    I love corn porridge. When I was a child we used to make it with young corn. Similar method, except you would grate the corn then blend with some water in a blender, and strain, just like making coconut milk. Add the other ingredients and simmer just like you did. Served hot or cold as a pudding. More work but taste real good and silky smooth. That was when corn was in every back yard.

    Hi Badawi ,great to hear your voice. Cormeal porridge/Pap was my mom's before bedtime treat. I sneak some golden raisins instead of sugar. Thanks for great memories.

    Thanks so much for this. When I make porridge the taste of the spices are usually too strong. I appreciate you showing how use a little and get a good taste.

    Thanks for sharing. I usually make my porridge with water, steeping the spices and then add the corn meal. That's how my mom made cornmeal porridge. I usually add milk and sugar when the porridge is in the bowl. You're right about the porridge thickening up, if left for a while. I hate when if forms a thick film over the top.
    I would love to see you make Sago porridge.

    Cornmeal porridge > oatmeal porridge! It was great to hear your voice again 😊 (We made cornmeal porridge a couple days ago.)

  • @27thAve
    @27thAve 2 роки тому +3

    Pump up the cornmeal! Yeah here in the states you could buy Pre-cooked Polenta which is like the savory version of this right on the Supermarket Shelf; you just take it home, put it in a pot and add water to thin it out. So the same idea definitely fits for cornmeal porridge, maybe an mmhmm brand... mmmmhmmmmm. I also imagine that you could puree your favorite fruits and add it to the pot in lieu of sugar too

    • @eatahfood
      @eatahfood  2 роки тому +1

      Hmmm same vibes! Does it come with cheese or without? Ditto on the blended fruits! Keep it natural

    • @27thAve
      @27thAve 2 роки тому

      @@eatahfood they come without cheese because it’s not refrigerated, it’s right on the shelf in a plastic tube next to the regular corn meal. You could just take it out the tube and slice it and fry it or cut them into cubes and boil them in water or milk till soft then mash and stir with a whisk to get it smooth or use an immersion blender, then you can add cheese and anything else.

    One of my favorites after cream of wheat pap, my grand dad loved his cornmeal pap with lomps and he made is a sort of way and leave that cook through, his flour pap was the best even though I never eat it cuz I do not like lumps in my pap, or it makes me piuck up.
    But I,m a pap woman name papous woman

    Porridge can be eaten anytime of the day whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and or inbetween the day; not just for breakfast
    Plus cornmeal and other porridge's, such hominy, oats, cream of wheat, farina, rice, and others can be made ital style without the heaviness in certain ingredients that are high in sugar content and milk (that are not nut milk).
    One love always
    Always take time for self as to de stress and eliminate any stressors therein and get the mind and body balance
