Deltas main fleet consists of airbus so kinda no choice to pick the planes that are newly added to the fleet, even back then they werent Boeing based. If this was united or American then it might have been a different story, also it would be on the same safety level

It’s not even that, it just works better for Deltas fleet with the fleet commonality and probably got a better deal on the aircraft, also they flew A330’s before so pilots didn’t need to be retrained

Delta consist mostly of airbus and especially with their long haul fleet. Obviously they are going to pick the newly built and delivered aircraft to be one in this special livery, and even if it was Boeing it would still be the same😂
