This luxury frame style from Maui Jim is incredible. And being a Maui Jim sunglass, it has amazing lenses, too.

The Kering take-over seems to have really helped Maui Jim.
These Alika sunglasses look amazing 😎 Very nice indeed 👍
Other than getting rid of some of my all time classic favorites (but keeping just enough models here and there to where I can’t totally complain: for example when getting rid of the freight trains and every other similar model, they kept the guardrails. That was actually a little pre-Kering come to think-but the example is good.) They have slimmed up some things to make room. But the new stuff. Wow. Totally substantial, although very subtle-improvements which in no way have taken away in any way from the spirit and balance of values espoused and communicated by the brand. These darn shades are the truth.
Love the unique multi-layered mirror coating ▫️▪️▫️ 👌🏼 Very nice!!
Best looking maui jim thats for sure
Really cool :) Expensive, but I am considering them.
I have one pair of the crystal/silver frames with Maui Rose lenses, and one pair of the tortoise shell/gold frames with Maui Green lens. The 2 best lenses of all IMHO. Maui Rose for low light to bright and Maui Green for bright to VERY bright. With a very large overlap between the two. I’ve had many many pairs of MJs. The only ones I don’t have were either lost to the depths or stolen where i left them sitting for about 2 minutes too long or less. But wow. These frames. I’ve had the original large frame rimless hingeless frames to several models with Maui Flex like Freight Trains (masterpieces) to their little brother Guardrails which they still make and which I still own several pairs and love them. I’ve had their nicest acetate frames like the most recent addition to my collection before the Alikas which i really really love, a set of Navy Pericos with the beautiful double mirrors blue to silver. Love those. But man these frames. These frames are on another level than any other Maui Jims. I didn’t realize they were different than say any other frames in their “designer” series or whatever it’s called I never paid attention to those categories before to be frank. But apparently yes: that “luxury” designation matters. I’m not one to be fooled by fast wordy sales pitches that don’t stand up to careful scrutiny-and certainly not any marketing paraphernalia such as a fancy box. If anything the fancier box caused my defenses to go up, and caused me to slow down and be cognizant of the fact that well paid professionals who are at the top of the their game are trying to manipulate my emotional reaction to the product. But it didn’t matter. These things could have been delivered by Ace Ventura in a reused amazon box and it simply wouldn’t have mattered. Nothing else that happened before I put them on mattered. These are so comfortable and feel so intentionally made for human beings, it’s ethereal almost. It’s really something. The nosepieces are game changing, everything about the design and the aesthetics and the experience is on a different level on a different difficulty level in a completely higher level game, and they are killing the game. They are the main character and the final boss. In one. And there is really nothing to them. They barely even exist. Other than having incredible optics and style and quality of materials and design and engineering and construction, they barely even exist. Why wasn’t this done so much longer ago? We put a man on the moon in 1969, we had electric cars over 100 years ago, and Douglas MacArthur was wearing super high quality aviator sunglasses in WWII. How the heck did humanity only come up with these in 2023???
I swear if they were plated in gold and had the teeniest bit more ornate temples and with Cartier C’s-and about 20-25% more time in finishing and attention to the absolute finest details-these could definitely EASILY be Cartiers. Not much room. They are already finished to such a high level of perfection. And I would argue they would be the most stylish and coolest of ANY of their more reasonable [relatively for Cartier] lower end models in their “regular” line. Which i think is classier than their super high end line stuff with the thicker gold temples etc. These frames are so well balanced in aesthetics and in style and also in the balance of values expressed by the style and design and engineering. They really communicate a sophisticated and simple yet elegant-but also solid, on a firm foundation and well buttressed-in a manner which is not effortless and gentlemanly and graceful. I feel like virtually anyone with any face can wear these. As long as they can pull them off and rock them, these shades will work for any face, any size, any shade, any sex, any shape.
100% agree
Is it also squeaking just like other Maui Jim acetate frames?
Just bought my pair
Just ordered!!! But customized it and got the Maui Rose lenses instead to boost contrast
Great choice 👍
Is that the grey black lens? What color frame is that?
Can you make these prescription?
Very nice .
Can this model comfortably used for sport?
I prefer kaenon lenses. But Maui Jim's are amazing
I believe they do a high end series nowadays that is all made in Japan
What's the name?
Is it also squeaking, just like other Maui Jim acetate frames?
They look lovely! I don't like nose pads, they always leave a mark.
Interesting opinion…most people think this frame is rather meh for the price tag, including shade review and thatglassesguy as well.
Unisex ?price
They look great, but that big stripe going across the lenses if very distracting to me
What kind of hinges are applied here?
Traditional hinge system. No spring hinges.
Does it come in larger sizes?
Only one size.
Can the lens be replicated with prescription?
Yeah! Would love to make them for you
Hey Broh,
This one or Maui jim puka which one is best...
This is more practical, but I like the Puka if you can still get one
$500+
Ugh. I wish these were bigger. The frames are gorgeous but would look ridiculous on my face.
Bought some Flats directly from Maui Jim. Had to return them at least 2 times. The quality sucks. And it sucks because Maui Jim goes for $300 a piece. They are probably falling off. Not worth it people!
What was your problem with them?
@@attilab.2818 I guess the quality checks on them. Screws that have been screwed crooked. Loose lens on a pair. The customer service is pretty good still. Returns are seamless. It's just the hassle of what if they aren't perfect since they are so expensive
@@greendog8424 I agree with you. We’ve had a few pair of Maui Jims and the lenses are amazing, no doubt here, but the built quality is lacking in most styles we purchased.
The Persol and Ray-Ban acetate frames seem to have much better built quality and the hinges also feel nicer, even though the owner of this channel would probably deny this because they come from the devil (Luxottica’s children)
@@attilab.2818 I noticed they received the ability to leave a review on the Maui site.
