They should make the text for the title bigger . Grade bigger . Have the info on the book behind the label. You can’t see that small text when displaying .
I think most collectors want something with a bit more style. Many like to display their best books. The new PSA slabs seem more geared towards hardcore sellers/traders and speculators. For folks that see the books as profit potential.
As a buyer of graded comics (but not one who submits comics for grading), I will never buy a PSA graded comic in the market unless PSA graded comics consistently sell for an amount at or better than CGC. It is the same way I feel about CBCS. Hopefully PSA’s label changes because it is unattractive.
Not a fan of the mock PSA slab design. Especially with CBCS’s nice new label/slabs and CGC’s well known slabs. Only thing that could help is if their pricing is substantially less than CGC/CBCS. On that note more options is not a bad thing for the community I would think.
Another way PSA could shake up the vintage market would be to weight the front cover more than the back cover for the final grade.
Man, if these slabs are heavier, my short boxes of slabs are getting to the point I'm going to get a hernia trying to find a comic and moving boxes around. I'm too old for this ish! 😭
I bet PSA grades will = CGC grades overall in the comic community because of how long PSA has been in the grading game period. Especially if their first few months of big keys come out matching tick-for-tick on big keys from CGC with same grades.
I think this will likely go the same way it went when CGC got into card grading.
Things are established. Really hard to change the order of things.
Love the frosted border, but the label is a big nope for me. Maybe switching the PSA sticker and the credits would help. Comics are visual first and foremost. Alas, I'm happy to see them rattle the hobby/market a little and look forward to seeing what happens.

The frosted border is a no go for being able to clearly see the spine.
What if customers had a choice about what kind of plastic was used to encapsulate their books ? A heavy premium case for an important/ expensive book. And maybe less (regular) plastic for run of the mill books ? If customers want to pay for premium let them pay extra for it. 👍

PSA should hire a comic book insider to design the labels. The Kuberts ? J. Byrne ? Howard Chaykin ?
I think CGC is shaking in their boots. With all the controversy and scandal in the trust in CGC is shaky. Secondly PSA has machine learning….and if they implement that into comics grading, it may be the end for CGC…Unless they adapt.
As the industry giant, CGC is certainly not shaking. It won’t matter what PSA does that might be different than CGC if their graded books don’t sell for at least what CGC books sell for. Until that happens, they will never come close to overtaking CGC. It is the same reason why CBCS is such a distant second in the grading market. It should be CBCS who is shaking.
That label is so unappealing that it's off-putting. The red border has to go. CBCS has better cases and grades tighter but they still can't catch CGC on the resale side. I can't imagine PSA will fare any better. That said, I hope this lights a fire under CGC to do better.
PSA should do exactly what CGC does except they should eliminate 9.9 grade. 9.8 is king, 10.0 is a ghost.
It's pretty clear for me why a 9.2 is a 9.2, and why 9.4's are 9.4's... etc and yes there is some variety but it's not so much variety where nobody can trust CGC and obvious 9.2's are given 9.8's all over the place.
So... now it's just a matter of time which company will wind-up acquiring the other. We live in a capitalist society. Whichever has or obtains more money in the coming years ( maybe 5-10 ) will buy the other company.
PSA label too plain, no pop there. And actually i don't even think it gives off a simplistic-yet-professional vibe either. Yuck. Although i agree that a sports illustrated slabbed next to a card slabbed would look good.

If PSA stubbornly sticks to their ugly ass label then they'll be worse for it.
It was said the PSA cases are near impossible to crack without showing, I just hope they stress test it with the heat gun method and all that. Would be really stupid to have the same vulnerabilities that we know exist when making something new.
It should go without saying because it should just be the standard, but their slabs should also be UV resistant.

You Guys are going to be PSA fanboys now, I can see it 🤣. Making Videos of how PSA is the new king blah blah blah. Gonna be interesting that’s for sure. As a collector in cards as well…I’m not big on PSA. I think they’re ok…but it’s too easy to get a 10. Ppl do it for the resale value mostly. Wonder if the 9.8s and 9.9s will translate to PSA. And the label is meh….not attractive.
I think ultimately ppl won’t be happy no matter who the company is. Yeah you’ll like it cause it’s new and yada yada yada…but eventually they’ll do something for content lol. Just inevitable.
