O M G!! Freakin awesome!! You gotta love Mark Burgess for getting down in the audience and singing to (with?) his fans, truly great performer. I love this band it's one of the best of what came out of the eighties, along with a bunch of others!
Lyrics: One cold damp evening The world stood still I watched as I held my breath A silhouette I thought I knew Came through, someone spoke to me Whispered in my ear This fantasy's for you Fantasy's are in this year My whole life flashed, before my eyes I thought, what they say is true I've shed my skin, and my disguise And cold on the naked eye Emerged from my cocoon And a half-remembered tune played softly in my head He said He turns smiling And says I realize a miracle, is due I dedicate this melody, to you I realize a miracle, is due I dedicate this melody, to you But is this the stuff dreams are made of? If this is the stuff dreams are made of No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air I realize a miracle, is due I dedicate this melody, to you But is this the stuff dreams are made of? If this is the stuff dreams are made of No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air Everywhere Oh, it feels like I'm everywhere Like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is Oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is Oh and you reach the point when you know It's only your second skin It's only your second skin (Something's banging on my door) like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is (Someone's banging on my door) oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is (Something's banging on my door) or reach the point when you know it's only your second skin (Someone's banging on my door, something's banging on my door)
The band is now called "Chameleons Vox" ... Mark Burgess (vocals), John Lever (drums), Steve Foxcroft (guitar), Chris Oliver (guitar) and Ray Bowles (bass).
+bubbanderson Yes diffnetily college worthy. I had the honor of meeting them along with The Psychedelic Furs in 1982. York"...as in New York or York England?
Cada vez que veo aquí a John Lever entiendo lo que significa algo irrepetible. Y qué maravillosa interpretación de Mark, tan emotiva! Para los que recordamos esto diez años después (que no acabarán aquí) fue una hora extraordinaria.
Such an incredible tune! I wonder why Mark performs this song a whole step down from the original album and 80's live shows? Too difficult to sign it that high at his age? I wouldn't think so, it seems he can still belt it out if he wants? IMO: I think the song has a bit more intensity in the original key...
i'm curious too. the note he hits while just singing along with the synth melody at 1:32 i think is higher than any note he sings in the song in its original key.
My guess is the originals are just pitched up. According to someone else in another comment section, during that period they’d often tune without tuners and occasionally would tune so high the guitars would be in G Standard. It might just be easier to have everything played in standard, which is kind of weird to accustom everything down, but it’s my only guess.
this is what we call of real music and passion. Mark Burgess great performance.
Long live THE CHAMELEONS.
Agree!!!

He is a lovely gent, he agreed to sign my vinyl of the fan and the bellows.. love to the chameleons.
RIP John. 🖤 Amazing performance. I have a bracelet made out of Mark's old bass string that hes used onstage and a plectrum. We are all chameleons.
Wundervolle Zeitreise zurück in die 80er

Best Chameleons song ever...Tears a close second.
Lyrics:
One cold damp evening
The world stood still
I watched as I held my breath
A silhouette I thought I knew
Came through, someone spoke to me
Whispered in my ear
This fantasy's for you
Fantasy's are in this year
My whole life flashed, before my eyes
I thought, what they say is true
I've shed my skin, and my disguise
And cold on the naked eye
Emerged from my cocoon
And a half-remembered tune played softly in my head
He said
He turns smiling
And says
I realize a miracle, is due
I dedicate this melody, to you
I realize a miracle, is due
I dedicate this melody, to you
But is this the stuff dreams are made of?
If this is the stuff dreams are made of
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
I realize a miracle, is due
I dedicate this melody, to you
But is this the stuff dreams are made of?
If this is the stuff dreams are made of
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
Everywhere
Oh, it feels like I'm everywhere
Like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is
Oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is
Oh and you reach the point when you know
It's only your second skin
It's only your second skin
(Something's banging on my door) like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is
(Someone's banging on my door) oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is
(Something's banging on my door) or reach the point when you know it's only your second skin
(Someone's banging on my door, something's banging on my door)
