I have listened to this artist/teacher many times and I have gone back to his analysis once again. I love this piece and have gone back and played it many times with a new understanding of the many musical, emotional layers of this Chopin waltz. We are so lucky that this piece survived and this incredibly talented Polish artist is able to bring it to life for us. After listening to his analysis you realize that while the notes are easy the depth of emotion that Chopin has imbued in this short waltz is a treasure. As this artist tells us- it’s genius. Thank you so much, Greg.
(Repeat of a Comment of a week ago, which has mysteriously 'disappeared'). By watching this video I have caught up and now seen all 122 of your videos! It has been an interesting and rewarding journey and I'm very grateful to you for the effort you have put in over a considerable period. To produce these videos (each of them twice), thinking what you are going to say, speaking fluently in your second language, presenting it to the camera in such a friendly way AND playing the piano all at the same time (not to mention extemporising what Chopin might have written, but didn't) is a massive feat and I congratulate you. And the Ministry too, for commissioning your work. You have done Chopin's work a considerable service - thank you on behalf of all your regular watchers. I shall watch the remainder with equal interest - Op 4 (in due course) for me and.... ahem.... Rondo a Mazur for you!! Niemczuk for the 2025 Jury says I..... ! (Meanwhile, some Jeune Chopin competition performances have just gone up to keep us all interested).
How I love the passion you show in explaining these nuances in our beloved Chopin's music. I totally understand how words are often too poor to explain what this genius's melodies do to one's soul. Sometimes you have to just listen and go 'Wow!" One of my favourite pieces of all time!
Znalazłem Zimmermana, Fialkowską i Lisieckiego - wszystkich znanych interpretatorów Chopina. Dla mnie ten utwór przenosi myślami do Żelazowej Woli...słuchanie fortepianu w domu Chopina pierwsze słoneczny letni poranek 2008 roku...z nią u mego boku.
Serdecznie pozdrawiam z Polski!

You might be able to play it sooner if you have more time to practice but why not enjoy some other pieces as you approach it? I wish you happy playing!
Very interesting video about a piece I love too, thanks. I'm looking forward to watching more of them and I've subscribed. BTW, on a slight tangent, do you think the great motivic genius Beethoven was influenced by the first movement of Mozart's symphony No 40, which uses motivic development?

Hi Greg, could you kindly suggest a Chopin piece to learn after Waltz in A minor (Posthumous), Waltz in B Minor, Op.69, No.2 (Posthumous) and Prelude in E Minor, Op.28, No.4. I am using the book "Chopin - An introduction to his piano works". Really difficult to chose the next piece that is adequate for my level. Really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Hello Sir, I'm a big fan of your piano. Thanks to your video lecture I was able to solve this masterpiece. But while I'm playing it something really bothers me which is that whatever I do, I can't soften my left hand. When I record and listen it again, it sounds very bitter and spiky. Do you have any advice or tips for me to solve this problem. Thank you again for these lecture videos you are a great pianist and a great teacher...
Wow Greg listen! I teach piano for allmost 10 years. Every student that play thos waltz, I allways say to him that this waltz is not good, as I think that it is so bad that maybe Chopin didnt write this. Today, with the spirit of your lectures, I said to a student "you know what, now I am going to change my mind. This is a good waltz, lets analyze it. And we started do analyze, and than after the lesson I went to see your video about it, and WE ANALYZED THE SAME!!!!! Thank you for being my insperation in the last mouth, I am happy that I got a same mind like you, in analyzing that waltz. If you want I can show you things in Schumann and Brahms that are very amazing and genious....but in Chopin you are No.1
Thanks very much Greg. I'm a beginner, just learning this piece. Listening to your enthusiastic and insightful analysis was as enjoyable as listening to the piece itself!
@@gregniemczuk Yes. I'm really enjoying learning this piece (even the trills, which are a bit challenging for me). I'm also learning Grieg's Anitra's Dance, having been inspired by your performance. You looked like you were having a great deal of fun playing it (and Waltz in A Minor).
Dear Julian. Would you prefer to pay for this lecture? All my videos are free for everyone, but I put so much effort to make them (2 years!). My only financial reward is what I get from ads (which is ONLY about 400 USD per month....) ... So please understand why they must be here. I know it's annoying. But try to look at it from another angle. Thanks.

Try to play it with flat fingers, completely flat fingers! That should help!
@@gregniemczuk Thank you so much for your advice🙏
I like the trill at 1:09. It's not in the score but I'm going to play it like that anyway. I don't think Fred would mind 🤗
I think I have it in my score!
Obviously you have studied with Hans Groiner! Bravo!
Actually I don't know the guy...
Can u pls make an analysis of Chopin's waltz in e minor (posth. b 56) its so goood!
I will!

🧐um I don't know that waltz.

thank you for telling❤
Spring Waltz is NOT written by Chopin!!!!!
@@gregniemczuk I got it!🫡thank you for telling me!
I was looking for a video over the Waltz in B minor Op 69, No 2. I could not find one. Did you do a video over that one?
Not yet! But I Will!
If you want I can show you things in Schumann and Brahms that are very amazing and genious....but in Chopin you are No.1
Thank you so much!!! And congratulations!!! 👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much Greg. I'm a beginner, just learning this piece. Listening to your enthusiastic and insightful analysis was as enjoyable as listening to the piece itself!
So happy to hear that! Good luck with this! It's such a joy to be able to play that!
@@whymattwhy I did!!!
Bonjour, une petite fausse note à la minute 1.05 " little mistake.. wrong note) isn't it ?

Thats too much ads on your vids. Not having me welcome
Thanks.
As far as I know people with UA-cam Premium have no ads at all.
21:52 please do a full minor chord version of this piece. this sounded very very interesting.
