My mum and dad were born in Thornton and have never heard of this ever, this is absolutely brilliant, well done lads and all keep safe and well always and keep up these fantastic vlogs.
I taught local history to the school children in the area. They loved the story of Rebecca. I talked the version that she was thrown down a well near Wilsden. Rebecca could not cross water, but dwelt by streams and rills throughout the Thornton/Wilsden area. As your replies have noticed, the viaduct did not exist at the time of the story, However, I can offer more of the story. Pitty Beck is named after the legend. "Pity Poor Rebecca" and even that legend leads back to the Bolling Hall ghost story of "Pity Poor Bradford"
Amazing story. Very interesting. In conclusion, ghost stories are not only Scottish ! Thank you for letting us know all these stories about Bradford and its suburbs.
I lived in a haunted cottage at the top of Alderscholes throughout my childhood. The whole family witnessed numerous unexplained distinct footsteps, items visibly moving and shadows- so I certainly believe in ghosts. Strange as it sounds, we were never fearful of this ghost.
I was born along side the viaduct perhaps part of my energy is entwined in Rebeccas …. It would certainly explain my love life situation at the moment … rejected by my soulmate. I might not have been thrown from a viaduct but it feels like it lol. This was absolutely brilliant. The music and sound effects really created an eerie atmosphere in parts. I know it sounds crazy but for some strange reason I doubt I could have shouted Rebecca under that bridge …. Let’s hope that part of the legend doesn’t come true 🤣. The three of you really told a wonderful tale. Thank you so much I loved it 😃
I went to school in thornton and i heard a completely different rebecca tale when i was a teenager in the 1980s she throw her baby off viaduct and jumped after it and if you call her 3 times at midnight on viaduct she appears
Interesting to see the places associated with the tale, even though I'm not from Bradford. There are very similar tales of hauntings arising from betrayal and murder in very many places, both here and in America.
I went to Royd Mount middle school in the late 70s/early 80s and this story was well known. I’m pretty sure there was also a baby in the version going round the kids in Thornton back then. None of us would have dared call her name 3 times. I’d never heard the origin story though, thanks for that.
Lived in bradford for the 1st 18 yrs of life but never heard of this story until now. The only ghost story i was aware of was the ghost of bolling hall😂
I really like this channel being from Bradford myself. I'm not trying to throw a spanner in the works regarding the Rebecca ghost story, but if the legend is 300 year's old. Thornton viaduct is only 149 year's. So if there was an even older viaduct, trains didn't exist back then, not for at least another 100 years. Also there used to be a mansion house where Bracken Hill Park is now. It'd be great if you could find some history regarding that?
Nice story lads ,can't have been two to three hundred years ago thornton viaduct wasn't built until 1878 an if she fell off there i don't think she would be shouting at anyone after
I’m from denholme,at my first school kelham there was a legend that if you said Rebecca 3 times and jumped off the viaduct a ghost 👻 train 🚊 would appear!
I grew up in the '60s and spent a lot of time in Brackenhill Park, my aunt & uncle lived in Top Lodge which is at the bottom end of the park , this lodge had a massive rear wall which was one side of an alleyway which ran along t he back of the lodge from Bartle Lane and up towards Hollybank. New houses were being built in the '70s so you couldn't follow it any further. But I guess it joined Bartle Lane to Hollybank. that park at night was the scariest place. as a kid we knew her as" Fair Becky"
This is definitely one of my favs, i live in the area and the Paranormal aspect of it is right up my street, might have to go investigate to see if Rebecca communicates!
I love this channel, so informative about our beautiful city! I looked into this a bit more and the story must end in wilsden as the viaduct wasn’t built until the 1800s. Would love to hear more variations of this legend though as being a child in school I heard story of another Rebecca that would scratch anyone that said her name 3 times, maybe the stories are related somehow
Thanks for connecting, watching and commenting. Yes, you are definitely right. There seems to be a few variations. Keep an eye on our channel, we have a few more on the way in relation to ghost legends of this city. 👍
OI! calm down Sherlock stop getting all sensible on us now, we Thorntonites need a good ghostie of our very own so stop trying to take our Rebecca away from us. ;-)
I can report back to let you all know that a woman in a white gown did in fact appear at the side of his bed that very same night so he gave her a left hook, then a right and then another left! Of course his wife was not best pleased and made him sleep on the sofa for a month while her jaw healed.
Theres land that leads down to pasture lane there, where farm use to be it goes sode of sheabpurn pasture lane. I use to walk it to my friend as she lived in flats where new houses are. Can actually see land from my bedroom window. Theres a sign pasture lane public path
Bit weird but at the point in the video where you showed the brown leaves in the tree and the dead animal.....my dog woke up from his sleep and started starting at the TV. He then made a whimper and climbed onto my wife for a cuddle!
Fair Becca as she was known by was long before the railway existed it was reported that she was thrown down an ash pit on old Alan rd. wilsden by her lover who was father of her unborn baby she supposed to haunt pitty bridge Allerton.
My mum and dad were born in Thornton and have never heard of this ever, this is absolutely brilliant, well done lads and all keep safe and well always and keep up these fantastic vlogs.
Thank you , I am glad you enjoyed it 😊
I'd always heard that Rebecca (Fair Becca) had been sighted down Alderscholes Lane in Thornton near the viaduct. Great vlog again team!!
🙏👍

That’s one of the best videos you done on your brilliant channel. Please can you do more ghost videos please
We have another local spooky tale video in the pipeline... it will be even more spine-chilling than this one!
I went to Royd Mount middle school in the late 70s/early 80s and this story was well known. I’m pretty sure there was also a baby in the version going round the kids in Thornton back then. None of us would have dared call her name 3 times. I’d never heard the origin story though, thanks for that.

“I can’t believe he did that” 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
A chilling tale... a blood-curdling fable of betrayal and death... but what of poor Imtiaz? Is he now a tormented soul?

Hi, Thanks for your feedback and information.
I'm glad you like the channel.
Lots to come and taken note of your request 😊
This is weird, as kids we lived on pinchbeck, a row of cottages just below the viaduct, never heard this story, but my sister is called Rebecca!!
That is weird 😕
Brilliant!
Nice story lads ,can't have been two to three hundred years ago thornton viaduct wasn't built until 1878 an if she fell off there i don't think she would be shouting at anyone after

I remember in middle school we were told not to go toilets at 12noon and say rebecca x3 and she will appear
👁☠️
We used to go threw the tunnel at the bottom of bell dean road that goes under Thornton road nobody dared utter the phrase Rebbeca Rebbeca Rebbeca 🤣🤣🤣
We are looking for Imtiaz. Lol.
Thanks for watching 👀
i'm from Queensbury. i have been told this story but that it was one of the foster family.
I can imagine there being lots of variations on this 😁
Thanks for watching.

Poor Rebecca :(😢
Heard this story years ago from a friend years ago

It's really interesting to read other people's ideas on it.
I like these types of stories
Might be another one towards end of the year from us.
Thanks again. 😊
Looking forward to it
Could there be any relation to the white lady of Ladyhill Park, Alperton?
I heard about this spectre when I was a lad too. She is a different entity... if we can find enough back story we might make a blog 👻
Come back, Imtiaz! 🤣
🤣
Hello there. I really enjoyed this video. I have a small UA-cam channel myself would you guys be interested in doing a little collaboration some time.
