My older brother introduced me to this great film back in the late '80s. I've watched it a few times since, and tonight I introduced it to my stepson. I think he enjoyed it as much as I did!

This was one of my favourite movies of the 20th century. I adore Sean Connery, love Michael Caine, memorized much of Kipling's work, and therefore loved the character of Billy Fish.

Sam J, Fassbender, Clooney, Bale... these are a couple of really easy off-the-top names I can throw out for some of the current era's greats, both mature and in their prime.
There are always great actors, and that doesn't diminish the prowess, charisma, or stature of any who preceded them.
FMM, the here lovingly-dissed Bogart *was* actually one of the GOATs.

What an incredible film! As Connery well knows, the heart of any great film is a great story, and Kipling wrote a great one. Realized marvelously by all of this incredible talent, love and dedication!

The story was inspired by a revelation about anti Christ who will come into the world and conquer lands one by one at first he will call himself a king then he will demand to be reveired as a God , it's in the chapters of the Quran and in the book of revelation in the Bible.

Amazing film! I've loved it all my life...for me, it's a film about friendship and what we can all accomplish together, even if it is something destructive...and the chemistry between Connery and Caine, lifts both their performances and turns this from a great film to something truly inspirational....and of course Kipling's story is the foundation. Peace. :)

The very first Indiana Jones movie, "Raiders". Completely blew me away. Saw it on the second day it opened at a matinee at a cinemaplex outside the gates of Ft. Lee VA. Had no idea what it was about. Even though the matinee crowd was not as big as the evening crowd, it was still pretty packed. People were leaping out of their seats, cheering. It has been my BEST movie going experience so far. My 3rd favorite movie ever is 2001: A Space Odyssey

I remember organising some of the Indian musicians and working on the music soundtrack with Maurice for this movie.. He came to the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Indian music school that I had set up in London in 1975 I think it was. He described what he required and was looking for a way to incorporate Indian instruments into his soundtrack. He used some well known Indian artists from India, Pandit Ram Narayan and some living in the US, Ashish and Pranesh Khan as well as some London based musicians. Sahid Jaffree I met way back in 1969 at the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington in London where I also performed Sitar. He was a young man at the time reading some Urdu poetry. Very nice man. Still have the programme notes for it.

This is awesome. I saw the MWWBK in February 1976 in New York City, just about as soon as it was released. The three of them -- Saeed Jaffrey, Michael Caine, and Sean -- made a WONDERFUL threesome. Saeed as Billy Fish would often say, "By Jove, no .... " then go on to explain what customs the Kafiris had. A really entertaining film. Almost cried when David/Sean drops to his death. And the music was FABULOSO, TOO!!

'The Man Who Would Be King' may well be Connery's best film, but if you really want to see Sean Connery playing against type, look for 'The Offense.' That, I think, is his best performance. Anxious to shed his '007' image, he did this film in '72, with Sidney Lumet, playing a broken-down policeman corrupted by all the horror he's seen, finally driven over the edge trying to catch a child-molester. Trying to make one thing right, he destroys everything else around him. Excellent film, see it.
