Well, you did a much better job at celebrating on my birthday than I did! We spend a lot of time in Explorations when we cruise HAL. Love Jill's Larimar necklace. Heels are the worst IMO. We were in Jamaica Dec 17th, different port, and they were vry serious about masks, hand sanitizer, and temperature checks. Every store in port required them all.
This might sound blasphemous to seasoned HAL cruisers - but we’ve never actually sat down in the Explorations area. We get coffee, drinks and poke around but don’t spend time there. Yep and the casino seemed busy each night. We try to avoid the smoke there.
Did HAL require a tie or is a sport jacket and collared shirt acceptable?
No requirement on jacket or tie. But most men wear a tie, a few wear a tux.

Theater is small compared to NCL and Royal Caribbean
We also prefer the large classic theatre over this style.

Ya - about 40% capacity. Plus I usually try to avoid filming unsuspecting folks - but it was the most empty of any ship we’ve ever been on.
I'm sorry guys, but they were perhaps the worst towel animals I've seen in 40 cruises! I had no idea what they were.

It depends on the type of cruise experience one wants. Certainly on sea days and during COVID is was a nice option.
No suit for me....on cruises...NCL..
Our real lives/jobs aren't dressup/suit jobs -so for us its nice to dress up and make a nice evening of it.
