60 yr old Chelsea fan here & I'd be gutted to see Havertz leave, especially for Arsenal. Havertz has immense ability & the potential to become a truly outstanding player. He's had three seasons at Chelsea, two very good ones & a very poor one. But literally every player had a poor season, not just Havertz. We've seen periods when Havertz showed the sort of football he's capable of & one day might be able to produce on a consistent basis. We saw it when he played a major part in the club's Champions Lge trophy success.
Havertz is also only 23, just to turn 24. How good was Kante at 23/24, was he the player that he later became?
I get so frustrated because it's only an idiot that expects players like Havertz to arrive at the club at 21 & immediately be the finished article. Because Havertz hasn't produced the world class performances that they think they should get from a £73m player who came with a lot of hype, because that hasn't happened these people decide the player is a flop, they think they're overrated.
But take RVP at Arsenal. He had 8 seasons at Arsenal. His first 3 seasons were no better than Havertz's first 3 seasons have been. He scored a very similar amount of goals in those 3 seasons. And yet RVP had a much better 4th & 5th season & in his last 3 seasons he was world class. But RVP couldn't produce at ages 21 - 25 what he could at the ages of 26 onwards. But so many people are too short-sighted to see this, they can't think ahead.
Only Arsenal could have a bid imminent for 3 weeks, journalists and Arsenal fans saying deal done, and then have the bid rejected when its way below asking price. And then City swoop in and get the target.

Nonsense. Havertz had two good seasons in the Premier Lge. It hasn't helped him that he's always being moved around & asked to play in different positions & thereby do different jobs within the team. And Havertz has been 21, 22, & 23 years of age whilst playing in his first three seasons in the Prem. He's still developing & working out how to bring all his talent out so he can produce what he's obviously capable of producing.

Last season there was a time where United were close to signing 34 year old Marco Arnautovic. The immediate uproar from the entire fanbase caused even the Glazers to drop the deal.

As an outsider, I understood the Jorginho move because he has experience and can take control of games and see results out. That move makes sense when you need a player in a pinch and can't find anyone better, but Havertz makes no sense. He doesn't excel at anything on the ball consistently, he isn't good defensively, he plays weak, he plays with no energy, and he can't finish. He does ok off the bench, but you don't spend 60m on a squad player. Also, choosing to prioritize Havertz over Caicedo gives Chelsea good money for a player that gives them next to nothing, and gives Chelsea the clear advantage in the race for Caicedo. That is batshit insane and football malpractice.

I feel sick. I have been trying to distance myself from arsenal for awhile now but this might be the final straw. I deleted all my accounts, stopped buying kits, stopped going to the occasional match in january. Havertz is another attaching player that Chelsea have managed to misuse and make him look so much worse than he is. Look at the last 10 years of Chelsea history. Any young attacking player doesn’t improve with us unless they’re hazard or mata. Havertz would flourish in a more fluid/consistent team. The likes of Pulisic have suffered a similar fate. Chelsea is a bad environment for attacking players in general
