The water flowing through my skimmer does not go to the filter, but rather returns right back to the pool. I added the Phos Free to the skimmer and it all just shot back into the pool through a return just below the skimmer. Hope it's still effective with this set up.
I live in rurally in the midwest cornbelt, and my property is against 300 acres of corn and soybeans, farm dust (I guess full of phosphates) have entered my pool. In one month the ppb has doubled twice and now it's beyond the level SpinTouch can register! (2500+) I just added 4 lbs of Natures Chemistry PhosFloc ( a flocculent, whatever that is) to my skimmers and have my filter on recirculate for a few hours. Tomorrow I'll vac-to-waste, I hope this will knock it down to below 1000ppb. Do you have any experience with this product? Is it better than PhosRemove? No Aglae yet, but help!
It depends really on the amount of phosphates you are removing. But they do get trapped in the filter and it is a good idea to clan them after treatment if the filter PSI rises.
Hi great video as always I have a ? On my poolvergnuegen pool vac I've changed out the port from medium to large running about 16rpm still can't get it to go up on the walls any recommendations I know thers a different video but anything will help
I have same vacuum and mine will go up the walls and climb out if I apply too much suction. I have designated line just for pool vac and I open the valve all the way open and only open all other intake valves 1/2 way so that most of the suction comes in through the vac line.... Amazing vacuum!!
Our skimmers are turned off due to a leak. I need to add NoPhos. Should I add it directly to the pool or can I put the pump in service mode and add it to the pump filter basket?
I accidentally added the nophos directly to the pool and not the skimmer. Should I be worried? Also, does the filter really need to be dismantled and washed? I needed 16oz from my pool thank you
I have a small hot tub 252 gallons from Leslie’s . Phosphates reading is 1124 now. They told me to use pho’s free in my hot tub but why on the back of the bottle they sold Me does it say not for hot tubs???? My hot tub is bromine in case that matters
I have an inground pool 18000 gallons. My phosphate levels are 1189 ppm. I was told I can only add up to 48 ounces at one time. How long until I add more I was told I need to add 120 ounces total.
Cajun adventures It’s cheaper to prevent algae than it is to treat it. And algacides are nasty heavy metal chemicals. Your local pool store will test your sample for phosphates for FREE.
Have you had more success adding it all at once like in the video or the maintenance dose once a week over time? I’m currently adding a few ounces to the pools on my route that have high phosphate levels
I think adding a small amount each week works well. It is not per the instructions but I do that as well. Seems to really help. How are your results with it?
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL I just started adding phos remover last week so I’m eager to see how well it brings it down. My partner and I used more chlorine than usual last summer so we are hoping this cuts that down some
yimmyraw69 I used to have a weekly algae problem until I discover that our city water was high in phosphates. I just add half a capful of PhosFree to skinner weekly and my phosphate level has been ZERO FOR YEARS. No more algae since day one. A 3 liter jug costs $29 and lasts for 12 months
Andrew Leavitt hello I do t have an Alge problem yet but my phosphates are high in my hot tub. I was sold this product but then back says not for hot tubs is it safe to use ? I’m concerned about possibly voiding my Warrantee if I use a product I was told to use if the bottle says not to
@@laurenreynoldsd8079 I’ve never used phosphate remover in my hot tub simply because I’ve never had algae grow in there. I can’t see PhosFree harming the hot tub itself - the worst it could due might be to make the filter cartridge less efficient because it accumulates there

This is still my fave pool channel.

Not used that before but it makes sense. Let me know how well it works.
@@SPL Not great....too tough to vacuum it all, switching back to PhosRemove!
Do you always have to clean the cartridge filters or every 3-6 months. I’ve added this 2 weeks in a row.
It depends really on the amount of phosphates you are removing. But they do get trapped in the filter and it is a good idea to clan them after treatment if the filter PSI rises.
I see that the filter has to run for 48 hours after adding this but how long until my kids can swim after adding this?
Usually right away as long as your chlorine levels are correct. 3-5 ppm
What skimmer basket is that? Shaped like the skim around (which I'm trying to replace) but I know it's not. I like the design but not the product.
It's called the Skim Doctor 2.0 👍

What type of pool surface do you have? The new design gives it less climbing ability - how far up does it go?

Yes, add it directly to the pool.
What happens if you add too much? Will it hurt it?
No. I’m a professional pool tech myself. Just don’t go overboard is all.
Do you do the same thing with Phos Away?
Should be the same process.
Is this the same product as Leslies Perfect weekly?
Almost. Perfect Weekly also has CoverFree to help with evaperation.
I accidentally added the nophos directly to the pool and not the skimmer. Should I be worried? Also, does the filter really need to be dismantled and washed? I needed 16oz from my pool thank you
You should be fine. It works both ways but more effective in the skimmer
When your chlorine tabs disintegrate very quickly, is it usually do to high phosphates?
No, the water temperature and run time, and pump speed are all factors.
Do you need to wash the filters every time you add this product? Even if you're just using a small dose for maintenance?
Negative. Onltyif filter PSI rises and flow is restricted.
Is it necessary to add phosphate remover if you keep your pool reasonably balanced or is it just insurance to prevent algae?
It can work as both. I use a maintenance dose on the pools on my route.
@@SPL Thanks, I will do the same.
How long do I backwash before adding phosphate? How long do I backwash after 48 hours?
1 minute is good to start the process. Would say give it a good 2 minute backwash after only if filter pressure is high.

I would return the product and just drain it and start with fresh water.
If I clean the de filter before adding it , do I add DE as I would normally or do I need to add and run phosfree without DE powder ?
Add DE as normal.
@@SPL 👍
I added a little directly into by pool before I realized it should go in skimmer..is that okay?
You are fine.
After adding the no phosphates is it normal for blue cloud to come into the pool for the first 20-30 seconds?
Yes. The more you add the cloudier the water will be.

how much phos remover for a big pool like 40k gallons?
How much do you charge for a phos removal treatment?
I charge just for the product and filter clean.
Where can i get that tester?
You can purchase it at your local pool wholesale outlet or online. Just google: LaMotte WaterLink Commercial Spin Touch Mobile Lab With Carrying Case
I can steal one from my company....what you willing to pay? Just kidding.
Whats a phosphate
I've got a lot of material on phosphates on my channel regarding phosphates. In the most basic sense phosphates are food for algae.
