Dope to see the encoder version put to work! I have an nd72330 and 165 encoder swapped on my mototec, limited by my battery at the moment, but 8kw and it rips wheelies like its nothing 🤘
Do you get more range because of higher voltage ? Let’s say I have a 72v 50ah molicels and you have a 84v 50ah molicels with the same exact controller and pulling the same exact amps 100A controller … who gets more range and why ??
Although power delivery is more efficient at a higher voltage, mechanical power conversion (by motor as it is rated at 72v for optimal efficiency) is less efficient so you'd actually get lower efficiency.
@@DescartesRenegade thanks man I ended up going 84v 65ah instead of 72v … the motor gets less hot and I get to achieve more distance / range … I got 90miles on my pack going 20-30mph and came home at 45% 👌🏿
100% the 138 is better , problem with 165 is it’s really designed for use in Surron as a result is a really narrow motor that would most likely overheat easily when used in a quad . My all time fave motor for a quad is the QS138 90h non geared , with a big back sprocket (60t) for wheelies 🚀🚀🙏 Thanks for the comment and hope you like the vids

Its quite complex and I cant give you a definitive answer without a full lab test. With an identical power level for both bikes and with sprocket sizes adjusted to give the same top speed... In theory the Higher voltage should run cooler and therefore be a bit more efficient as less energy is wasted in heat.... or at least that would be true if you could also choose a lower kV motor for the higher voltage. Power in watts is Voltage x Amps (P=V x i) ...so if you run a higher voltage less Amps are drawn..... higher Amp draw means more heat. There will other variables which will interfere with the above though such as motor design, windings and kV suiting a voltage sweetspot.... as when you go up in voltage you normally choose a motor with a lower kV (RPM's per volt) rather than adjusting speed via sprocket size. With identical kV motor on higher voltage you could end up saturating the motors electromagnetic fields which then requires FOC field weakening which creates a lot of heat... so then you could end up with lower overall efficiency. I think you'd really need to have a lower kV motor to be sure of a higher voltage efficiency increase.
