- Lavender fields are a beautiful addition to farms, offer diversity in crop cycles, and create a colorful draw for people and pollinators alike. Omg, this is possibly the 10th video I have watched in a row to find out how to properly grow lavender and I needed to know how deep into the soil I should sow the seeds, and not one person has covered this, everyone keeps starting at transplanting plugs or buying already grown plants from stores.
Hi! The reason that our videos cover plugs is because we are a plug supplier. However, if you want to plant your own seeds, you can plant them at approximately 1/8th of an inch deep. They shouldn't be planted too deep, but you also do want a complete top cover of soil so it doesn't get blown off.
@@northcarolinafarms3592 it's all good. I ended up going through with sowing the seeds earlier and I guess I got lucky because I did exactly what you said before I read your reply.
Here in geece this plant grows like a weed so i was pretty sure its a set it and forget it type of plany
Lavender does not usually require too much TLC, but you can't completely ignore it, either. You may want to research specific varieties that are drought tolerant, depending on what area of Greece you live in.

Great Content.Ty for the valuable Information.
is it possible to sell lavender as crop to firms who produce the oil by themself.
If you are asking if companies that produce oil buy from farmers, you would need to call the companies themselves to see if they have their own fields or if they buy in. If you are asking if North Carolina Farms sells to farms that produce the oil, then yes, if an oil producer is growing their own lavendar, then we would still be able to sell to them because they are not the end-user of the lavendar product. Hope that helps clarify!
@@northcarolinafarms3592 yep ty very much !!!
How long until the one inch plugs can be safely planted in the ground?
It depends on how established they were when they arrive. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside. You can find more information about lavender care on our website. I am not sure which variety you have, but you can navigate to all of the varieties we carry through our herb page: ncfarmsinc.com/rooted-plugs/herb
Hi. May I know what is the lavender type in your thumbnail picture?
Hi Jeffery! We're sorry that we can't identify the exact variety from that snippet. We use lots of different images, and we are not positive which lavender is featured in that picture.

Glad you liked it!
Which lavender will best grow in Kashmir
The best way to determine what will grow well in your area is to look at your zone. It looks like Kashmir is somewhere betwen zone 9 and 10 - more likely 10. Most varieties would probably be ok in that area, but you would want to look at the growing information on whatever variety you are looking at to determine if it would do well in Zone 10. Other factors may impact growth such as soil composition, elevation, etc.
What kind of lavender grows best in zone 6
Phenomenal and Hidcote are likely your best as well as Munstead.
