Casa De Silva | House Design that Incorporates a Double-Height Courtyard for a Young Family

This house in Thalahena, Malabe is designed for a young family with working parents. The design incorporates a double-height courtyard that brings the outdoors in and connects the various living spaces throughout the house. The open-plan living areas like the dining room, pantry, and TV lounge share a large hall space and visually connect with the courtyard garden.
For privacy, the bedrooms and bathrooms are located in a separate block. The house is designed to be cool and airy with natural ventilation through the courtyard and large openings. The house also uses a double-skin facade with a timber screen to provide privacy and reduce heat gain from the sun.
