My toxic trait is that I understand Moldara is bad, and a deck around it will be bad, but that will not stop me from making a deck with her, fine tuning the deck, and ultimately play it the entire season with a 45% win rate
I feel like changing spores to be quasi-jades would be interesting, give it "cast wen drawn" but make them start with a 1/2 mana minion and grow from it, maybe even giving Moldara a battlecry to cast one spore so she works like modern-ish Aya
@@frost7842 not possible. Just the fact that you get a random chance to win turn 1 because you can draw 1-7 of them on your first turn makes any "Cast when drawn" impossible.
Spore empress is not as bad as aviana. Getting 3 spores in a row early can be devastating. Warrior is the one class that can possibly do this, as well as druid of course. Seems like a fun legendary, but definitely not the worst of all time.
@ sure, but warrior has armor gain and control tools so that you can live even while spending a bunch of mana on essentially minions with uncertain board impact. Plus, with warrior getting new heights, they do get some acceleration there.
They are pretty average when you play the first one, but once you reach the fourth and are dumping 20/20 in stats turn after turn that the opponent has to deal with, they will overwhelm most decks. You should run Sharp-Eyed Seeker to draw more of them.
This deck would absolutely get rolled in a normal, non-theorycraft meta. It's just *so* slow. Honestly after the PiP theorycraft with Lynessa paladin I've started viewing these pre-release metas with a much larger grain of salt.
Maybe if you could discover a 5 cost minion instead so you have more of a chance to highroll into some of the morr busted 5 drops, and make moldara be able to cast a replicating spore as well
What if the cards were changed to cast when drawn, summon a single random minion of cost equalling your current Mana crystals (up to 10)? Means on the rare case you draw a couple turn 1 it can reasonably be countered more often than not, and the bigger thing is it doesn't eat so much of your mana to get anything from it.
@@TrixyTrixter Look my main point is the "cast when drawn" instead of having to play it. "cast when drawn, summon a minion". Obviously a 5 drop on turn 1 would be too strong, but an extra one drop here and there occasionally has been a thing for ages and in this case is not even guaranteed as it is only possible through natural draw rather than the mulligan. Perhaps you think it is too strong later on, where you're potentially summoning eight drops (though only for a turn). In which case, just cap the value even lower. Cap it at 5 mana. But you didn't suggest that. You just shot it down instantaneously without bothering to even consider how it could be viable. There are many decks that guarantee more busted crap than a couple of 1 drops on turn 1.
Then, since you're only summoning a single minion each time, Moldara could have a battlecry to resummon each minion summoned by the cards, hence the "replicating". It no longer eats up your hand, provides occasional tempo, and there will still be games where it does absolutely bugger all. Edit: The resummon is for the suggested change where it no longer goes up to 10 mana minions.
Ideas: -- 8 mana 7/7, Battlecry: Gives your Replicating Spores Cast When Drawn (higher cost to reduce variance a bit) --6 mana 6/7,, Battlecry: Draw two Replicating Spores -- 6 mana 2/2, Battlecry: Cast two replicating Spores from your hand
Thing is tho it is bad now it looks fun and can relatively easily be balanced to be not bad. Either lower the cost of the spells, make them have taunt, make it a battlecry but the spells played when drawn etc
And a third comment, cause you know; Why not!? Many players say it sucks that they removed the new board of the expansion. Some players were upset about the huge price that Ragnaros skin costs. Side note: This skin does come with a manipulation of the skin-owning-players side of the board and as another side note it was released during the very same expansion that did not get a new board. These were mere observations, I do not want to say the developers had ill intentions (I would much more willingly believe they were forced to implement such trickery by their superiors)
When my warrior opponent coins a totem into another totem I do not bother to kill them, I'll let the (usually greedy) warrior draw his expensive cards and wait until he notices he will overdraw if he doesn't kill his own totems because he can never play all his cards from hand. This works a lot better than it does sound, I promise!
The spores should be discover a 5 drop minion. It being random, at its cost not cast on draw and with a horrible legendary body just makes it soooooo bad.
Marvel snap isn't really my thing so I've not been watching you as regularly, but this video reminded me how good and funny you are as a host. Wishing you all the success in the world!😁 Don't forget to leave your ham out to dry!
Shamans can play it for 1 mana with mermer. And since it removes mermer from the board, apparently it doesn't kill off the Ceaseless. Think rogue will be too busy abusing that discount spell to bother with a 100 mana card.
@guillermocalle2184 well at least it's a non rogue or druid that gets to abuse mechanics at the start of an expansion. It's been that way for a while now
You cant conpare it to duskfallen aviana. That card would have been awful in every meta, this card would have been completely broken before the game derailed.
on the standard of the current set its bad, maybe. but it not comparable to duskfallen aviana. Moldara would have been a strong card 3-4 years ago and downright busted if released even earlier. Duskfallen aviana was always gonna be awful.
From what I've seen. At least in the VERY unrefined environment of the theory craft where you have to dilute your deck (you have to have 10 cards from the new expansion) the card actually seems decent. Being able to flood the board turn after turn is nice. The first turn sucks donkey dick, but after that you're solid. Is it actually the worse card ever printed? Hell no. It isn't actively helping your opponent at least too much. It does dilute your deck, but frankly card draw isn't too much of an issue anymore for warrior. They have quite a few decent-ish card draw options. Will this deck be meta? Probably not. If it is I wouldn't be surprised if it's because it happens to counter some popular deck. I don't think THIS expansion will have that situation come up, but maybe in an expansion or two? Who knows.
When The Great Dark Beyond rotates in, don't the Tourist cards rotate to it? They only add "from the latest set", not from their own set, right? That means you won't be able to speed up Spore Empress Moldara with those Druid spells. Instead, Hamm will give you Druid spaceship and Draenei... When I first looked at Spore Empress Moldara, I thought it looked fun, but now actually seeing it run, I see it is too slow. I think you could improve it by having the spores "rot" or "infect". Eg., "Start of Game: Increase the Cost of (5) minions in your opponent's deck by (1)."
Nah im more glad it's less goofier than the past expansions. I'm tired of the freaking jokes. And it's very evident that it took a more serious turn this time. Despite the among us references
There was definitely no way it could be as bad as Duskfallen Ariana. Ariana is bad in EVERY deck, this is, at worst, about as bad as the C'thun that split into multiple pieces.
Every expansion with warrior feels like they get one good/decent legendary card and the other is pure garbage. It feels like this has been the way for the past 4-5 expansions.
Empress is a dead draw that's worse than Ranathal. 6 mana do nothing. First spore is 5 mana might do nothing spell minion. Hope to draw 2nd spore asap and summon potentially two do nothing 5 drops...gg. Rather play a deck that can kill by turn 9 or eariler. Like that Dreanei warrior deck in game 2.
There is no way this is as bad as duskfall. I hate this way of assessing things where everything is either trash or "Br0k3n". Seems to me that this is a mid level card that you have a to build a slow deck around. In a non theory craft environment it is an interesting deck building challenge, which people forget is one of the points of fun for a card game.
Those spores are meither under- nor overwhelming - they are just whelming I guess! *a German making English jokes - if it wasn't on point, I guess I'm sorry.
I know it's only a creator test thingy but the stuff I've seen from other people playing spore warrior looked pretty legit, control warrior is just so defensive that I think it can work. Edit: Okay, after thinking a bit, I probably have such a good time with control because I'm not very high rank 😅
My toxic trait is that I understand Moldara is bad, and a deck around it will be bad, but that will not stop me from making a deck with her, fine tuning the deck, and ultimately play it the entire season with a 45% win rate
Nothing wrong with having funky pet cards!
idc im crafting her and putting her into my warrior control deck
Me with my control priest lists
45% maybe if you are bronze, If you play this in legend you will have 3%
Or ypu can just wait til they buff it. Because you know they will
If the Moldara herself had a battlecry to cast one (maybe two) of them from your hand, she could be pretty relevant, but not too busted
Change the spells to be either 4 mana, or 5-mana 3/4 spore minions with a battlecry would be super interesting
"Spend the rest of your mana and summon a random X" would make each spell relevant all game.
@@m_ism I like the idea of the spore minions with a battlecry, I'm honestly getting kinda tired of all of the random generation
honestly maybe the card itself could draw you one spore when you play it? its not overpowered and i think it'd just make the deck smoother to play
just having some oger in your deck sucks. it should be a 4 mana 4/5 that draws a spore, like you said, so it curves out too
i think the bigger question is, why play moldara when you can play kiljaeden
Considering other popular Start of Game cards had bad stats (9 mana 7/8 is godawful) but still saw play shows that the effect itself is the issue
Frankly, the card could draw all the spores from your deck and it would still be bad.
At first I was upset this wasn't being officially called Sporrior but I think I understand why now
Spore empress is not as bad as aviana. Getting 3 spores in a row early can be devastating.
Warrior is the one class that can possibly do this, as well as druid of course. Seems like a fun legendary, but definitely not the worst of all time.
Three spores in a row is 15 mana you have to spend, this isn't druid that probably 3 turns to summon 3.
@ sure, but warrior has armor gain and control tools so that you can live even while spending a bunch of mana on essentially minions with uncertain board impact. Plus, with warrior getting new heights, they do get some acceleration there.
The special effects editing emphasizes this deck as true passion project.
They are pretty average when you play the first one, but once you reach the fourth and are dumping 20/20 in stats turn after turn that the opponent has to deal with, they will overwhelm most decks. You should run Sharp-Eyed Seeker to draw more of them.
Not to mention there are some outright hilarious high rolls like the druid 10/10 with rush or Leeroy Jenkins.
@@MrShukaku1991 do you mean the Shaman 10/10 with rush?
I'm going to work 'You're leaving your Hamm out to dry!' into conversation this week.
I think an interesting change to the spores could be the same text but add “Give them a random bonus effect”
This deck would absolutely get rolled in a normal, non-theorycraft meta. It's just *so* slow. Honestly after the PiP theorycraft with Lynessa paladin I've started viewing these pre-release metas with a much larger grain of salt.
I really want to call this the Sporrior deck.

That Rag skin is actually really sick.
So the relaunched starship itself doesn’t go dormant after it dies? It can’t be relaunched again? We have to build another starship?
Its not elon musk starship, just a one use starship
So rarran played into this and got his cheeks taken because first spore was san castle and the 2nd was kangor. And ngl it was fucking hilarious
What we really got to ask ourselves is why we didnt put Oger in instead.
Maybe if you could discover a 5 cost minion instead so you have more of a chance to highroll into some of the morr busted 5 drops, and make moldara be able to cast a replicating spore as well
I know it is decent, it is actually good. The first cast only 1 5-cost-minion, 2nd cast 2 5-cost-mionions, 3rd cast 3-cost-moinions, and continue.
Y'see Regis, leavin' ya Hamm out t'dry always makes it taste betta. *puffs on pipe and adjusts monacle*
