Ustad Rais khan briefing about his Mewat Gharana style of Playing & his specific style of sound on sitar continued with a Ghazal “Ghar Laut ke” which he sings & plays on sitar at BBC London
Recording period between 73 -75
I was the last person he spoke with and said " Beta my time has come۔۔ I am leaving۔۔ While I tried to rush him to the hospital he passed away۔۔
Wow. That Paris tune was so bluesy on the sitar. Sitar and blues are a match made in heaven.
Yup....
Wish there was more
APT Name for raising Khans Sitar is the heart of the Sitar

First time I hear blues on a sitar. It's a perfect match indeed.
Ustadji is the embodiment of everything that gives heavenly feeling.
Left this world with great work that would forever live in the hearts of music lovers.
My favourite all time piece.
When 4 Magicians got together and gave us "Hum Hai Maat'e Kucha O Bazaar Ki Tara".
Madan Mohan, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Lata Mangeshkar & Ustad Rais Khan.
Wishful thinking if that Magic will ever be repeated.
Ustad Rais khan a great player of sitar.Excellent sitar player.I mostly listen him songs where musical instruments. It is a greatest institutions himself.
OMG... I was literally smiling out of joy and admiration as soon as he started playing that Parisian tune...one might be mistaken for a guitar....a true legend...
A rare genius. It is highly difficult to get such multi faced great artists like ustad rais khan.Anybody who are having raiskhans recordings are requested to upload it in u tube.
Vah bhai kaya bat hai aise hi post karte rahe jivo
It is really divine music.Pranam Ustad ji.
Nice to see late Ismail Sheikh on Tabla who I played and recorded with many times over the years since he first came to the UK back in the late 60s from East Africa. Also a very nice generous man.
he was a Gem. So less, people can understand these strings. He gave us the secrets of music and peace in Silence and strings. RIP Sir

Touching
Soft spoken, highly refined, talented gentlemen.
That accordion piece is so soothing!

Inhe bhi koi unlike kar sakta hai kya yehi to hai jinki sab copy karte hai or itna sweet haath kisi ka nahi hai sitar mei
Ustad really lived in strings
Even though his gayaki work is incomparable (the absolute greatest), it's interesting to see that Khansaheb's demonstration of bol-kaari work is like the best of the traditional bol-kaari oriented players!! Kya baat.
Bol kaari work is essential to play Gayaki
@@luvdasitar Agreed.

Search for his Ghungroo Tuut Gaye.
One of the best rendition of the Ghazal.
@@sophia3a9
'ghungroo toot gaey' is a 'geet', not a ghazal.

Thank you for the correction
As Iranian i love his way to speak and his kindness. Pakistani seem more calm and relaxed as Iranians. We always need some drama! I wish i would know more about Pakistan and Urdu. Our neighbours...so similar and different at the same time.
Be Mellate azize pakestan dorud mifrestam.
4:26 Blues on sitar! 6:44 beautiful song with sitar & tabla.
