@armakebeatz3236 it's when you tweak the gain/volume of each channel so it sounds the best to you. I like to start with every channel at zero volume and find the best volume for the kick and lock it in place and tweak every other instrument to that kick.
it makes the initial impact overall harder, but i find whenever im using the boost knob it’s because i want the 808 itself to sound crazier and almost tear apart the mix
Gatekeeping at its finest lmao , nobody will ever show you the best way to actually making it hit 💀 , i never understood why ppl always have to but fuck it right lol
there’s an easier way to do this by just duplicating your 808 pattern 2 octaves up and making the bottom notes slide notes and making them short and you should get the same result
Anyone saying he replaced his kick definitely has garbage mixes this 808 has way too much bass for a kick. Kicks are kicks Bass is bass This method is genius for adding attack to an existing kick and bass for an 808
Just put a kick under it 😅 double the 808 bass track, Change the instrument into 808 kick and lowcut it nonlinear.. Im pretty sure the Kids have some fancy plugins for that
let me try this. Though I had found a way that has been working nicely for me lately; boost about 3-7%, increase EQ to about 15-30%, Normalize, got to wrench tool and increase the volume multiplier to around 120% In The Mixer Reduce The volume to -2db and dont touch the default volume (always at 80%) on the channel rack. Lastly, boost velocity in the piano roll between 80-92%.
The pitch bend in the beginning is literally the 808 sound. Without it its just boring bass. The pitch bend is to simulate hitting a tom head thats a litter tighter on top and looser on the bottom. All people who program 808 samples from scratch know this. The original 808 was actually a kick drum. These days most producers just put the kick and the bass seperate. But theres something special about recreating the original formula. Beyond usung the pitch envelope you also need to decay a cutoff filter so that you get more harmonics on your attack and more sub on your release. If you want to make a original kind of 808 and dont want to start from scratch you should try fruity kick together with lowlifter. Its a quick stock way to get started

what is this, youre just modulating the pitch, first thing is you gonna make your 808 off key cuz you completely changed the initial key and secondly youll just have a kick instead of 08s
Or use the classic EQ/waveshaper/soft clipper combo 😅 how tf are people having issues with their drums not hitting? Yeah but you just killed the little bass presence you had in the track 💀 if you just wanted the kick to hit harder there’s a ton of ways you could’ve done that without making the rest of your track super thin or having to side chain your 808-kick pattern to a second 808 that’ll actually give your track bass presence.
