I understand that this isn't Hank's favorite period in his career...and I get it. But in my opinion this his voice...that more traditional style of country is something else... He was VERY good and a young age.

I personally probably would have done the same if not worse, than he did because people treated him like shit if he didn’t sing his daddy’s songs. I like Hank sr but Hank jr knew he needed to do something different and he did it better than anyone expected and to this day from the late seventies I loved his style of music. And I was born in the mid seventies so it’s safe to say he’s been my favorite country music artist for my entire life

Live albums never live up to a true concert experience. Can you imagine what it would have been like seeing Hank Jr in concert in 1969?

I was there watching Hank Jr. & Johnny Cash. Great show.
That was the night I became a country music fan!

@@jndobbie Was that Hank Jr's whole performance on the album? I have heard that he also did Cajun Baby and It's All Over But The Crying. Do you know if this is true?

Hey Tony, I'm pretty sure that the entire performance is not on the record.
I'm am sure that the show lasted more than the 24 minutes that are on the album.
Can't say yes or no about the songs you've asked about. I really wasn't into country at that time.
My friends co. gave him tickets so myself, my brother and 2 friends went to the show.
Johnny Cash was the headliner of the show and big at that time.
I do believe that Jr. did Long Gone Lonesome Blues as well as some other songs that didn't make the album cut.

@@jndobbie Thanks so much! I thought so! It seems like I have heard somewhere that he performed Cajun Baby and It's All Over But The Crying at that show.
I have never been one for fashion or style. If I like something then I don't care if it's the thing to do or not.
The mountain fall not only effected Hank Jr's looks but also his voice. To me, he was a better singer before the fall.

@@tonyharden7159 I too think he was better before the accident. But he also changed his style! His music and song choices changed dramatically. I believe that was intentional because he had the need to get out of his fathers shadow. The need to be recognized as an artist in his own right. Not a singer that could sound like his famous father! My favorite Jr. songs are Standing in the Shadow, 11 Roses & of course All My Rowdy Friends where he mentions, Johnny Cash don't act like he did back in 68! Reminds me of the concert!

Bocephus was crying out for help during these years. Standing in the Shadow was the turn of his career. Later God gave him another chance and is one of the most recognized and influential icon today.

I love Hank Jr's MGM material better than a hog loves slop. It's a shame that he wants to bury it.
