Most important thing my eye doctor has ever told me; “at least talk to an optometrist before getting contacts” Part of that is safety, part of that is that the doctor can recommend a site to you. If you don’t have a prescription there’s a lot less regulations (cause blind people will be salty and sue and sighted people will think it was them who screwed up not the company) But please take it from a literal blind person, don’t play around with your eyes. Take it seriously.
So, I do contact lenses for a fest LARP that I go to (Empire) and some humans asked me how I manage to do that in a field that does not have running water in the loos so some people here might want to know, too. So, I have a bag that I bring specifically for my cleanliness supplies; it contains face wash, hand soap, a flannel, moisturiser and a big ol metal bowl. I don't produce much body heat so I have a hot water bottle at night so in the morning I pour a little bit of water into the bowl to wash my face, I then empty the bowl and fill it up again to give my hands a good clean with my soap. Taking a sink bowl with me LARPing has been one of the best decisions of my life. OH THE FEELING OF A FACE COMPLETELY CLEAN OF MAKEUP AND HANDS CLEANED WITH SOAP. One of the best feelings in the world, I heccin love being able to have hands cleaned with soap at LARP, goodbye alcohol hand sanitiser, sometimes I actually want to eat food with my fingers.
I am Canadian! I used to buy Halloween lenses for cosplay with no formal training on how to care for them, properly apply them and properly remove them. This often ended in my contacts drying out in the case, me putting them in 'inside out', and even using my NAILS to take them OUT! I pinched my eye more times then I am comfortable admitting. When I went to my local optometrist to get prescription contacts for my wedding ( Think 10 years of my abusing my eyes ), I was properly training on how to put them in, take them out, clean them, and care for them. CHANGED MY LIFE! I have a much better relationship with my contacts now.
"Eyeballs are different shapes sometimes" *Remembers the bad time I had with contact lenses at the Nightmare Realm* *remembers the weirdass 3d scans of my jnaky eyeballs* ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
I had no idea uniqso had all those options! That's so cool. I don't wear contacts myself anymore but I still have a lot of people ask me about them. Thanks for the awesome video.
Very enlightening. Been wearing contacts off and on for years and this whole video has opened...my eyes ;) har de har har har! But seriously great video keep em coming :)
Extremely helpful video! Thank You!!! I personally have always thought colored contacts are SO COOL!!! This video was full of so many tips I never would have thought of!
As a non-contact-lens wearer, this is super helpful! Thank you! I might actually pluck up the courage to go forward with getting lenses for LARP now (I got a prescription, but stopped at that, because I was too intimidated by not knowing anything beyond care/cleaning of lenses).
Thank you so much for not touching your eyeball on camera in this video. If I ever larp I may just have to always play bespectacled characters. I have a real fear of touching my eyeball. Ughhh
I wish I didn’t have astigmatism eyes….I looked on uniqso and their selection is so small for astigmatism and their powers for each eye smaller….le sigh. Guess I’m stuck with my blue grey eyes.
I dont need corrective lenses so ive tried color lenses but they never work. Theyre always blurry as hell and my eyes are such a light blue and light green that normal color lenses dont work, the color won't show with such a light background. Im sure the painted ones would show up tho. Ive been to eye dr and the lenses they gave me were blurry too... maybe my little eyes just don't like them... idk..
It makes me so sad that I medically can't wear contact lens. They look so cool and beautiful that it makes me feel like my costumes aren't good enough without them sometimes 😣. I wish my eyes where better for the aesthetic lol
its not required for the US, I've bought many, from big reputable places (like 9mm sfx), and have never been asked for any kinda documentation. It can be difficult for many people to get any kind of doctor without bankrupting themselves in the US, so while it's good advice to the privileged who have job insurance, or are on their parents insurance, but there's a sizeable trans, poc, and disabled part of the larp community who might not be able to afford the hundreds of dollars required. If this sounds like you, I'd recommend non-scleral, and soft lenses, and use proper hygiene! clean your hands before doing this.
"I was once a great idiot" is a whole mood and a half oh my goodness

Terminally Extra is my new favorite phrase and definitely describes me in costuming.

I know it’s been a while, are uniqso still your go-to everyday contacts?
Such great advice 💜
How often do you have glitter inside your contacts ?
How have you been happy to get to see a new video
Any tips on how to tell if a seller is reputable?

Hey I was wondering since most contact lenses make it harder to see if you where glasses would it be even harder to see?
