Wow, I never looked at it that way! Thanks for the elaborate comment you took the time for to write down! Hi Els, Yes, everything is still attached. The leather is sturdy and the rubber of the soles is flexible but tough. Thanks for watching! Greetings, Tony
Hi Sarah, I have some new thoughts on the process which I will publish in one of my future videos. Don't think gluing is necessary and it will be difficult without lasting the shoes. If you stitch well, the thread will properly hold the shoe made with this kit together and you don't run the risk of messing up the leather. Have fun making your pair!
That's probably too difficult for me, unfortunately I am not a shoemaking professional... Maybe Nike has some videos online how they are designed and made? Good luck!

Awesome job! I’d like to try this also! By the way, awl is pronounced like “all” not “owl”, for future reference. Your English is excellent though! (I’m an English teacher!). :)
Hi Glendon, Thanks for the compliments on the shoes and my English. I appreciate the feedback and am aware that I pronounce awl incorrectly. Every time when I record the voice over I try to do it well and end up talking about owls again, haha. I'll try to focus during the next leatherworking project. Thanks again!
Hi Timothy, the shoes are holding up great, especially the soles, so I guess if the leather is through, you can stitch a new shoe together using the same soles. And size wise, next time I would go a full size larger. Thanks for watching the video! Tony
Hi Elegance and Co, thanks for watching my video! It is just plain leather on the inside, which is the case with some quality shoes as well, for instance Wolverine 1000 Mile boots (not meaning that my pair is similar in quality, Wolverines are many levels up 😉). Also, the stitches on the inside are covered by the insole, so you'll not notice them. Cheers!
¡Muchos gracias! Puede comprar un kit para hacerlos del diseñador original a través del enlace en la descripción. ¡Diviértete! - Used Google Translate for this 😉
Yeah I thought about that, but it's tricky and I didn't want to risk ruining the leather. The saddle stitch used should be really strong and hold the parts together for a long time fortunately. Actually, at this moment I am editing the video of another pair of sneakers that I made...
@@TonyNeedsHobbies I think what I didnt like was that I could see where the two pieces come together. The sewing kept it together but it would still not be as flush as if it was glued.
Ah I do understand, thanks for the suggestion! With this pair I followed the instructions of the kit. But for the next pair I improved some things in the process... Greetings!
No, it's not in the kit's design to add padding. Would make it a bit more comfortable maybe, but these shoes are fine to wear - no painful feet (except for the heel loop, which I removed because they were causing blisters, see the other shoemaking video). Thanks for commenting on the video. It's appreciated!
My husbands shoe size is 20 US. I can't even find a place that will custom make a pair of size 20 shoes. And he is not comfortable discussing the situation with anyone. He is literally crippling himself forcing his feet in to small of shoe which is giving him ingrown toe nails. I seriously don't know what to do for him the kit doesn't come in his size.
Basically, because the instructions in the kit said to do it like this. It would make for a higher quality shoe, but it's hard to have one needle in the toe box, and I can imagine it's even harder to have two in there. But like I said, I didn't think too much about it and just followed the kit's instructions 😋
The glue won't make your stitches any stronger. If you want to see good restorations of boots and shoes check out Trenton and Heath. They put up videos and talk about shoe care.
That is interesting. I'm preparing a new pair and want to make some improvements. You're telling me that trying to glue the sole to the upper isn't worth it since it doesn't improve the strength. Do I understand that correctly? Gluing without spilling and ruining the leather will be a hastle since this process doesn't utilize lasts - so it would be benificial if it doesn't add any benefit, then I can just forget about it. Also many thanks for pointing me tp Trenton and Heath - I will check them out! Cheers!
@@TonyNeedsHobbies for this kit not really. If you were doing traditional shoe making with a last and everything glue is needed for certain parts of the process, but the type of stitch they have you doing which is a modified version of a Saddler's stitch, is pretty much one of the strongest stiches you can use. The benefit of the glue on this kit would he like an extra set of hands, it would hold the leather in place along the stitch line, but you'd have to make sure you lined up all the holes properly before hand. The kits were thought up so you wouldn't need glue seeing as they give you marks to line up your stitches. You did a great job with the shoes BTW they look cool No problem.
what is the point if you can't mould your own soles? I would decide to make my own shoes for that reason, to make perfect fit, and the key is the shape of the sole..... Otherwise it is only 'glueing' and stitching exercise.
They fit well, but are on the small side, wide enough to fit my wide feet. For the next SneakerKit video I made, I ordered a bigger size which fits much better. Thanks for watching!
I am quite confused!!! I get the impression that you are pleased with the result of your endeavour and yet you refer to the first shoe as "a bad boy". What have I missed? and which part of the exercise are you not content with?
Hi Jimbo, thanks for commenting. I am definitely happy with the result. It was a lot of fun to be able to build a functioning pair of shoes in an easy way and I enjoy the looks of them. "Bad boys" was just an expression, but I'm not a native English speaker, so I might have used the term incorrectly. Anyway... I hope you enjoyed the watching the video 🙂 Cheers, Tony!
Hi Drake! For the heel counter, that's very much true. In my other sneaker making video, I fixed that by making an integrated loop/heel counter part (and in this pair, I ended up cutting the loop off). Thanks for your sharp view - all advice is welcome 🙂
Haha, you don't. I use an awl for marking where to punch/cut. My pronunciation is probably incorrect - I'm not a native English speaker. Sorry for that. Thank you for watching my video!
Nope, forgot to take a shot with the shoes on... But I am preparing another video in which I make another pair which has black soles and fix all the mistakes that I made making this pair. Will put shots with them on in that one. Thanks for watching!
Interesting! But the design of this shoes is basic at most. Without a proper insole (best case thick leather, worse fibre board) walking on the cup sole itself (even with a foam insole) will become uncomfortable fast.

As a gardener I do earn money cutting grass, but it's so hot here that I have to take a helper with me because I'm too old to cut grass by myself.
In Honduras nobody likes canned food.
The chemist put the beans and juices into ziplock type of bags. They are sealed. One has to cut them open.
LOL!
The chemist told me that he uses NASA Technology and that the astronauts could take his products to the moon.

Years later his oldest sister introduced me to my girlfriend. I have 2 kids with my girlfriend.

Have you read Tolstoy's 2 stories about shoemakers?
One is called Martin The Shoemaker.
The videos are on UA-cam.
They are excellent short stories & adapted for kids.
Keep being a leader, Tony.
Thank you.
Also my poor internet friends in Africa, Vietnam, Honduras, etc can get rich. I'll eventually just send them a shoemaking kit.
Wow, I never looked at it that way! Thanks for the elaborate comment you took the time for to write down! I think I will have to just keep doing what I do then 🙂 I never read Tolstoy - I'm not so much of a reader - but if your comment is in his line of though it sure sounds interesting to look into it.
Thanks again!
Tony
Hi I'm Rumman from Bangladesh your new subscriber. Plz guide me how I can get it in BD?
Hi Rumman, thanks for subscribing. It is appreciated! I think you can just order a kit through their website, see the description of the video.
Thank you for the video, good job! :) Are the shoes still in one piece? I was scared the top would rip out of the sole..
Hi Els,
Yes, everything is still attached. The leather is sturdy and the rubber of the soles is flexible but tough. Thanks for watching!
Greetings,
Tony
@@TonyNeedsHobbies
That is great, thank you! ;)
They look super expensive. I am about to make my first pair and I was thinking about putting glue too. I'm afraid of getting it on the leather.
@@TonyNeedsHobbies hi tony
I love nike air jordan so much but its very expensive so can you make a video about how to make it plsss
That's probably too difficult for me, unfortunately I am not a shoemaking professional... Maybe Nike has some videos online how they are designed and made? Good luck!
@@TonyNeedsHobbies ok no problem and thnx 🌝😊
inspired to make my own as well!

Good morning everyone. please how can I get wooden last shoes design to buy ?
Thanks Okoro, Thanks for watching. Unfortunately I cannot help you with that. Maybe you can test your luck at second hand websitesike Craigslist, eBay or maybe even Amazon?
Cheers!
How are your shoes holding up so far? I'm trying to figure out how to make repairable sneakers since I need a new pair every four months.
Hi Timothy, the shoes are holding up great, especially the soles, so I guess if the leather is through, you can stitch a new shoe together using the same soles. And size wise, next time I would go a full size larger. Thanks for watching the video! Tony
Those are very nice, but what about the inside of the shoe??? Lol
Cheers!
Great video! God bless
Thank you very much!
Cordial saludo. Dónde puedo comprar una par de zapatos como ésos? Gracias
¡Muchos gracias! Puede comprar un kit para hacerlos del diseñador original a través del enlace en la descripción. ¡Diviértete! - Used Google Translate for this 😉
I personally would have glued and then sewn it all together.
Greetings!
I think I wore these same shoes the last time I went bowling.
The same identical ones? That's amazing! I guess my pair is too sticky to go bowling with...
@@TonyNeedsHobbies I was just joking. I actually like the shoes you made.
I figured that. But when I looked up bowling shoes, I did notice some resemblance, haha. Thanks for watching the video! Cheers!

No inner padding?
No, it's not in the kit's design to add padding. Would make it a bit more comfortable maybe, but these shoes are fine to wear - no painful feet (except for the heel loop, which I removed because they were causing blisters, see the other shoemaking video). Thanks for commenting on the video. It's appreciated!

Thank you!
My husbands shoe size is 20 US. I can't even find a place that will custom make a pair of size 20 shoes. And he is not comfortable discussing the situation with anyone. He is literally crippling himself forcing his feet in to small of shoe which is giving him ingrown toe nails. I seriously don't know what to do for him the kit doesn't come in his size.
why not use a saddle stitch?
Basically, because the instructions in the kit said to do it like this. It would make for a higher quality shoe, but it's hard to have one needle in the toe box, and I can imagine it's even harder to have two in there. But like I said, I didn't think too much about it and just followed the kit's instructions 😋
Nice video tony.
Maybe for the next video you want to make a shoes from scratch?
That would be awesome, however I don't think I have the skills to do so yet. Thanks for watching the video! Cheers, Tony
You did a great job with the shoes BTW they look cool
No problem.
Thanks again for the great advice. Now I don't have to risk ruining the leather for my second pair!

what is the point if you can't mould your own soles? I would decide to make my own shoes for that reason, to make perfect fit, and the key is the shape of the sole..... Otherwise it is only 'glueing' and stitching exercise.
i wonder HOW THEY FIT
They fit well, but are on the small side, wide enough to fit my wide feet. For the next SneakerKit video I made, I ordered a bigger size which fits much better. Thanks for watching!
I want to repair my shoes.
where r u from tony?
i need a reference to convert the measures hahaha
Hi Rodrigo, I'm from the Netherlands. Most measurements are in metric by I often add US/imperial conversions in the video.
Greetings,
Tony
No heel counter? No lining...that might be uncomfortable
Hi Drake! For the heel counter, that's very much true. In my other sneaker making video, I fixed that by making an integrated loop/heel counter part (and in this pair, I ended up cutting the loop off). Thanks for your sharp view - all advice is welcome 🙂

Why do you need an owl to make shoes?
Haha, you don't. I use an awl for marking where to punch/cut. My pronunciation is probably incorrect - I'm not a native English speaker. Sorry for that. Thank you for watching my video!
I know, just a tease xb
Haha, no worries 😀
B💖👏👏👏
ummm, no on feet?
Nope, forgot to take a shot with the shoes on... But I am preparing another video in which I make another pair which has black soles and fix all the mistakes that I made making this pair. Will put shots with them on in that one. Thanks for watching!
Interesting! But the design of this shoes is basic at most. Without a proper insole (best case thick leather, worse fibre board) walking on the cup sole itself (even with a foam insole) will become uncomfortable fast.
