Sandra Huller reaches a rare level where the performance is so special that you enter a world where you completely forget you’re watching a film and feel as though you’re watching someone’s life unfold in front of you. This IS the character. One of the best monologues of the 21st century and quite possibly ever. Her performance in this movie is no short of the same ~level~ of any other great acting performance ever. Emma or Lilly will likely win due to more impactful movies overall, however, anyone who saw Anatomy of a Fall in theaters knows that Sandra Huller dominated comparatively
Just watched it. Absolutely stunned by her acting. I’ve never been so transfixed by a performance that I literally stopped chewing the m&m’s I was eating it was so mesmerizing and powerful.
Its easy to be dismissive and say "oh haha its good acting because its loud," but this is just on another level to me. Its everything, the little pauses she takes between sentences, the liberties she takes with the script while shes caught up in the moment, her EYES.... its great
I'm usually in that crowd, but this is everything Marriage Story thought it was. In 10 minutes they set up more to earn this fight than the entire other movie.
Not even that loud. She raises her voice but isn't overacting at all. A lesser performer would have been screaming the entire portion of dialogue here.
I mean and look this is the loudest moment in the movie, this character is so restrained through the rest of the film despite what she's dealing with, and this is where we see her finally lose it (except, ironically, it's in a flashback).
@@AnotherOpinion695 Annette is clearly the nomination that could have gone to someone else, but there were others I would put before Margot - both Greta Lee and Natalie Portman gave better performances this year.
@@DerMoerpler Oh Natalie was absolutely robbed, that movie deserved so much better. I would have personally taken out Annette and place Carey in supporting actress to put Greta and Margot in Best Actress. Idk the academy didn't seem to get it right for me at least but Greta absolutely needed to be up there!
@@AnotherOpinion695 I didn't enjoy May December as much as most film fans seem to, but I can't deny that the script and performances were among the best of the year. I fully agree on taking out Annette, placing Carey in Supporting und give Lead nominations to Natalie and Greta (not that they would've had any chance of winning, but still). While we're at it, Charles Melton deserved a nomination as well. And replace Bradley Cooper or Colman Domingo with Zac Efron. Overall the nominations were pretty good for me this year, but with these changes I would have very little to complain about. P.S.: Almost forgot about Dial of Destiny getting a Best Score nomination over Across the Spiderverse, which might have been one of the biggest snubs this year.
I wish there was the whole scene. It’s such a perfectly crafted scene, it evolves so naturally into an argument that’s so believable and relatable. The part about how they both sacrifice their mother tongue to be together (speaking English when it’s neither of their languages) rang so true for anyone who’s been in a multilingual couple, or moved to a foreign country for their significant other.
well deserved. the screenplay is incredible. my head explodes at the idea of writing that much dialogue and keeping it so riveting. too bad all of what both the lawyers had to say was mostly conjecture and wouldn't have flown in real court, but good movie!
Nah I watched this last night and this scenes stuck with me I just can’t stop rewatching it. It feels so satisfying in a way to hear words I can’t say said perfectly in rage by someone else
I've witnessed my parents arguing and it usually ended up in a physical fight, i was always scared and nervous as a kid and watching her performance is like witnessing my childhood all over again. This movie surly made me uncomfortable but i have to admit it's a masterpiece and her acting is on another level
In all honestly, I really wanted Huller to win. This scene just establishes what a dominating performance and actress she truly is and I was wholeheartedly hoping she’d win
How Emma stone won i will never know. She must have some crazy dirt on the academy cuz her poor things performance was the worst thing i have ever seen on screen. My god
Too bad the movie sucked ass. Scenes with good monologues do NOT a movie make. Disjointed, no character study, no background, just here's some 50 cent instrumental and hearing a person fall, and a 2.5 hour explanation that makes no sense nor does anyone care. I turned it off.
this scene was so real I felt like I was listening to my parents fight; the reoccurring point of Huller moving to his country while he still feels like she controls everything actually had me twitching watching it.

It's like people can't have outbursts or be loud in real life. 😂
I'm usually in that crowd, but this is everything Marriage Story thought it was. In 10 minutes they set up more to earn this fight than the entire other movie.
This is way more organic and realistic than marriage story. I felt Adam Driver and Scarlet Johansen were overacting there, whilst this was amazing.

This "something dirtier and meaner" with that german accent will stay forever.

Babe wake up another female rage just dropped
It was about time
Best Actress of the year.
Everybody complaining about Margot Robbie not being nominated, but come on: she’s fine but THIS is acting. Come on.
Annette stole Margot's nom, Sandra absolutely deserves to be here unlike Annette

What acting did Margot do in that below average Barbie lol.
Shame the actual best actress won’t be winning the Oscar but everybody knows it’s Hüller.
mmm no this time the correct choice is being made with lily, hüller is definitely a close second though
What? 😂 I really love Sandra Hüller, but Emma Stone still have the frontrunner, and Lily Gladstone in second place
id put her above lily i think her performance is being overblown. but emma stone should be the runaway favorite
Lily for me. Her performance wasn’t loud in tone but it hit. Also kinda funny that this was probably Leo’s worst acting performance.
@@Pariteasto fr, bro got totally got outshined by lily and deniro.
This part was insane! She had him in choke hold but the part that stings is, nothing she said was wrong lol
You choose to sit on the sideline, because you are afraid 💥 Such a realistic monolog!!!

This will win screenplay. Courtroom dramas always do
Correct

Congrats for Emma, but sorry this is my pick for the best lead actress performance.
Sandra would have been my pick for this years Oscar’s. I appreciate Emma and Lilly’s performances but for me this was the years best.
This scene made me watch the movie. It’s breathtaking
Sandra Huller hands down gave the best performance in the actress categories and in a fair world, should’ve won that Oscar
Nah I watched this last night and this scenes stuck with me I just can’t stop rewatching it. It feels so satisfying in a way to hear words I can’t say said perfectly in rage by someone else
Just watched this movie and wow!!! What a performance by Sandra Huller!!!
Does this remind anyone a bit of the dinner scene in hereditary?
And we all know Toni was snubbed for that.
@@EvanSawyer4 after seeing the movie, it doesnt feel similar to hereditary scene in the way it does without context. I guess it's the "female rage"
Toni was 100 percent snubbed btw
No, that was even darker. Toni is unparalleled.
BEST ACTRESS AND MOVIE OF THE YEAR.
F THE OSCARS.
This > poor things
why and how does it have to be compared
I can't doing this. She is brilliant 😢
First time watching I was like “she did it” second time watching I was like “maybe she didn’t”
Snoop did it. Watch it again and take note of the ball.
Give the Academy 2024 ti this amazing actress!!!!
This year's Best Actress Noms are tough
She ate!!
And drank... and smoked. Lots of all 3 in the movie from many characters.
This is a different level of writing and delivery.
the way she says DIRTIER and MEANER 🙌🙌🙌
Blanchette level acting
Literally man. The car scene in Anatomy of a fall and the park scene in Blue Jasmine are peak of their performances.

Outstanding film. One of the best I've ever seen.
