    The BOSS Katana Artist combo amp builds on the success of the Katana 100 combo, with enhanced performance capabilities like MIDI footswitch support and external speaker cabinet outputs. And the tone gurus at BOSS have optimized Katana Artist's amp models specifically for its re-designed cabinet and custom Waza 12" speaker. The result is more sonic dexterity than has ever been heard before in the Katana lineup.

    All the critics here need to do your research. This amp is not a modeling amp, it has different voicings in each channel. They are not designed to sound like so and so. Also, this amp is pure analog. it is a great amp that can cover any type of sound you would need to record, gig, or practice with. And if you have never played one it is super loud. It would kill any gig you had to play easily and probably on the fifty watt setting. Don't knock it till you try it. I run it with a marshall tube amp to utilize the tone studio effects and it is killer!!

      I own the Katana MKII 100 watt 2x12 and it’s prbly the best amp I have ever owned and is way better than modeling amps..it’s got the closest to real tube sound I have ever heard for the money.

    I had a Katana 50 then 100 finaly got this one. It's a HUGE difference. The speaker and cab are amazing, the tones are even better . This amp run ten miles ahead from the standard Katana. Don't even think to use at home at 0.5W, that just kills its tone.

    Got mine from Sweetwater yesterday but had to wait until this A M to set it up. Wow! Wow! Wow! I’m in love. Sounds beautiful and is sooooo responsive to picking. I’m having to relearn my riffs because the amp and speaker are giving me more full range sound and much more power than the excellent Yamaha THR30II(which I’m keeping). Haven’t been able to get past 3/4 volume(combined) @ 50 watts inside my Chevy Express van. It makes my van thump!

    I saw a comment saying the Katana is the best as far as solid state. It is really good for not being a tube amp. I recently purchased the $300 mini Soldano and it’s really good too. This clean sound on the Katana would make it worth the purchase for me. That clean is sweet. I would still use my tube amps for high gain.

    This amp is a beast. I got a Mesa Triple and A/B with the Artist for clean tones. However, the distortion on this sings the responds so well to the player. With a Morley switchbox I have both going at once and you can get the Artist to match up the distortion tone well. It sounds even better though when you carve you own tone with the Artist. Now with the Mesa blend, I’ve got a fat meaty sound that still sounds articulate with Zakk like chirps. This is a great amp for a beginner and a solid creative addition to the pro. It is a very fun amp to play.

    For the $180 i paid for the KATANA 50 i am extremely impressed.

    Putting all those digital effects in there but not having any sort of stereo output seems like a huge mistake.
    I was/am slightly intrigued by the original Katana, but I see zero reason to step up to this model over the original.

    • @StillLivinginthewoods
      @StillLivinginthewoods 6 років тому +2

      Most guitar amps aren't stereo, but most digital modeling amps are.
      The first one seems like a pretty good deal for the price, this one just doesn't seem like much of an improvement compared to the increase in price.
      Most digital modelers are stereo, and if you notice, it is Boss' digital pedals that are in stereo as well.
      Since this is a digital modeling amp, it should be in stereo,... obviously this is my own personal opinion and nothing more.

    • @StillLivinginthewoods
      @StillLivinginthewoods 6 років тому +1

      Personally, I would never mess with stereo in a gigging situation, but I would only use a tube amp in any real band situation any way.
      These types of amps are strictly practice amps in my opinion, for jamming at home, that's when I want stereo, not preforming or recording.
      Yeah, I had a Blackstar HT-5R several years ago when they first came out, and I never really cared for it either, I sold it and bought a Jet City JC22H which I still have and love..

    • @StillLivinginthewoods
      @StillLivinginthewoods 6 років тому +1

      The sound is not quite good enough for performances in my opinion, only practice.
      Digital modeling isn't quite there yet. It continues ot get better and better, but still has a LONG way to go in my opinion. I appreciate the versatility and affordability of digital, but I see it as a practice tool and nothing more. There is a fizziness that comes with digital that just can't be EQed away.
      I would only ever gig or record with a real tube amp.
      I'm sure most of this is due to my age. (40s)
      Personally, I don't think that digital will ever actually take over until all of us who are old enough to remember what real amps sound like are long gone.

    • @Metallion-ol8bc
      @Metallion-ol8bc 6 років тому +3

      Offinthepines. The boss Katana amps are not modeling amps as far as my understanding, but I can be wrong.

    • @Quickjob519
      @Quickjob519 6 років тому +2

      I think it all comes down to what you're expecting vs what you're willing to spend. There are plenty of crap tube amps out there and TBH, with what certain digital/modeling/whatever you would like to call it have been able to accomplish in the last couple years, it kind of makes me second guess when I go to drop 4 digits on that next Bogner head. Boss has actually done a great job of avoiding the normal clipping that you have with this class, not to say it isn't there, but it really requires a push. To just chalk this aside though is to say you haven't really taken the time to mess with it. I would like to see you actually walk in and play one with an open mind, and how you react.

      I really don't see them coming out with an artist head/cabinet, the price of all that would be close to waza. However if they were to come out with an artist head for 500 and a 2x12 for say 400, you would be in for less than a waza so that would sort of make sense. Who knows though?
