Excellent video, quite amazing what one competent person can do. This video would have cost a small fortune had the BBC produced this as a programme. Arctic char are quite numerous in some U.K. waters, but you rarely get to see them. Well done.
Love the videos Douglas! Hope you keep at it, because I´m pretty sure that other subscribers look forward to your latest video too. You have a great manner and love the balance between fishing and describing your techniques.
Need to thank you a lot for this video. Char were thought to be extinct in Orkney since the 1950s. I used this method and dialled into them straight away. There's now a fishery up here that we didn't think existed. Thanks again sir!!
That’s amazing, I used to visit Orkney annually with my grandfather for the brown trout fishing. Good to know the char are up there too. I might give them a go if I ever visit again in the future. Thanks for the wonderful feedback.
Great video! Some years ago , myself, a friend of mine and his dad used this method for arctic char. One of the most memorable days fishing I've ever had, we all gave up counting after we'd had 30 odd each, we landed at least 150 fish between us!
Nice video! I was thinking of trying this method in deep tarns and lakes in the Lake District. I was going to try maggot and worm with chopped worm and maggots in the feeder. I was also wondering whether to add a shrimp/krill ground bait to the feeder to help attract the fish. Do you think that could help?
Hi John, thanks for watching, It dose work I’ve tried it myself but using a window feeder with the same rigs, helicopter or sliding feeder. As for the groundbait I usually just stick to a dark/black cereal mix to keep it a bit natural. I don’t think it really matters what groundbait you use as I only use it to plug the window to ensure the bait gets down to the bottom maybe different flavour groundbaits will work better than other but it’s a bit of trial and error to see if one works better. Hope this helps? Douglas👍
Cheers mate, yeah fishing allowed from the kayak, I was on Loch Voil on this video. I caught char at Loch Lubnaig from the kayak using drop shot using zman lures. Loch Awe is somewhere I’ve not tried yet. Some big pike, perch and trout including ferox there.
@@carperblue fishinginthetrossachs.co.uk/ this link is for the store in Callander which covers most permits for the trossachs, rivers and lochs. I don’t think you can buy online but I usually call them, pay over the phone and they email you the permit. For Loch Voil angling active do the permits for there
Hi mate any good venues for around Ayrshire? Just looking to do some feeder fishing for maybe some roach, bream and perch that sort of thing 👍🏻 enjoying your videos 🎣
Hi Josh, either the exception of broom fishery the only other place I’ve fished is Eglington Park, you’ll get perch, roach, Rudd, bream and tench I’ll put a link No for the permit www.splashsportfishingtackle.net/fishing-permits
@joshkuempfel9826 Hi Josh, I can’t say what species there maybe in other lochs mate. If your allowed to fish the feeder then it’s worth trying you never know you might just hit the jackpot. Its one of the great aspects of fishing, is just exploring and giving it a go. I would say that most lochs will have at least perch in them.
Cracking days fishing and brilliant video to showcase it. Were you on the north or south shore in this one? Ive been hearing conflicting advice regarding which bank to fish from
Hi mate, thanks for watching and commenting. I was on the north shore it’s easier for road access and I think south shore maybe under a different permit although not 100% on that.
Quick question please I am disabled but with my sons help can still get out sea fishing now and again, I fish the firth of forth up by Bo'ness but not many sea fishing tackle shops to get good bait from is there a bait supplier that posts to you if so does anyone know of a good one, thanks guys for your time and hope somebody can suggest one, I am learning new rigs and fishing methods from yourself so thanks again.
