Another great video. Puzzled: I see the HX99 says it can record 4K video for only 5 minutes at a time. Doesn't seem like that would be long enough. Surprised you didn't mention that in your videos about it?
I've been doing photography and video for over 30 years and to tell you the truth the HX 99 looks better in every case (exposure) that you thought the opposite. The V looks slightly underexposed compared to the 99 in all those cases. the Sensor size may be an issue later on but I would not necessarily think the V is so great.
I appreciate your side by side comparisons, but it seems you always edit the camera videos onto the wrong side of the screen. You point that the rx100 is on your right, so it would makes sense that you put it's video on the left since we are looking at it from the cameras point of view. It gets confusing. Or at the least, or labels on the images please.
Awesome video dude. Hadn’t come across the HX99 before and to be fair to it, it actually stands up in the side by sides. Obviously the 1” sensor is better but, for the price, it’s a great bang-for-buck camera!!
Nice comparision. I am thinking the hx99 would be a decent daylight supplement camera for a6xxx for when you want to go really light/pocketable. Plus that mega zoom could come in handy too.
Nice comparison as usual. Based on your side-by-side videos, one of the most obvious advantages of the RX100 with its bigger sensor seems to be the ability to isolate the subject from the background more distinctly, and optically (I know camera phones can "fake" this although not always successfully). To some, this may be very important in "telling the story". Also I'm quite surprised by the noticeable difference in color between the two.
People go crazy for background blur but tbh sometimes i think a little bit of clarity in the background can be better than a total blur. Like the pillars of action sign annoys me on the side where its blurry :) Blur has its place but i'm not obsessed by blur :P
Man, I love you. I have seen some of your videos and I have to say: please, keep going! Next month I am going to buy Va model (improved version). Looks and works great. It is funny that you have bought it for 500 bucks, where here, in EU, I need to pay +/- 750 euros.
The RX100 generally looked too dark, you actually made me even happier with my HX99. I'm actually not crazy about shallow depth of field for vlogging, either. That being said, a variable ND filter would have been nice.
@TheEverydayDad, OMG thank you so much, I’ve been wanting a UA-cam Channel for ages and I’ve been trying to work out what gear to use and this has helped me so much deciding which camera to use. Do you have any tips for starting a UA-cam channel? A great video BTW😀👍📷⌚️
The hx99 is a very wonderful camera. I bought it 3 years ago and it serves its purpose, especially for travel and video bloggers. A wonderful camera compared to its price. If you are looking for superior image quality, I recommend the Sony ZV1, but you will lose the long zoom, which I recommend to lovers of travel and nature.
Do you have a video on your lighting set up? If not I would highly enjoy it bc it looks GREAT, especially the lights behind you which bring more interest to the shot in my opinion!
Hey everyday dad can you do a video on the Olympus XZ-2??? Love all the Sony, Canon and Nikon stuff and hope to see some Olympus :) been pretty happy with my TG Tracker from them.
When you are videoing with the HX99, if you zoom, will you hear the camera motor while you're zooming when you play it back? Also, how long can you record with it without it shutting down on its own? Can you record an entire 20 minute set without it shutting down?
Yes, if you zoom very fast you'll hear the motor whine in the audio, I can't answer second question because I haven't record video that longer to test it, but I use the camera in pretty hot climate and haven't had any overheating issue.
3 years late for this, but I'd recommend getting something cheap off ebay that you can practice holding and positioning. It's not all about vlogging and the hx series of cameras was designed for things like wildlife photography because of its crazy zoom (the bigger brothers like the now quite old hx-400 go even further) I was fortunate to pick a hx-50 and a hx-400v for less than £50 each (bid on both and was only bidder somehow) and I started learning so much and balancing various settings and their relationship with each other. I'm still very much an amateur and I've had flagship smartphones for over a decade but if I hadn't bought a proper camera I don't think I'd ever have learnt as much as I have done in the last 18 months. Being able to zoom so much (x50 for the hx400) really pulls you in to nature, and occasionally you'll also hit that lucky shot that looks like a pro took it on a premium camera lol - now being able to repeat such a good shot is I'm guessing where the years of practice come in. I will say, my smartphone shots have improved considerably since grabbing a real camera too. Hope your hobby took off in the last 3 years, but if it didn't and you want to reignite it, get on ebay, do some research and then get back on ebay or check your local ads and get something
The Everyday Dad i have an a7iii looking to eventually get a backup pocket travel shooter (g7 isn’t very pocket friendly but its in the same league as them )
Dad! your videos are soo cool and funny. Thanks for the video, this is one I need it, since I an looking at my point and shoot, but I just want what I need... Thanks amigo!!
FYI The latest version of the RX100V (RX100VA) has the new menu system and therefore no apps... which sucks. I'd rather have apps than the new menu system.
So much obsession over marginalized DSLRs. ;-) Very useful. But for those of us for whom an 'action' cam will be the fundamental camera, Please do a detailed comparison of the GoPro Hero7 black and the Sony FDR-x3000 - which to buy NOW. Thanks
Well after two years I guess he ain’t gonna answer so I guess that’s all I have for this video…No thumbs up no sub no coming back to this channel too amateur
The Sony fdr-x3000 has a 8.5 megapixel 16:9 sensor. So not the same as the hx99. Would be interesting to compare the low light capabilities of the 2 cameras as the x3000 should in theory be slightly better.
The rx100 audio during the indoor studio test was really bad. The hx99 is a very slight upgrade audiowise, but just enough to make me buy it over the rx100
Another great video. Puzzled: I see the HX99 says it can record 4K video for only 5 minutes at a time. Doesn't seem like that would be long enough. Surprised you didn't mention that in your videos about it?
I didn’t mention it because both cameras have the same limitation. But I’ll pin this so everyone can see it. Thanks! 👍
The 5 Min limitation is due to heat and is set to help keep the heat under control
Does either camera have a limit for 1080p recording?
I think they have 30 minutes as a standard limit.
@@dzevadbayraktar322 seeing as I don't live in the EU what is this regulation on 4k recording you're talking about?

Is sony hx99 better than iphone xs max? Is it worth getting?
Awesome video dude. Hadn’t come across the HX99 before and to be fair to it, it actually stands up in the side by sides. Obviously the 1” sensor is better but, for the price, it’s a great bang-for-buck camera!!
Yeah I totally agree 😁👍
Nice comparision. I am thinking the hx99 would be a decent daylight supplement camera for a6xxx for when you want to go really light/pocketable. Plus that mega zoom could come in handy too.
Yeah that would be the best case scenario for it’s use. 😁👍
Thanks! How about the still photo image quality difference?
Nice comparison as usual. Blur has its place but i'm not obsessed by blur :P
I agree, background blur can be good for a macro shot but elsewhere can sometimes make it look like they're standing in front of a greenscreen

My HX99 will be here on Monday \o/
The RX100 generally looked too dark, you actually made me even happier with my HX99. I'm actually not crazy about shallow depth of field for vlogging, either. That being said, a variable ND filter would have been nice.
How is the battery life on the hx99? Does it last long?
@TheEverydayDad, OMG thank you so much, I’ve been wanting a UA-cam Channel for ages and I’ve been trying to work out what gear to use and this has helped me so much deciding which camera to use. Do you have any tips for starting a UA-cam channel? A great video BTW😀👍📷⌚️
Nice! I’m glad it helped out, my biggest suggestion is just get started. Once you start you’ll get more comfortable each time you make a video.
As always
Great video
I'm really enjoying your videos
Thank you for your hard work👌👌
Thanks so much! 😁👍
Thanks for saving me $1200, HX99 it is for me.

gosh, this video so underrated. It was so fun to watch thanks for the video
Wait..
You reached 50k subscribers!!
Congrats!!
Well thanks so much! 😁👍
What a likeable guy! Super cute. Informative video.
Do you have a video on your lighting set up? If not I would highly enjoy it bc it looks GREAT, especially the lights behind you which bring more interest to the shot in my opinion!
I don’t but maybe it’s time to do one 😁👍
The Everyday Dad Definitely! I’m really loving it, and would love to input it into my videos!
I don't need a new camera until May. Should I wait? Will new models come out before than?? Thanks!!
Thank you for this great info. I am an extreme armature, could you please tell me how you did the audio w the HX99 as it doesn't have an audio jack?
Both cameras have nice sounding microphones. Am sure in the wind, they wouldn't be so good, but inside they would both do quite well.
FYI - if you put a screen protector on the Sony screens you can see them perfectly with polarized glasses.
Which one would you suggest if recording video?
Sony HX99. How long 4K videos? 5 minutes or longer?
5 minutes for both cameras, canon has not that limitation
Yeah that's so crazy how similar they are yet there is such a price difference

Witch one would you recommend for a beginer camera? i have mixed feelins of all cameras
I would recommend starting off with a cell phone but the rx100v has awesome image quality.
@@TheEverydayDad i do have a cell phone and its 5 years old... but i will be getting a new one soon. Thanks for the advice!
Absolutely! 😁👍

Confusing... My left right is your left right? This video mirror or on mirror?
Well I’m here in 2021 great video👍🏻👍🏻
Great vid. Would you suggest the HX99, rx 100 iv or lumix g7?
It depends on what you want to do.
Don't forget the HX99 is half the price of either of those
The Everyday Dad i have an a7iii looking to eventually get a backup pocket travel shooter (g7 isn’t very pocket friendly but its in the same league as them )
And i also dont know whether to get the g7 or even sl2
The Everyday Dad so which one to get? My current backup is a canon t3i with 50mm 1.8 and dji osmo plus
If a cage is 'required', please list the best cage recommendation for each model of camera!!!
TED is the SPARK still your favorite drone ??? Thanks
Dad! your videos are soo cool and funny. Thanks for the video, this is one I need it, since I an looking at my point and shoot, but I just want what I need... Thanks amigo!!
Tank you for the Video i will go for Rx
Nice vid mann

On the vlogging side by side comparison, which camera is on the left of my screen and which camera is in the right side of my screen?
Well after two years I guess he ain’t gonna answer so I guess that’s all I have for this video…No thumbs up no sub no coming back to this channel too amateur
Bummed no depth of field 😫 thanks for the review
What are u using to record

What about batter life on hx99 while recording in 4k? Any time limitation on 4k recording like rx100?
Some people claim the HX99 is no better than a cell phone. What's your opinion?
Can you do hx99 vs a5100?
how about zoom quality of hx99 , is it still good quality after zo720mm
Yea; You pointed to the camera that shows the narrow focus (Outside) and call it the H99?
Mixed up.
iam confused...this dude hd a wrong point to which cameras....🤔
Do these crop in k video?
Is it possible to do the depth of field on the rx100 vi just like it shows 5:56 ???
Thanks!
I am a foreigner so I don't know much about the video, let me ask you which filming and recording is good, thank you
4k video only for 5 mins at a time?
I better give up....
Can somebody help me i just bough hero 7 and it turns on but turns off after 3 seconds PLZ HELP
if you're gonna do a side by side test...gotta go full manual my dude!
There's nothing budget about a $400 camera bro. Why not do a HX99 vs X3000 for comparison.
i think i like the sony hx99 color science
The rx100 audio during the indoor studio test was really bad.
The hx99 is a very slight upgrade audiowise, but just enough to make me buy it over the rx100
More expensive is better. It's the truth!
review the sony cyber shot dch fx 80
Sony Hx99 is better
I fast
Super fast 🤣
The Everyday Dad ye
WTF is this. Waynes World?
He is so cute. ☺️
