I had the pleasure of seeing this very production of Guys and Dolls. It was an amazing cast! I just LOVED Faith Prince as Adelaide! She stole every scene she was in! Her squeeky delivery on "A Bushel and a Peck" and "Adelaide's Lament" were spot on!
@@audreyemccann Not quite. His real name is Joseph Lane, and union rules stated that there couldn't be more than one actor in New York with the same name. So he picked Nathan as his stage name, because Nathan Detroit is one of his favorite characters. Still, it's pretty awesome to name yourself after your dream role, get to play that dream role, and get a Tony nomination for it while you're at it.
This was the best production of Guys & Dolls that I've ever seen. The entire cast was great, even Josie de Guzman who was understudying the lead and became a last minute cast addition, when the lead was replaced. Thanks for uploading this video!
Nathan Lane is brillant. Is so underrated in Hollywood, it's a shame. I Love mouse hunt, the birdcage, A Funny Thing happened in the forum, the nance, The front page, The iceman cometh or Angels in America. And rencently is awesome in TV show Penny dreadful : City of angels.
Nathan Lane, Faith Prince, Peter Gallagher JK Simmons and others must have had lots of fun doing the show every night. And can you even believe it has been over 25 years now?
When I was 11 thirteen years ago, I went on a field trip to Anne Bancroft Middle School when they put on a Jr. production of Guys and Dolls. It was my first exposure to the magic of musical theatre. I won't say I enjoyed it because I didn't get the concept and I was distracted by the paintings of great American figures around the auditorium. But now next month, I will be seeing a regional production performing the show's original Broadway splendor.
Faith also played that role in a production of Guys and Dolls the Seattle Rep did in '85, which I saw. Didn't get to see this production (didn't make it to NYC until '00, in fact) but I have had the cast album all these years.
What a fabulous cast! I was 10 and not close to NYC so I was not able to see it. But I wish I could have. Coming back to this after watching the wonderful Zoeys Extraordinary Playlist. I have had the cast album for years.
This channel always feels like I'm coming home. A home/goldmine that is! I saw this cast and the touring company in my homeland San Francisco Bay Area with Lorna Luft and Lewis J. Stadlen as Adelaide and Nathan. Gonna take a moment to acknowledge the late choreographer and Broadway baby, Christopher Chadman as well as his "muse" the dancer Scott Wise, whose career spans "A Chorus Line" in the late 80s to "Allegiance" in 2016 at 15:00.
Yes, for both Nathan and Whoopi, and I will get around to them. Just want to be sure you've noticed that there are a couple of clips from that revival already up on the site.
(1) who knew the good looking adulterer in Sex, Lies, and Videotape could sing!? (2) look closely at Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat and you will catch more than one famous face.

I sure wish somebody had a decent copy of this. Look at that talent! And it's where Nathan got his name from, too.
nathan plays a good nathan
guitaoist I was told that it was his dream roll and he changed his name because he wanted the role so bad. He’s perfect for it.

Best of all time. Influenced my childhood SOOOO MUCH! All stars. All at the top of their game. Just the best and most Broadway show of all time.
Master Cast of this musical. Top shelf.
I love Faith Prince’s Voice-❤️
My high school is doing guys and dolls I'm playing sarah which is a big deal for me because I'm a freshman!!!

I keep thinking he would have been good as Barry in the Prom instead of James Cordon
Fantastic to see these great talents. Guys & Dolls was my second show on Broadway back in 1994, with the new cast. Still, I was in awe!
Lucky you. You got to see Martin Vidnovic .... who had to be a million times better than Peter Gallagher.
Incredible cast!
At the risk of using an overused phrase; whatever happened to Josie de Guzman? She's absolutely sublime!
Amazing. I remember seeing this production on PBS.
One of the classics!! Love it!!

Don’t forget Ernie Sabella!
@@caltounite5814 I almost didn’t recognize him

Don't think I ever knew that Faith had played Adelaide before she did it on Broadway.
Interesting fun fact. No wonder Faith won her Tony for this production

I’m doing the jr version and I reaaaaally hope they add Sue Me (if I get Adelaide). It’s one of my favorites!

I don't even like Guys and Dolls but I love Faith Prince and Nathan Lane together!
Their chemistry in Sue Me is surprisingly hilarious
I think pater Gallagher he is glamorous and triple sexy and he so charming he is like a cat in heat
By any chance, do you have a press reel to the 1996 production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum?
Yes, for both Nathan and Whoopi, and I will get around to them. Just want to be sure you've noticed that there are a couple of clips from that revival already up on the site.
Great, thank you so much!
Does anybody have this in 720p?
