- How to setup your CHIRP sonar on a Lowrance Elite 7 Ti fishfinder. These are the basic settings I have learned after many hours on the water with Lowrance products. This will give your unit the best ability to display the most sonar detail.

You will be required to adjust the sensitivity, colorline, and depth range when setup like this as you change depths and structure through the day. You can use all these settings but leave the unit in Auto Sensitivity and Depth Range for decent results over the factory default settings.

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
*On the TI unit you get additional features such as various sonar color palletes,>>>**allabout.wiki/fd12** different waypoint icons, a line indicating course and heading on the chart, etc. There are a lot of little details that are not available on Hook units, but they are not that significant overall.*

just got my today... the touch screen is not very responsible. it's working intermittently. very very annoying and frustrating. i ran the screen calibration and the touch is not working when clicking the square symbol. basically it's not working i would say at all. returning it tomorrow... is there any setting I need to change. but wait I even have issue clicking the accept button on startup...
+GOOD BLESS There is no problem with your unit. If the transducer is not in the water the touchscreen will not function.
What you can do is hold the negative terminal of the battery and that will ground it. What I did was attach a short wire from the negative terminal and then hold the other end.
Don't return it because you've got the best 7" unit on the market today in that price range
Hi, i have the 5Ti and bought now a Simrad totalscanner now for it. Do you know what kind of Scanner i have to set-up in the Manual? And - there's a Totalscanner M/H and L/H. What means M/H, L/H?
Update your software to the latest version and the TotalScan will auto detect. You shouldn't have to make any changes
Love you videos. Curious on hooking up a TI 7 to my xi5 . if i mount the TI 7 at the console and the transducer on the transom , ,what would i need to control the xi5 from there? Is it just a networking cable ? Or the gateway kit?

You'll need the Gateway and NMEA2000 starter kit. You may also need a 25' NMEA2000 extension cable as the starter kit only comes with a 15' I believe. So that'll all depend on how long a cable run you have.

Hi Lawren. Great video! Have a question about screen scroll speed setting. Either I am searching an area at 4-5 mph or slow troll/spot-lock and casting to promising features. What screen scroll speed(s) should I set my TI to?? Seen videos where they suggest that the (hummingbird) sonar scroll speed be set relative to the boat speed. Would appreciate you clearing this up for me. Cheers, Hank
Personally I don't buy into that set according to boat speed. I like to set it according to how fast I want the screen to scroll. And that is usually set to the units default or the next level up. I would never go lower than those settings and extremely rarely go higher. The only time I would recommend going higher is when you are stationary and fishing vertically (ice fishing). In this situation you don't need the detail of the sonar info below because you aren't moving. But this will give you faster screen updates to watch fish reacting to your lure.
The down side to setting it high is that everything gets stretched out and it usually gets really jittery on the screen. The downside to setting it too low is that everything gets compacted and loses its actual shape which makes understanding what you are seeing harder.
The only other time I would go to a higher speed would be fishing 500' plus

How do you tell if you're going over rocks and boulders and harder bottoms ?? Is it yellow orange I'm confused
On the color palette in this video rocks will show as yellow bumps on the bottom. The demo doesn't really do a good job of showing rocks as there is more standing timber in this one than anything.
I have a question with the types of fishing modes what will work best for saltwater fishing in around 2-30m of water ? Cheers
I would try General Use to start with. I think there is one in there called Salt Water that you could try as well.
Does the elite 7 ti have ice mode? Trying to decide between helix 7 si and elite 7 ti, as I want to use the unit for summer and winter. I know I would have to purchase an ice ducker for either model. Thank you
Yes the Elite 7 TI does have an Ice Mode on it. Both would be good choices, but I think I'd go Elite Ti over the Helix due to the touchscreen
Hi Lawren, i am planning to buy a Lowrance unit for deep waters of Mediterranean Sea. I would like to ask about 1 kW transducers compatibility with Elite ti units. I am planning to combine Elite 7 ti or 9ti with a tm185m airmar transducer. Would it be compatible with each other?
Lowrance lists 1kw transducers as compatible but the maximum output of the unit is 500 watts. So to me it wouldn't make sense. You would need the TM185M with the XSonic 9 pin black connector for that unit if you choose to do it.
You are better off looking at a Simrad S5100 Sounder module 000-13260-001 which is 600w - 3kw and add it to a compatible unit.
i have problem with my lowrance elite 7 ti.when i turn it on does not read the depth till i turn it off 3 times then start work and when i put it on standby do it again.whats the problem?

yes i using the shallow water mode and i tryed other mode too and still the same.no just lowrane 7 ti i have on the boat.and i have watch ur video if there and Problems and did all the settings and still the same
+tomui sam If it's happening in manual mode (auto sens and depth range turned off) then you probably have a hardware issue with either the unit or transducer.
hi I have a question i live in sweden on the Baltic Sea and the water mix Salty and fresh the question is when i do the Setup Wizard on lowrance ask if u will primanly use this unit on the lake?so what i answer yes or no!

Does Lowrance elite 5 ti have NMEA2000 port.
God blesses me daily brother! There is not NMEA2000 port on the 5Ti...only on the 7Ti and up
I just got my elite7 ti and am running thru the simulator trying to figure it out. I can't seem to find how to display the downscan image on the screen. Any help will be appreciated. thanks....great videos
+Brenda Heussner Press the Pages hard button. Then select structure. Then in the menu on the top right srcoll down to view and change it from left&right to down. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll suggest something else

Yes it can. I have helped a guy install one but we had to make a custom bracket to allow it to clear the Universal Sonar transducer in his Minn Kota. If you have less than 80lb thrust it won't fit well. Also you require a reg skeg. A motor with a front skeg will cause the transducer to come in contact with the prop
A reg skeg? Not sure what that is? I figured I would have to make a bracket. Its going to go on a Motorguide Xi5. Thanks for the reply.

You just go into your WiFi settings and connect to the Elite Ti's internal WiFi

That looks like your surface clarity and noise rejection is higher than OFF. I would recommend turning those off, then reducing your sensitivity so there is just some light speckling in the background.
is this the Elite-Ti Software Upgrade (v 2.5) that u download from the unit WIRELESS?when i went to about from the unit there no Software Upgrade available!!
Yes the latest one is 2.5 which came up on the Lowrance site a few days ago.
oh ok but the Software Upgrade did not show on my unit what the issue u think?
Do other wireless functions work? If so then maybe its just not pointing to the right directory for the download. Just manually do it this time and see if it happens again next time.

+Bass Monkey Yes I have. You'd want to compare the helix to the Hook models not the Elite Ti units. I'd say the chirp sonar and easier to use menu would give Lowrance the advantage.

Hit the Pages key then go to Settings, then scroll down to the bottom and you'll see Simulator. You can turn it on in there.

+Enriko Mulawarman If you have demo mode on you could lose the settings. Turn off demo mode and simulator or just plug in a transducer, then set the unit up
Hey, I am almost at my wits end with this unit. I am in a hobie kayak I average 4mph when I am moving.
I am not seeing any arcs or any signs of life. What should my ping speed be set at? Anything you can do to help it GREATLY appreciated. I have the transducer mounted in the factory Hobie Lowrance area.

Most of the times shallow (1-5ft) But when i go out out into 20ft waters i don't see anything :(

+KluelessKayaker Most often you won't mark fish in anything less than 18' that will be of any value to you. The shallowest I've ever caught fish that I marked was in 12' and those fish were right below the transducer. As soon as they moved off to the side the were off the screen.
The only things that will effect making fish in shallower water is the surface clarity on anything but off (unless you have the latest software version where Lowrance changes how it works) and low sensitivity.
Next time you are out use a drop shot and lower it right below the transducer and see if the unit marks it. If it does you don't have a problem, there just aren't fish there.

How do you power off the boat, indoors?
+Don Frederick I have a second power cable and use a 12 volt 9ah battery. The same ones used for ice fishing kits. AquaVu sells the cheapest ones I've found in stores.
Can this unit be used for ice fishing?
Yes you can. Here is the part number for the ice kit specific to the Elite Ti units 000-14565-001 that are 7" or under. Here is a part number if you just need the transducer 000-14889-001. These are great units on the ice!
So is there a ram mount option?

You want to set it as high as possible without cluttering the background with noise. Generally it's set around 60-95% depending on depth and cover.
