So so true on what u say about patterns. Not an exact science. No two guns with the same choke and same ammo rarely give exact same results. The pattern series, as great as it is, should be viewed as a general reference. Amen Brother! Well said!

This is why I’m such a fan of this series! If you watch enough, you’ll see trends emerge on which ammo and choke brands are more forgiving, and which are more finicky. Invaluable information if your gonna spend bank on aftermarket chokes and custom hand-loads!

And another thing I'm right with you I love people calling me about patterns n I always tell them my setup maybe excalty the same as yours but might b completely different in patterns. but I will get them close to choke sizes to what most tss patterns like n in my experience with tss and all brands our different I know what mine likes in our gauges n glad 2 help people get in the right direction with there test great job stud with that video

Thanks for the info been following with the gun I have and bought a few chokes you did. Haven’t done any tests yet biggest problem is getting shells in CA. Appreciate all you do.

Love watching all the setups really needed with all the different chokes and shells out there the info is helpful because of the misleading info in the industry just because u buy tss doesn’t mean guys can start taking 70 yard shots and killing turkey there’s a lot that goes into a good set up to be confident with to make a ethical kill thanks for doing the grunt work

Wonderful information Jake. Here’s an example last year Moose patterned the 301 20 ga with primos tight wad and small town blends lights out. I shot the same set up with mine and the pattern blowed up wasn’t even close to the same results Moose got. So my take on the whole pattern series. Learn how to test your setups and how to analyze each combo while having a blast watching. 🦃🦃💥

Many of my test with exactly what some one else says they are getting are not the same but seeing the possibilities is a big help of starting somewhere. And normally some one can find what they are happy with. And in 2 videos I think Moose shot the same load in the same gun choke and got different results. I think it was the IC .555 choke

This is exactly right. I had a friend read every one with the 835 said pure gold .670 or Indian Creek .675 with apex shells. Last year he wasn’t happy with federal tss. Told him bring your stuff to the house and shoot some of my chokes. His choice ended up being federal tss 9s and code black turkey .665. He was really happy he didn’t just buy what every one said online

It maybe be painful for you guys but worth it for the newer subs.
Breaking the turkey patterns series down by gauges.
I just kinda thought of it.
    Good idea?
It maybe a horrible idea to you guys.

I don’t have the time to do that, I wish UA-cam allowed us to sort accordingly but it’s not a thing
I’d have to create all new playlists then relocate & delete etc
I was thinking about that the other day but it’s just not something I have time to do at the moment

I couldn't get my hands on a new barrel for my Masia Mara 20 gauge so I'm just going to pattern the 28in barrel. I ordered a meadow creek mount and a jebs .560. I've still got 8 shells of federal TSS #9 so I will see how it does with that combo. I hunt fields and open oaks with stubborn birds so if I can get a decent pattern at 45-55 yards I'd be happy.

Hey on your black momba tube did you have a hard time screwing it in ? The powder coating was on my entire tube. I ended up sanding off the coating ,polishing it and now it slides like butter. I own all the other anaconda tubes they slid like butter but they were not powder coated all the way either.

    • @BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA

Mine was just fine in every one but they said they had issues with the powder coating and they were changing how that’s down going forward
I just had to touch up mine and Hawks for stevens models all other threads were perfectly fine

I did look real quick but didn’t see one. Have any of you ever had a Remington V3? I see that Apex says not to use their heavier 3” rolled crimp shells in a V3. I use a Kicks choke along with Long Beard XR 3” #5’s or #6’s in my V3.
I just noticed that Apex doesn’t even recommend their 2 3/4” shells in a V3.

No sir Hawk almost bought one but we stay clear of them they don’t cycle proper or something seen a bunch of people complain about it

@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA I love mine. Never had an issue with any ammo. I went on Apex’s website to check out their ammo and seen that it said that. It’s by far the softest shooting shotgun I’ve ever had.

The best thing one can do is give a starting point. The ONLY way to find the best pattern for a person's gun is to test. Test ,test, test. Test as many chokes & shells as you can afford. Every gun is different.
