.
Dude it's crazy how you stress on the taper of the pots on all the videos! I prefer the vintage kind of taper where you get clean at 8 - personal taste but it's cool also to have all the flavors too!
Need that firebird t-shirt!
Please do more on the Gibson RD. I bought one for nothing 35 yrs ago.
If firebirds had white/cream binding I’d buy it in an instant but I’m currently hesitant because I’m a huge binding fan
I can dig it. I'd want the TSB finish but appreciate the cherry. Knew a guy who had a '76 in Cardinal red. Nice but he eventually took a belt sander to it.
If he bought that from Mandolin Bros I know it. It was very pepto bismul.... Pete.
Am I weird? Fav guitar ever but never owned one!
I want a 2019 Gibson! Even a bass! Gasp! Did I say that out loud?
It needs the banjo-tuners!
Keep on Rockin Mark, I know your Cleveland but you gotta be pulling for the Bengals to get their first, Claro?
Does Gibson still offer firebirds with full size humbuckers?
So how does this differ from the already introduced 2019 Firebird other than the added addition of the cherry finish??? I'm guess this is simply rebranding the same guitar. That's not meant as a criticism... just trying to make sure I don't miss anything as I have been considering adding a Firebird to the collection.
PDX Guitar Freak I think you’re right that the only difference is the replacement of the cardinal red version with the cherry one now.
Really glad that they didn't put the big heavy banjo tuners on it, those went bad and contributed to headstock breaks.
They should reissue the seventies lp deluxe with the mini hums
They did last year
Gibson is doing a reissue of SG's with the side vibrato and the maestro vibrola. Now it's time we get reissues of Firebird i, iii, and viis. A man can dream anyway
Hey aren’t the pickups Firebird Alnico v’s?
I love that there are no Fender amps in the background
Do a Firebird 1.... and one with the original Banjo Tuners
does this guitar have a wider neck? looks like it.
Hiya Mark!!!
What’s the difference between the 2018 and 2019?
Would love to go to a local dealer and buy one. Except there's a 12 month wait...😔🎸🥺
I've called my local music stores and I have searched online for a new Gibson Firebird and I haven't been able to locate one. I'm not interested in a used Firebird but rather a new one. I was able to purchase several replica versions but ultimately I want a Gibson Firebird Vll.
Gibson discontinued the Firebird last year.
@@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens where did you get that information from? It's true, they haven't been available for over 2 years now but Gibson still keeps it up on the website if discontinued for good, or am I mistaken?
reissue the firebird. Cant find any for a long time now.
we all know Mark's playing smoke on the water in the intro
What about Banjo, and or Steinberger tuners..?
Love it but I miss the banjo tuners.
0:43 … “the only neck through Firebird made by Gibson”: - not anymore.
Epiphone put out a neck through Firebird (resembling the Gibson in this video) in 2020, and I bought it used just now. Score!
I wish they’d bring back the white one
I wished they'd bring back that Vintage Cherry Red for the Firebird, Flying V, and Explorer. I want all three but, not at Murphy, or custom price levels...
I can never remember; is that the reverse or the non-reverse headstock?
Reverse.
The all new Mark Egnesi
Mark... thank you for all the new videos, could be an anomaly on my part but your backing music seems a little loud... just sayin lol
Why aren’t custom shop firebirds made with Alnico pickups like the originals not ceramics which r harsh?
Put banjo tuners! Sounds better!
Do one with P90's in it, and I might be interested.
I wish they'd have done the VII.
Where's the es guitars?
Is he still work on norman?
I predominantly love and stick with fender, but gibson is getting there load together and their marketing is so good now. While fender is starting to lack significantly
It's petty but I can't get behind new tuners, the flat non-carved headstock, and the pickups not being mounted directly into the body.
I thought Firebird pick ups where not the same as the mini humbuckers?
Will electrical tape fit behind the strings and still fit on the truss rod cover?
Can we please get string through locking tuners on a gibson? Like come one why on earth do we still have tuners on a guitar that we need to tie strings on instead of just a string through locking tuner like PRS designs.
Let him play more and talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously!!! Some ppl know this guy and a lot don’t, but he can play, and knows these guitars! Want to see longer vids of hi just taking these new bad boys for a spin n talking
is he "Checco Zalone" playing a firebird? :D
I love Mark and I love Gibson, but where's the 3 level deep Agnesi irony, the face that holds 5 different emotions at the same time, the master of double entendre, that made us love him to begin with. I get that this is a corporate gig, but letting Mark be a little bit Agnesi wouldn't hurt.
Didn’t hear a damn thing with that line 6 playing in the background
Wow, 11 MA vids in one day. Maybe a bit much. Maybe you could spread them out.
Can 11 ply wood be counted as "one piece"??
Exactly my thoughts.
The emperor has new clothes!
SG, LP and Firebird: The Holy Trinity
Why doesnt Gibson ever reissue the Firebird VII or the Firebird I?
They did a few years ago in the Custom range.
@@julosx Yeah but I would like one standard range thats not ridiculously expensive.
Robert Henry I guess it’s not a popular enough guitar to justify doing all those different variants at the US production range price point.
Where are the banjo tuners? 😞
Checco Zalone!
I just want an affordable non-reverse firebird
#makegibsongreatagain
What’s up with the terrible thumbnails, #Gibson? Show the guitar. Love to see mark back.
Exciting to see Gibson doing great things again. Now, please, do a customized ES-175 Joe
Pass Master model. It's high time we got one! ua-cam.com/video/HSeJSWwEyoE/v-deo.html
Mark you are 100% California
He's from Ohio
I wish i had a local dealer :-(
Nice bild quality but wrong approach concept. You can't put Marc Agnesi doing boring descriptions thus guy has talent!! Gibson please consider this.
Had a look around the Gibson website today. I could not find a single model of anything available as a left handed instrument. Disappointing.
"But there are a few different features on this guitar to make it a little bit newer" oooh goody - robot tuners....
Obviously, not a single word on the tuners... It's OK... I got it
You need the Banjo tuners .... otherwise it seems like an imposter. I thought it was odd that with all the attention this year to detail and history on the other guitars that this has Grovers. I mean Grovers work obviously but they don't "Banjo".
Want Firebird t shirt.
Lefties when gibson?
new models please
