  • One of the most horrific war crimes ever carried out in History was what occurred inside of the city of Nanking in the build up to the Second World War in the Pacific. For years before the conflict broke out in Europe, the Japanese tried to captured parts of China and they assaulted the city of Nanking/Nanjing with brutality. It's believed that around 200,000 people were executed and slaughtered in the city.
The Japanese military committed a number of terrible war crimes, in which they targeted women and subjected them to a terrifying ordeal. The Japanese also burned down many buildings and looted, but large scale executions were carried out inside the city of Nanking.

@@rino7789 I think if they were actually a free country, yes. Their people are heavily monitored by their government. If they had our freedoms, yes. But they first have to discover their past and that takes freedom to learn … which is not what they have. So I guess the way things stand in Japan, the answer is probably not.

Even today, the Chinese people know little to nothing about the massacre in Nanking.
With the entry of the Japanese troops, peace returned to Nanjing, which had been torched and looted by the Chinese KMT, and Nanjing's population increased from 200,000 to 250,000 in one month as Nanjing citizens who had fled outside the city returned to Nanjing.
This is the actual footage filmed inside & outside Nanking Castle for about a month from the day after Nanking fell.
There are no bloodstains, corpses, you can see peaceful Chinese people.

I visited the museum and the memorial hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanking, China, in 2017. It was a sorrow and tragedy for several hundreds of thousands of Chinese slaughtered by brutal Japanese troops. The real hero was an American Episcopal priest, John Magee, who managed to smuggle films and pictures that he filmed during the Nanjing Massacre out of Japanese-occupied China. His film and photo evidence showed the truth to the world, which Japan vehemently denied and lied. John Magee contributed to saving thousands of Chinese lives throughout the event.

I do get that the atomic bomb ushered in a new and horrific era in warfare. I'm also glad America got ahold of that technology before Germany or Japan. I'm just unmoved by the numbers. More innocents were killed in Nanking than in both atomic bombs combined, and those in Nanking died far more horrible deaths. The fire-bombing of Tokyo was more deadly than either of the nukes, and far more painful to the innocents. I am completely unimpressed with the sad tale of the poor innocents instantly vaporized by the nukes. Sorry, not sorry.

I read one story years ago so might be remembering the details wrong but during the occupation of China, one was that group of Japanese soldiers had a man tied up to a tree, still alive but they’d cut strips off flesh, fed it to nearby dogs (or maybe theirs). Brutal things happened back in that war and no side was particularly innocent.

Hey Bear. I'm not sure if you're a troll, a parody, you're being humorous, or you're just a gobshite, but I'll try to explain.
England is a country, and our native language is English.
Britain is a political union of the three countries that make up the bulk of the main island in the archipelago, and it dates from the accession of the Scottish King James Stuart to the throne of England following the death of Elizabeth Tudor ( That's a Welsh name BTW).
That's Great Britain, as in all of the main island, and it has nothing to do with how good James thought Britain was ( see also Greater London, Greater Manchester et al).
Both the Tudors and the Stuarts were instrumental in the conquezt and colonisation of Ireland, which is why some in Ireland now consider themselves British.
Nobody speaks British or British English. The English speak English, the Scots speak Scots ( derived like English from Middle English ) and Gaelic, and the Welsh speak Welsh and English.
And the Irish speak Irish and English. Or should we consider it another language in the same way we do Scots?
PS The lad who does these videos hasn't a strong regional accent, but I'd hazard a guess at the Midlands.
That's the modern English Midlands and not the British Midlands of James Stuart, which are now known as the Border Counties.
