How is it that just three musicians can together sound so expansive?
Try listening to Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, and Roy Haynes on their 1989 album (I can't remember the title right now). Another amazing jazz trio with plenty of "wings" to "fly" with.
This is what cool jazz is about...free-flowing and melodic.....gorgeous!

this video makes me realize that it's horns that ruin most jazz for me. It just becomes the same shit as soon as you add a horn to a piano trio.
