Congrats Ben, Tambi and Molly! You've done it again, splashing yet another boat for future adventures! You should never discount your abilities Ben when it comes to doing a project the correct way. Having that engine crank up on the first turn was proof positive that you Are The Man!
You have done a great job restoring the boat , my utmost respect to you guys !. I cannot fathom( no pun intended), the choice of name, to me its unbecoming to the Westsail heritage and lineage. You must have your reasons ... . Fair winds, and quartering 🌊 seas !.
We provided a thorough explanation of the name in a recent video. If you watch that video, you might find that the name is actually quite meaningful, but I assure you, the heritage of Westsail did not, does not, and will not impact our choice of the name not one iota. It does feel great to finally have her to a point where we can use her, but we still have a load of work to do when we return that should really prepare her longer distance cruising.
She's getting there. Once she gets her new standing rigging, chainplates, and throughulls this Summer, she should be pretty well set for some serious cruising.
Outstanding! The adventures begin soon! Molly I hope you are feeling much better! Tell them you need Ice cream to soothe your throat. Oh and some extra for the delay in getting your medicine!
Ben, I totally understand that moment of elation that comes when, somewhat surprisingly, something as complex as the re-worked fuel system on a diesel powered boat actually works right the first time! Take a bow! You've ALL done well on your refit!
We are so happy for you guys! That feeling when your boat goes in the water and there are no leaks, and then the engine starts up and purrs so beautifully… man that’s a great feeling!!! Much love from the Moon Dragon family!
Thanks Matt! Sure was a great feeling. This boat life has conditioned me to expect for things to generally go more wrong than right sometimes, so it feels GREAT when things work out.
Great job Guys !! 🙏's for a safe Mast Climb and Quick and Flawless install of the needed anchor light and rigging of sorts !!!! Love this Sailboat Channel 💙
Congratulations on your job well done. We have been waylaid in Daytona Beach so can offer any assistance you may need as you travel thru. Sometimes a stop at Walmart, West Marine or Aldi can be handy. S/V Sea Rat looks great. You can take pride in your work and may your hearts always beat faster when you see your beautiful floating home from afar.
Congrats! Awesome job! All that sweat equity paid off in full! Hope Molly got through her illness quickly. Normal for kids to build up their immunity system.
Smooth as silk , just what you want! Growing up we never saw our boat(s) launched. No travel lift just very rusty trolly they would park at the bottom of a wide dirt launch ramp (stone and mud) at low tide . Then float boat off when tide came up (15’ tides in UK). They tell me the boats in travel lifts or cranes often creak and grown which can be quite unsettling to owners….. Cheers Warren
Oh yes. Very creaky indeed. I'm always a bit overwhelmed at all the tiny little bits, pins, clamps, hoses, etc - any one of which could fail. I try not to think about it too much, but it's certainly very creepy, especially having, what we were told, is the heaviest boat in the whole marina.
Welcome to the Westsail Family (Welcomed you when you first bought the boat) but now it is nice and freshened and looking great. Great job on the hull/deck joint bonding (one of hardest projects on a Westsail) and the engine room is pristine and I am envious of it’s size! Best of luck!!!👍
I was so scared IAN would upset your plans last year. You all made good time for the coming season. Beautiful boat, majestic even. Molly, knock-out that cold!
Wow so excited for you guys. I hope you take that boat to the South Pacific one of these days. Its a perfect boat for your family been watching for so many years since the original trip glad to see your doing it one more time
@@Sailboatstory Have you thought of doing a weekly live stream? Project Atticus used that to grow there channel and I think you two would be a entertaining live streamers. We could help convince her to do the pacific crossing
Nah. Just no desire to do it. What we do already has us spread pretty thin. I’m impressed by the folks who do even more social stuff on top of video creation. Seems like they’d have to offload some work somehow to free up more time. I don’t know how they do it.
@@Sailboatstory to bad you would be entertaining i think. Keep up the good work always love your humor. Are you going to try starlink? Seems like a lot of boats are doing that?
Glad to hear it finally is in the water. I would like to know were the A/C was when we were in working in the engine room! In August!!!! I felt like the cadence guy in the Ben Hur movie!!!! Your buddy “Red” would love to be back at sea!

Props Ben! Boat looks amazing. Your engine room is Million Dollar. Im super impressed! That engine start?!?! dang! soo smooth! Congrats.
Yeah, the engine start went way smoother than I expected consider all the fuel system work I did.
You have a world class sail boat I am so envious be safe and love life.
She's getting there. Once she gets her new standing rigging, chainplates, and throughulls this Summer, she should be pretty well set for some serious cruising.
I, too, am always amazed when things go right on a boat.
Oh man, it's just the best when things work out right every once in a while.
I can't wait to see that beauty on its way.
Me and you both.
KERPWOW of an episode. Have fun.

smooth launch, now let the adventures begin.👍😎
Yeah, lets get on with it already.
Boy she fired right up, thats awesome
Oh, man. That was certainly a good feeling. I was just sure that I would have to bleed everything to get it going again.
Congratulations, always a surreal moment with a large dose of anxiety when launching after crossing off the refit list.
Got that right!
CONGRSTS!!! ... it looks pristine
I think that's the old 50 foot rule in play, but thanks regardless. 😀
Excellent. Happy for you all and Have some fun Now.
Thank you! Will do!

Your engine is set up really nice Ben! Well done!
It really is. Need to do a little work on some of the engine mount hardware that keeps working loose, but I'm working on it.
Good job, can't wait for the next video!!!!
Coming soon!
That engine sounds absolutely GREAT!! Excellent work, my friend!
Thanks very much.

WOO HOO!!!!
YEEEEAAAAAHHHH!
Nice!
I can't wait for spring so that we here in the north can launch again!
Here I am feeling a bit chilly here in GA.
Congrats! Awesome job! All that sweat equity paid off in full! Hope Molly got through her illness quickly. Normal for kids to build up their immunity system.
Sweat equity is right! Speaking of sweat, I think we have another sweaty Summer ahead of us to get all new standing rigging on this boat. 🥵
Yay splash day. So uneventful. Can’t wait to see the part when you are sailing off into paradise.
Yeah, I'm kinda looking forward to that part as well.
Happy episode. Good to see you guys back in the water. The closing music made me think I was watching Bosch.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, Chuck!
I'm so excited for you all!!
We sure are too. A bit nervous, anxious, and a slew of other emotions, but excitement is certainly in the mix.
It always feels a bit like an exam going in the water having worked on countless systems... You passed with honor! Well done!
Yes it does!
Congratulations on a job done well by all!!! Now on to the hard work.
That sounds about right!
Congratulations!! Well done! Look forward to your future adventures!!!
Thanks so much!
Great job and wish you gait winds on your cruise. I see Ecola beside you. I know this boat from lake Ontario. Good to see she is still out there.
Oh, that's cool. Neat little boat.
Well done Captain and Crew. Looking forward to the white floppy things going up. Let the adventures begin.
We have some dingy, off-white, kinda mildewy floppy things. Will those work?
love your room Molly! Those glow in the dark stars are awesome.
It really does complete the ensemble.
Congratulations on the splash! 😎
Thanks!
Congratulations guys, you have worked really hard to make this boat your own and she looks great. Happy days and fair winds. Andy UK
It's been a TOUGH year, but I think it's just about to be worth it.

Whew, that was a doozy of a project. This coming Summer will be a full standing rigging replacement, so that should be interesting.

@@Sailboatstory showing your age ...
Showing my good taste in music. Much of what I listen to is older than I am.
Congratulations!
(Get a float on those engine keys, they're giving me the fear :-) )
Yes, a big orange and yellow one with black stripes.
Will do. We've got little anchor-shaped floats for them that as included when we bought Sandflea.
That sounds highly visible.
After watching this video.. I've subscribed. 🙏

Whew, it's been probably the toughest year of my life, but hopefully proceeding years won't be as strenuous.
nice boat !
Thanks much.
Our boat has been in and out of there several times. Great place!!! Great job on everything you guys have done!!!🍺😎
It is. We really like it there. Just wish it was about 6.5 hours closer to home.
Looking good guy,s
loved it guys! so happy for you all.

I think it would be easier to go up the mast while you were on the hard.
For some weird reason, it's exactly the opposite for me.
That looked extensive and expensive.
Yes and yes.

Congratulations on completing soooooooo much work!
