I was lucky to see various iterations of Classics 4, Candymen and Atlanta Rhythm Section. Dennis, Dean Daughtery, Robert Nix, Billy Gilmore, Barry Bailey, Ronnie Hammond. Great musicians!
On March 25, 2007 a benefit was set up to help Dennis Yost with rising hospital bills from his fall down a staircase, in a small arena called Rhino's Live in Cincinnati. Many stars of the rock 'n' roll/pop music (Bowser of Sha Na Na was as host and entertainers included Chuck Negron of 3 Dog Night, Mark Volman of the Turtles, Denny Laine of The Moody Blue and Paul McCartney and Wings, Ian Mitchell of the Bay City Rollers, The Robby Campbell Trio, Pat Upton of Spiral Staircase, The Skyliners, Dave Somerville (lead singer of the Diamonds), Carl Dobson, Jr., Troy Shondell and others. A video was taken of the entire concert, but has disappeared and hasn't been seen publicly. It would be wonderful if that concert's video could be found. Since then, Dennis Yost named Tom Garrett to take over lead singer for the band and with a totally new crew they now keep the Classics IV music alive as they tour the U.S. even today.
You have to give them credit for having three singles that were million sellers and massive airplay. I forgot that Santana did a great rendition of Stormy. Thanks for the memories with this one.
Great work here! Thank you!!! We loved this band in the '60s. I took up the Alto Sax in grade school and my Dad hoped tunes from this band would inspire me. They did but after 3 years, i quit. I wanted to play guitar since forever. Did and still do. Rock on!
Love The Classics IV. I had the 45 rpm record “Spooky” in my collection and a couple of friends wanted to trade me 2 of their records for Spooky and I refused to do it. Glad to see that UA-cam is still keeping their music alive. . 🙏❤🎼🎤
What i don't understand is why they call themselves " The Classics IV (4) and show 5 people in the group? After all if everyone is contributing, then someone is left out!!
Classics came from the name of the drumkit and the IV was their tribute to the "Four" Seasons after they were sued because another group was called the Classics.
Can you please make one of these for the band It's a Beautiful Day? I've always wanted to know exactly why that band didn't make it. That would be a sweet video man especially considering David Laflammes recent passing. Take care! 🤘

I love your channel! May I make a suggestion? Get a pop filter for your mic. You're getting clipping and distortion whenever you make a "P" sound. A pop filter will smooth this out. They're very cheap. Look at your local Guitar Center, or online at Sweetwater
I used to live in Decatur GA, and hung out at the Doraville lounge in north Atlanta, they had photos of the Classic IV,and ARS all over the walls in bar, kinda like a hang out for the band
@@CiscoDuck I was thinking Dennis but, then again, it doesn't even look like Dennis, I know these channels throw random photos in there, it was a guess.
@@CiscoDuck Dennis' wife, Linda. There's not much information about his personal life other than he was married to Linda Vecchio who stayed by his side through his whole music career, and they have 5 children.
You really don’t have your facts straight. My father was Bill Gilmore the bass player. He joined the club after he worked in studio one for many years change the base riff so pretty woman. I think you should know your facts before you speak.
The back story from band members who were my classmates at Jackson HIgh in Jacksonville: The guys knew that their sound, craftsmanship, material, etc. was more nostalgic than ground-breaking. They decided to embrace it. The Roman numeral was meant to emphasize the embrace of "classics" and also make prevent disputes with other bands that had "classic" as their name.
Spooky and Stormy are excellent songs, perfect produced and performed. Never get tired of these tunes.
I like Traces, and Every day with you, girl, too
The Classics IV was always on the radio with Traces. That was my favorite.
I have always liked the Classics IV and felt that they were a very underrated group.
Stormy, Traces, Spooky ♥️♥️❤️
@deborahfrasier1221
... with Every day with you, girl rounding out the top classic 4 songs
I saw one or two of the remaining band members perform last week with the "Happy Together" tour, in Beverly Hills.

Great update on a favorite group from my teen years. Sorry to know so many of them have passed away.
Bass player and original leader of the band Wally Eaton is still living in Jacksonville. Original keyboard player Joe Wilson is unaccounted for.

Quit being a crybaby.
Possibly the worst band name in history.
