I started out my apprenticeship decking nothing wrong with that my first "lipper" was made on site out of backer bar from the welders . Good video and always remember a tool always works better when you fabricated it yourself.
I made my first Lipper in 1985 out of 1"x3/8" back-up bar. I notched the side and welded a 7/8" low profile hardened nut into the notch. The nut was reassessed into the bar about 3/8" I used a hammer to strike the nut to drive the bar under a sheet that has been welded down to break the weld so we could remove or reposition the sheet. The nut was also cool when I used it to spin the lipper on my finger like a gun slinger.
Love the channel IWbroother the one thing I haven’t seen you with is the box end of wrenches welded together for the nipples of TC bolts when I’m bolting up they save me every time
I got into local #86 in 1979 and by '81 or'82 I got with a decking company (Ripple decking) that kept me working for 5 1/2 years. We just used a big flat tip screw driver or a claw hammer.
Nice bit of fabrication! You could have thrown a couple of pieces of re-bar together and slapped this thing up, but you took the time to produce a nice, finished product. That is great!
Been makin these for years great video now more can make them and I can keep mine. Someone would see mine and would use it and they would ask for one and being a good Ironworker friend I would give it to them. Thanks for the video.
Great video! Excellent job on editing... I like how the video speeds up and then slows down for your commentary... great work!... More importantly... I like your Ducks sign... I worked in Portland for a few months... best time of my life.
Right on cool tool I’ve been a rodbuster for 30yrs second generation father was out of local 378 Oakland Cali me out of local 377 San Francisco pop’s still alive and kicking it 👍🏼
I like your welding table. Not to big but does the job. Nice not having to clamp what your welding all the time. Nice vid. A lil outta focus a few times. Keep up the good work man😃

If you don’t use malleable rebar, it will just snap. Standard rebar is brittle. . That’s why you make it out of hot rolled round bar
