Oh yeah! You can get this thing to have a crazy launch! Rev up the RPM’s and dump the clutch with traction completely off. The trick is that you have to let out the clutch while it’s revving up vs holding it at a certain RPM. Seems to be easier on the clutch doing it that way. Wouldn’t recommend doing that often for longevity reasons. 😅
I bought a GR86 and I feel like it looks a lot better than the BRZ. The duck bill and the better looking front bumper is what sold the GR86 over the BRZ.

GR86 limited wheels are black and I never liked black wheels and the premium is silver with black that I didn’t like also
They are calibrated differently though. The GR86 is slightly more aggressive in its tuning/power curve and has better throttle response while the BRZ is tuned slightly more for comfort
Idk. They both feel the same to me 😂 I’d have to drive them literally back to back. If there truly were a difference, it’s so minimal that the average person couldn’t tell the difference.
@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial you’re right. I think the video I watched on it was wrong (though it was convincing) lol ua-cam.com/video/q7-l_sWYwwc/v-deo.htmlsi=cII_FUg8ECvLLyvA. I bet it will be super reliable for at least 200K miles if you take care of it. The WRX has the same engine except with a turbo on it while the BRZ (Toyota GR86) is naturally aspirated. And you can't go wrong with the manual transmission. And even if you choose the automatic. It's a Toyota built automatic. Solid sports car.
I used to drive two cars regularly when designated driving for a professional DD company. One of these BRZ’s that belonged to a mechanic, and a late 80’s Porsche 911 that…didn’t belong to a mechanic. Both were a blast. The 911 hit 80mph too easily, I wanna say second gear, but the tuned up BRZ had me too scared to see what it would do. They can sound soooo nice it’s unbelievable.
Less affordable to maintain then you think cuz it's a Subaru engine which is more expensive AND with the added unreliability if you picked the 2.4l versions
@@lanceh2009 well it’s no MX-5. But I’ve worked in automotive for 20 years now. Subaru 2.5’s can absolutely have problems. But it’s still a much more affordable option than many alternatives. Wheels, tires, brakes, exhaust, scheduled maintenance for example.
I own a facelifted BRZ first Gen 2020 , love it !! I'll probably change it to a 2nd gen in 2-3 years. Great cars! both this and the GR , just hope they solve the rtv issues.
I have this same exact car same color and everything, one of the most bang for your buck sports cars since its so cheap and fun to drive. Depending on the dealer, it’s actually a bit cheaper than the gr86 in total cost because of the higher markup prices.
I'd love it with a good engine. Subaru's engines and transmissions don't hold up to their own power. I'm not sure which transmission is in this thing, but 3rd gear is too small in the imprezza.
I would. While I would prefer the looks, Toyota branding, and resell value of a GR86, the current markups are ridiculous for one. The few Toyota dealerships in my area even told me I won’t be guaranteed exactly what I order if I try to place one with them and they can only put suggestions since they get whatever Toyota decides to sends them. At Subaru, I can pick exactly the color and trim that I want without any markups and it will arrive pretty quick. My delivery date is this weekend and I can’t wait for my BRZ. I can always change out parts to make it look even better anyways which was my plan down the line even if I ended up going with a GR86 🤷 this is my first Subaru and I can’t wait.
Pretty sure the tunes are different and the suspension is also setup differently and tuned differently as well. But yeh they're the same other than that
I really liked the BRZ more and was top 3 of cars to get next, I was looking for a 2 door coupe with back seats. I unfortunately didn't get it because it didn't have the kind of acceleration I was looking for.
The suspension is a little different between the two. I bought the brz, because I'm a subaru guy. I like sliding around, but the brz makes you work a little harder to get the tail to kick out.
There's supposed to be a difference in the rear differential making the Toyota more tail happy and the Subaru more suited for straight line performance.
@@Nowt117 ok so i checked and it says the gr has a stiffer rear springs opted for drifting and sliding around while the brz has stiffer front springs opted for handling and cornering, this info is from a reddit post thought im too lazy to go more into details, i wrote this just in case anyone was wondering and wanted more info
It’s funny because with the first gen, I massively preferred the way the BRZ looked to the FRS/GT86, but with this new gen that has completely flipped. Love the way the 86 looks but I really don’t like the front end of the BRZ. Hopefully a GR86 will be coming into my life soon!
